Guys, there's no good point crying 'woe is me' over some webcomic artist or game dev. We gotta remember that GG is about better journalism and better games, not some sort of moral crusade. There's a point to boycotting corrupt websites and journalists, but there's no good reason to boycott unrelated people because you disagree with them. I don't let politics and religion affect my spending habits or relationship with people. I can disagree with Joss Whedon or Tim Schafer about GG, but I'll continue supporting them as long as they make good products. Because that's all we ever wanted in the first place. Always remember that our real goal is better games, not universal agreement on this, admittedly, petty issue.

I can't even describe how mad that Gawker writers taunt made me. Fucking christ, we can't even make this more public, we can't persuade our opponents that they're equally represented by as bad people as they claim we are. We can't really stop anyone from even claiming we generally support hatred, they're all convinced of it and I'm not sure we'll ever be able to say anything that these people would ever listen to.

I've written a long, calm, and rational letter to Stephen Totillo, editor of Kotaku, in the wake of the events today, people like him need to be told these actions are unacceptable. I encourage other people to write to the editors of these websites as well, continue to bring up how their ads are being pulled over a tweet supporting bullying. If we can make them reneg on one of their own for the first time in this whole event, we may be able to show some of their supporters that guess what, you're supported by hateful man children too.

These people's livelihoods, as well as their entire social group, depend on following everyone else. They have too much invested in anti-GG. As much as I want to go on about intellectual integrity, the reason they can claim such things is because that's their experience, they believe it's all harassing women because that's what they've seen. Whether their perception is accurate, flawed, or ridiculously biased doesn't matter, that's their experience and it's not easy to change their mind.

It's not easy. It may not work. But what? You guys think gamergate going to change anything if we don't do stuff like this? I have to try something. Bullying is detestable, I spent my whole child hood being bullied. To see a website sanction it makes me more mad than you can imagine. Something has to be done

Appealing to them when they are so entrenched will just lead to more frustration as they either discard it thoughtlessly or mock your effort. If you want to do something, make other people aware of this kind of behaviour, people who might be influenced. Put that effort into informing other media outlets, sponsors, the general public to make clear that no matter what they think about GG, the media outlets being targeted are no saints either. With that you might actually accomplish something and relieve some of that anger.

Extra Credits has always been overzealous about promoting games as an artform, and when the people "changing the industry" come under fire, that kind of mentality is a disaster waiting to happen. The webcomic makes little, if any, mention of corruption in jornalism, and the only company I've ever seen her call out was the Fire Emblem devs for how they designed a character (I can understand why, but that's not my point).
