I've been giving out a few links and so far have a good success rate (in terms of them forming an own opinion, if they aren't misinformed but still disagree that's OK for me). Like Broteam calling a rifle over a mantlepiece "Chekhov" while streaming Machine for Pigs, or Cr1TiKaL playing a game about cheating on a school test with ridiculously obtuse questions but being able to figure out the first one normally due to pre-existing knowledge on fish biology. Someone should start compiling a spreadsheet of advertisers for each website and offending articles so it's easy to know who to complain to and what about. I would love to get more involved but I'm lazy and don't have time to look into everything myself, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Yesterday I talked to my dad about gamergate in that it was upsetting me in that I fear in getting a new job. I started crying and I did know why as I've been calm about this and only a little stressed yesterday, I figured out today I was crying not because I won't find a job in silicone valley, it's because I was afraid when my dad got more confused what he wanted me to say nothing and keep my head down. But I admit it hurts when you've been supportive and comfortable around women most of your life and have advocated for women's and LGBT rights to be called the thing you wanted to stop.

This is not going to be quick or easy, but McCarthyism always devours itself. No group founded in insulation and hatred can last as a force for long, just look at other past hate groups; there are always cycles where they're allowed to have free reign, and they always are forced to accede to people's eventual unwillingness to be douchebags to each other over petty bullshit.

I typed a huge letter to PBS about that atrocious article asking them to get both sides of the story and allow the viewer to make their opinion.

I've started thinking we need create some form of "network" to support gamergate. It would have its own website and social media accounts that would state its goal (and that it doesn't support harassment) and provide resources for people about GG. This way we can keep the momentum of GG while also distancing ourselves from harassment. It would also allow us to more clearly say that this "network" doesn't support harassment. In a way it would serve as the "leadership" of GG, except that everything on it would be entirely community run. I sort of like the name "GamerGate Alliance" What do you guys think?

A more organised and dedicated "front" to the whole thing would probably stop a lot of misconceptions, but then that puts a group or somebody in control of it all, which you've been trying to avoid.
