Advertisers have everything to fear if the people they're sponsoring are shitting on their consumerbase and then try to cover it up.
It's just a matter of presenting them the right evidence showing what's been happening. Advertisers don't care about the politics, but they definitely care about their own image and being possibly associated with people who literally advocated bullying during anti bullying month.
As i said before, our most powerful weapons are our collective voices.
Is there any chance I can get some help with persuading a couple of people?
These are all rational people; they just need to be shown the light, so to speak.
The forum from which I got these posts has its own GamerGate thread, and it's almost exactly the opposite of this thread, so I'm going to be voicing my opinion in that as much as I can, to try and break the impression that it's all harassment and misogyny.
It has been going for a long time now and I feel like the anti-GG side seems to gain more ammo to lower the movement's status.
I'm just wondering at what point could GG say it was successful?
You might simply present the evidence and let them make up their own minds. The entire problem with #AGG is telling people what and how to think.
I have to disconnect from this shit because I'm getting no work done ;_; I honestly feel like there's absolutely nothing they can do anymore to try to paint us in a bad light and it's only a matter of time until they concede. They'll try to bargain under their terms (as they have already started) then they'll have to accept they lost and then we win. But I feel like this will take a long time and other than them trying to change gg from the inside (which will likely not work) I don't see how they can go bigger than mainstream media.
Andrew Hussie (guy what does homestuck) seems to think gamergate is evil according to his twitter. Only a fraction of his fans will follow his twitter but I thought I'd mention it.
Like I give a shit, his fucking update has literally flooded my god damn tumblr feed.
He can die in a fire created by his own plushies and inability to write.

At least it'll be another decade before it updates again.
The (possibly only) advantage of being a transgender girl is that people suddenly start questioning why one would support such an allegedly transphobic, misogynistic thing as GamerGate. It's the most patronising thing ever when people play down #NotYourShield, because I'm sick of having my opinions overridden by cis people and even other trans people because 'That's not what a trans person would say!' I'm allowed to be who I want, and I honestly can't believe that people against GG consider themselves the 'progressive' ones when so far, I've only ever seen them talk about progressive things if it benefits them.
So, I'm planning the next stream for 10pm BST this saturday. That's one hour earlier than last week. I haven't asked anyone directly yet, but I'd like to bring on the same people again. Also that should probably be the last stream. Unless something major happens and dung hits the arrangement of rotating blades.
Sure, even though I was mostly in the comments rather than actually speaking (whoops) but I'll come on again.
Lowtax and Shmorky are having a talk (??) about gamergate (??) on twitch.

I really don't know.
Is the evidence of corruption archived somewhere? I'm looking for the crooked judges in particular.
i am late

Also an interview of both GG and AGG

To sum it up here is a user comment
I'm surprised there hasn't been a lot of discussion about this article here because it does a really excellent job showing off the mindsets of each side of this argument (from what I've seen anyway). Lizzie's half of the article feels really casual and she clearly doesn't see anti-gg as a whole as bad people. Then Rex comes in and is incredibly demeaning towards pro-gg and also writes like an english comp I student who just discovered a thesaurus. The two halves of the article are so different it feels unreal.
Not much to say besides scummy piece of shit.
I sometimes try to think of how I would have been on the other side, how this whole thing looks from another perspective but honestly these people act like fucking scum. I don't think I could see it any other way than Pro GG.
All the corruption, all the lies and censorship, all the hate and spite they've thrown at us. I don't care if we win or lose, so long as there are still people that see that what they are doing is wrong.

I'm confused how can Rex be dish out so many claims that are not just false but the opposite of true. You'd think he'd at some point seen some internal GG discussions and how misinformed he is.
I think Rex's outlook on GG would change if he stopped going through his thesaurus every 5 words.
I hope he doesn't speak like this in real life. I mean, I enjoy well crafted sentences but while speaking or writing for an opinion piece I think you should just try to speak like a normal human being.

So basically it's a normal person writing vs Jonathan McIntosh writing.
Shame, because he does say this:
I would love to be able to engage with as equals and have the discussions that need to be had.
His vocabulary really shows his holier-than-thou attitude which kind of goes hand in hand with some of his beliefs. I think he needs to do more than close his thesaurus
From what I can tell, the new narrative isn't gamers are dead but the opposite. They're trying to broaden the gamer term so that it includes people that play Candy Crush. The best guess I can make is that it's an effort to split the gaming group so that pro GG is seen as a rougue group of gamers
Thing is though, I'm totally okay with broadening the term.
how come all this corruption in gaming journalism talk didn't start before, when it's been pretty obvious that large companies have been paying (or at the very least bribing with goods and services) for good reviews forever?
I'm absolutely sick of these patronizing white-ass polo-shirt wearing San Fran cappuccino-drinking morons that think they're progressives and think they're the voice of me and other transwomen.
I can't help but feel this sentence is a bit like the sockpuppet argument that is being thrown at GG supporters, despite you being absolutely right about the argument you present.

When there is obvious corruption there is usually a lack of organization/unification against it until usually, an event happens which gives them reason/means to do so, basically a powder keg that was going to go off sooner or later.
Long before GG, I've noticed that SJWs tend to be discriminatory as hell to minorities that disagree with them on any level. I say fuck them and what they think because they're just closeted bigots playing progressive.
I started getting wary about some of these things ever since I noticed some people on Tumblr were essentially asking for racial segregation, and even arguing that it was a good thing because some all-black schools were doing better than all-white schools. Sadly, some people can become so overzealous in their search for equality (or brownie points) that they end up making the exact same arguments as the people they're allegedly arguing against, just for different reasons.
I was just being facetious, but I can remove that line if people legitimately think it'll reflect poorly on gamergate.
As a progressive, I just loathe the 'punchclock progressives' out there who use social progressive tenets for nothing more than bonus points among their peers
No, you don't have to remove it, I just wanted to present that we can't be hypocritical, especially when it comes to the people we disagree with.
Besides, it will kind of put my reply out of context.
Gamergate isn't about social justice, but I really think people need to make a statement that it's about equality, and whilst that does involve being respectful towards every culture, we can't let ourselves go the other way. Majority groups might not face oppression, but the majorities can vary around the world, at least racially. It's important for us to remember that cishet white men aren't the 'enemy' because they're cishet white men, but because they are the majority and that gave them a position of power. When that power is equalised, there is no longer an issue with them. But I'm rambling on with an off-topic subject.

I've just realised my automerge broke. Oops.

it's just funny that everyone gets their panties in a bunch of quite small indie game instead of, you know, actual "corruption" by industry giants.

One is a lot easier to sink teeth into than the other, also the goading from journalists (gamers are dead etc etc) and sjws helped. Gotta start small.
In the end though I think this clusterfuck will probably send a message to industry giants as well

People have been getting mad at the corruption on the AAA level for years. Its a common occurrence. There was little to no indication however of the corruption and collusion occurring in the independent industry and press however. And compared to the AAA scene, the response from the indie scene and press was absolutely psychotic and hostile. This wasn't the general disinterest and dismissiveness big studios usually express when called out. These people got very aggressive immediately to defend their actions. And this wasn't just the usual marketing guff the AAA side tosses out. This was much more malicious in nature. It showed just how truly dangerous allowing this behavior is.
