Controversial opinion coming up (I am prepared for boxes): The mainstream media cares a [B]WHOLE[/b] fucking lot less about corruption in games media (or anything to do with gaming in general) than they do about 21st century feminism and Twitter death threats, so I doubt #GG is ever going to get any mainstream news coverage, at least in the way we'd like. I think because we're all pretty hardcore gamers we're far too close to the issue, so maybe we don't all realise that the likelihood of us getting across our message of anti-corruption is on the small side, given we're sharing the same shouting space as all of the 14-25 year old SJWs in the world. Like literally half the stuff in this thread now is just people posting screencaps of SJW Twitter insanity, so far has this discussion been highjacked. I'm not admitting defeat, I'm saying that the bigger we make #GamerGate, the more the media's going to get interested in it and that's [B]NOT[/B] going to go our way. We have right on our side, but I don't think we have control of this discussion any more. The media's going to focus on the story they want to tell, not what's actually right, because they're just as sensationalist and just as arrogant as the people we're against. I honestly think that we should attack the journos in a more internal way, by continuing to remove advertisers from their sites, by telling any of our friends who play games to avoid them, and digging up dirt and handing it over to the authorities. There has to be more we can do on this front because I really don't feel like we've been making stellar progress up to this point - like I really wanted to see some of these sites shut down or struggling to stay afloat, or for the people responsible for IGF to be getting arrested or questioned, and that hasn't really happened yet. If anything, we've just given these scumbags more traffic.
