Garry should disable the RPS bot that posts to the News Node.
i wonder what garrys opinion on this shit is anyway
i wonder what garrys opinion on this shit is anyway
Honestly, I doubt he cares.
Honestly, I doubt he cares.
Considering he is a indie dev and arguably one of the most successful, I assume he's more than aware and has even an opinion on it
If his views on sex is a guideline we can use...
"writing an article is nothing special. it's just cumming in a vag until gamers are dead

That account is suspended now by the way http://twitter.com/GSAR_Sho
It's always interesting to see what (gaming) journalism decides to report on. What they think is newsworthy. A lot of sites just go for the safe choice of Anita, and then on a side note mention the gamergate thing. This makes it sound like this debate is once again mainly about harassment of women and those "gamers" pretend it's about integrity, ethics, and stuff. Lately I've seen so many circlejerk articles bashing gamers while displaying them as sexist bastards. Well, to quote someone: "I cannot eat as much, as I would like to puke".
i wonder what garrys opinion on this shit is anyway
Garry probably honestly doesn't give a flying fuck. He usually doesn't on most topics. [editline]2nd September 2014[/editline] And honestly, why would he? He's rich as fuck without a worry in the world and not a single connection to any of this shit.
Do you guys even have a design for the donation character yet? :v:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-27824701
That has led to some inroads: Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Civilization: Beyond Earth, Evolve, and Dead Island 2 were all new releases at E3 that either allowed one to play as a woman or had female protagonists.
while this is an old article, I can't help but feel consistently disappointed at the way these articles seem to skim over anything which isn't enormously popular. it's not as if popular films are hugely different to video games in their representation of minorities and women: I had a quick look at RT for some of the currently popular films, and looked at the protagonist on wikipedia for each Lucy: white woman The Inbetweeners 2: white men Let's Be Cops: white men Sin City: white man Guardians of the Galaxy: white man, with people complaining that gamora didn't do shit If I Stay: white woman Into the Storm: white man HTTYD2: white viking man As Above/So Below: white woman Planes: Fire and Rescue: white man... er, plane but for some reason, nobody cares and it's just sort of accepted. review publications certainly don't care. go back to games, and it's all "thank god games are slowly getting better in their treatment of women, here look at these couple of popular ones where you can now play as a woman" as if things were some kind of uniformly nightmarish wasteland before 2011. no mention of Beyond Good and Evil? where's Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, the game with ONE playable white guy in a cast of seven? where is the acknowledgement of all of these brilliant games which lie just beneath the surface of the medium? also annoyingly, this specific article seems to imply that these games with (shock, horror) women in them are appearing because of sarkeesian's videos:
Efforts by pioneers such as Anita Sarkeesian, who runs the website Feminist Frequency, which details sexual dynamics in games, have also brought increasing attention to sexism in games and the industry. That has put pressure on video game firms like Ubisoft, Sony and Nintendo, among others, to fix the ratio in their games and to change the culture surrounding events like E3, once populated by "booth babes". [...] That has led to some inroads: Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Civilization: Beyond Earth, Evolve, and Dead Island 2 were all new releases at E3 that either allowed one to play as a woman or had female protagonists.
I dunno, I don't want to complain. I know the vast majority of characters in games specifically cater to people of my sex and race. I want to see more quality in the representation of minorities in games, not just more quantity. I just don't buy this view that games are uniquely awful amongst media.
Everyone knows people go and watch How to Train your dragon because they are into dragons and not because of male protagonist.
Fuck, I already donated to TFYC before Facepunch hopped in on this :v: Is there a way I can make my old donation count for FP?
Got to love journalism in general, not just gaming.
That quote at the end wasn't by Voltaire. It was by Kevin Storm, a neo-nazi. Also Techraptor seems to be still online?
IMO it's a pretty shitty quote. For example, I'm not allowed to criticize people with, say, down's syndrome. Does that suggest that they control the government? I don't really think so.
Fuck, I already donated to TFYC before Facepunch hopped in on this :v: Is there a way I can make my old donation count for FP?
Shoot them a message! Also superadmin just told me we're currently at $180, meaning we've almost hit 10%! I'll make an official GD donation post tonight.
I only added (most) of that "Indi-fensible" video and it's already getting convoluted :v:
And honestly, why would he? He's rich as fuck without a worry in the world and not a single connection to any of this shit.
Until it's revealed that his baby is actually from Zoe Quinn and Garry's Mod was just a tool to show how Misogynist gamers are by all the sex poses they did over the years. Also Garry and Phil Fish are BFF's
Do you guys even have a design for the donation character yet? :v:
The groups/sites that have a character got the money first...
Shoot them a message! Also superadmin just told me we're currently at $180, meaning we've almost hit 10%! I'll make an official GD donation post tonight.
To whom tho? TFYC or Indiegogo?
I only added (most) of that "Indi-fensible" video and it's already getting convoluted :v:
You're like The Question. I'm kind of jealous.
Also I noticed nobody posted about Daniel Vavra joining the anti-corruption force. He's the writer behind Illusion Softwork's Mafia.
this whole thing started when jeff gerstmann was fired
You're like The Question. I'm kind of jealous.
I'm not that impressive, I just know a bit about the available tools from following hacking/security news. I also use that program as contact list, so I already had it (kind of) installed. Cross-site internet contacts are seriously convoluted :v:
I'm writing up the GD TFYC post now by the way. Won't have it posted until later tonight (thinking sometime after 1030) but it should be up and ready to go before midnight!

There sure are a lot of people who are liking the gaming community to Bane.
I like this idea. No need to even be obvious. Could be like Poison from Street Fighter who just happens to be transgendered. I wish 4chan didn't secure a redheaded, freckled girl though. Guess we could do black or brunette?
If we do manage to create a mascot why not make her Albino? It fits with the White and Red of the Facepunch logo. But in all honesty, we are much smaller than 4chan so I don't see us being able to reach 2k, it would be fun making a mascot though.
[t]http://puu.sh/bj69G.png[/t] how deep does this shit run
On that note I've started digging through Patreon a bit. Nothing super interesting so far, but both Kramer and Anthropy pay some people who also criticise video games. I haven't yet checked if they wrote about their specific games though. [editline]edit[/editline] I'll leave it at that for now, need sleep: [t]https://i.imgur.com/A74kbWP.png[/t] The facepuncher in the graph is just Reimu, I thought it would be helpful to keep track of their TwitLonger document and the Twitter accounts involved on our "side".
There sure are a lot of people who are liking the gaming community to Bane.
I've noticed that too. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing, either. Bane's methods were completely nuts, yes, but the stuff he was fighting for kinda made sense. But I don't think the "other side" is Batman.
