Anyone know if Intel pulled from Gawker yet?
Gamers had no reputation the media has done a fine job of bashing anything not mainstream for years now.
who gives a shit so that slut slept with some dude the gaming industry is a joke
who gives a shit so that slut slept with some dude
No-one, people care about the industry being nepotistic shit and are trying to call them out on it.
the gaming industry is a joke
Good to see you agree, but whether you're fine with that or if you think it should change is where things split.
The scandal and all the random shit may not be glorious but the end result is that now there are enough people that care to actually do something about the shitty sites we already knew were bad.
Why are they rating themselves agree with alts...this isnt reddit.

Far as I'm aware, not yet. But I'm pretty damn sure they know what nice things Gawker has said about them.
Gamers had no reputation the media has done a fine job of bashing anything not mainstream for years now.
Its quite amazing how ever since the birth of gaming, gamers have always been shunned from society.
Also, ignore the bait & move on. Try not to lose yourselves.

That is actually amazing.
The mainstream media really isn't going out of its way to defend social justice though, it's pretty much exclusively focusing on the women aspect of it. I don't think there is a "social justice" conspiracy out there, just establishment corporate media.
It's the same shit they did when they covered Occupy. It goes against the establishment narrative so they find outrageous examples of individuals and paint them over the entire movement. Occupy thus was changed from a grassroots leaderless movement organizing against the wealth inequality in the United States into a bunch of gross hippies shitting in drinking fountains and attacking cops. Now Gamergate is a grassroots leaderless movement pushing for ethics and inclusion and being portrayed as a vengeful hate mob of (apparently white) men railroading prominent women in the tech industry.
And even after all the media demonizing, I still maintain that Occupy made major gains. Wealth inequality is something that people talk about. "The 1%" is in the vernacular and understood. The questions they asked are still rolling around in people's minds, and that can't be put back in the bottle. Even if they could magically disperse #gg by force (which they can't because, you know, internet) I think the same thing will happen. Things that people accepted before without question (lol kotaku is shit) will be bumped up in severity and urgency.
Here's a list of things we need to stop doing:
*Stop apologizing or making excuses for trolls. I don't care if Felicia Day thinks anyone in a Triforce t-shirt might be the reincarnation of Ted Bundy... she's stupid to think that and you don't need to assume responsibility for it. Condemn them, report, block, and move on.
*Stop taunting, engaging with, or debating with Wu, Quinn, or Sarkeesian. You're only helping feed their narrative, especially with third-party trolls involved. Screenshot and move on. Hammer down on the people that matter: Orland, Kuchera, McIntosh, etc.
*Stop calling this a "movement." It's a consumer revolt. Movements are always easier to misrepresent and attack. Consumer Revolts are capitalism doing it's job, especially when the Supplier is calling their consumers "shitlords."
*Stop policing each other. We lost AllSailHatan last night (@LetsSailHatan) due to people tone-policing each other over this "bullying" crap we've been miring ourselves in. She was a credit to team, and now she doesn't want to be involved anymore because other gamers chewed her out over a legitimate argument, regarding someone trying to exploit #GamerGate for patreon funds.
*Stop indentifying as "#GamerGaters." You're Gamers first, Consumers second. Identifying as a "#gamergater", instead of being a supporter, is making you identify with a group painted as a hate mob, rather than as a concerned Gamer with a very real expectation for accountability.
Here's a list of things we need to start doing:
*Archive your links before posting them to this sub-reddit, please. I shouldn't need to ask this of you.
*Write intelligent, succinct letters with links to information about corruption, nepotism, and consumer abuse, please. Don't call it "bullying." Even if you aren't their target market, companies will understand what a node for bad press looks like.
*Stop giving trolls and anti-GGers the time of day in r/KotakuinAction, please. We don't have to engage in censorship, but we don't need to listen to their bullshit either. Quietly downvoting something and moving on doesn't make us an echo chamber... it makes us focused and unwilling to be distracted by jokes about who the leader of gamergate is, or what kind of coffee anti-GG drinks. We know they're laughing at us already, there's no reason to make it pleasant for them.
*Start being supportive of your fellow gamers. We need to stop infighting and start supporting each other. If someone's getting heated, a private message saying "hey, everything okay? You sound pretty upset" does leagues more good than publicly posting "STOP. You need to calm down and leave your computer NOW." Context and application, people.
*Trust, but verify. The last week has been rife with people jumping to conclusions and not waiting for verification before going full-tilt. If you have something you think needs further investigation, bring it to the group and make sure to put up a disclaimer. Once we verify, you can go fucking crazy with it. If you feel you're losing your temper or objectivity too often, take a day or three to get your head on straight, then come back fresh.
What you need to remember:
We have the right, as enthusiasts and consumers, to have reviewers and watchdogs that care about our community and want to see it grow. Not through shame and denigration, but by love of the game and the acceptance of those who share our love for it. We're being dragged through the mud as gamers because we are considered surly, repugnant, and ungracious. That's somewhat true, but we've had a long road of cultural vilification, shady business practices, and publishing greed that brought us to this point and the people who were supposed to be calling the industry out on this stuff has been resting easy on advertising dollars from the entities they're supposed to be scrutinizing.
It's time that we stop playing the public relations game with people that won't hear us and continue to demonize us, and start focusing on hitting them harder than before, in the only place they care about: Their ad-revenue-laden soapboxes. Our persistence and teamwork is, has been, and will continue to be our biggest strength. We're not here to look pretty, or become the internet troll police. We're here to show that we have been disrespected, that our hobby and identity is being poisoned by people without regard for us as a subculture, or as human beings. Get personal, be understanding, write those letters, archive and verify, and realize that you are on the forefront of something with implications far grander than "people angry about games."
There's a few central points to the entire issue that I think everyone should be aware of, and the fact that everyone has forgotten the classic equation of "Normal person +Anonymity = Total dickwad" is definitely up there.
Trolling, death threats, all kind of nasty stuff, it's not specific to this issue, it's a constant throughout everything, especially any heated issue. I've gotten death threats from draw Mohammed day, from arguments in /new/, even from being arrogant on a Youtuber's channel. This kind of uncivil behaviour isn't specific to this issue or any particular side, it's everywhere and not even worth considering in a serious discussion.
