If they said gamergate was stupid because it's all manbabys crying about women then I'd say they're stupid. But if they said it was a futile effort given the current gaming media's influence was far-reaching, they're unlikely to change given the hostility towards their audience, and dethroning them requires not only full support from the community but another media institution which can provide a better solution for everyone to get behind, then they're certainly not wrong.

This was a while ago but seems fitting now: http://thedailyshow.cc.com/videos/izsb20/internet-killed-the-newspaper-star

There's currently no way to check since the partners list is offline after all (unless you find a random directly sold ad by them on the site).

I like him/her. He's using common sense to point out the flaws.
I don't like it when the tumblr pages I look at suddenly reblog biased bullshit. It's like people on the internet can only be arsed to hate on stuff, I mean, look at what's going on in SH.
chloe sagal is back https://twitter.com/ChloeSagal Some time ago she made her twitter account private and made her username 'inhales fiberglass' under the guise that people that were supposedly harassing her got her to commit suicide.

https://www.facebook.com/chloe.sagal/posts/540929509384463 So why the fuck doesnt she get on government funding if its so dire? Seems like shes got a pretty easy case for it. My guess is shes too fucking lazy to do the required paperwork. Or she was already denied for not actually being disabled enough, which would be surprising considering how mentally ill she is. Fucking disgusting she needs other peoples random money to support her and she cant even go through the proper channels to avoid this exact thing. Hell she could get foodstamps easy as fuck for starters. Also who in there right fucking mind would risk working with someone like that? The insane liability someone like chloe brings isnt worth the time.

It's even in the subtitle of SH: "News gets more informative the more outraged you are by it"
I thought my FB feed would be free from this stuff, most my friends don't really read that much into stuff like this, but due to the sheer amount of anti-GG stuff being put out by some websites, it really is getting out of control. Again I just say nothing because I honestly haven't read all that much into it, but from what I've read from these articles anybody who supports Gamergate is worse than Hitler apparently. Getting sick of all this to be honest. Mainstream media just seem to want to paint the entire thing as an evil misogynist women hating fat gamer group.
Well, of course. It's even in the subtitle of SH: "News gets more informative the more outraged you are by it"
I keep seeing shit like this for instance:
Felicia Day, a bona-fide geek goddess, talks about fears about speaking out against gamergate because she doesn’t want to be targeted by it, and how silence counts as a victory for the angry mob, and how fear isn’t going to stop her from doing what she loves. 50 minutes later, her personal information and address (she gets “doxxed”) were found and posted in the comments for all to see on her own damn blog by pro-gamergaters. Two days ago, Chris Kluwe, former kicker for the Minnesota Vikings, and OLD-school gamer, wrote his second brilliant, profanity-laden tirade against Gamergate, and he hasn’t been doxxed yet. Magical penis powers apparently keep the gamergaters from going after him, but Felicia and Zoe Quinn and Anita Sarkeesian and Briana Wu are doxxed almost immediately. Gamergate is not about journalistic integrity, I don’t care what ANYONE says. It is about silencing women, harassing women (and those that support them), and with the threats made to Utah State University because of Anita’s speaking engagement, ACTUAL TERRORISM. The “Gamergate” movement is irreparably tainted with the evil and sliminess of the origins and the continuing harassment and threats. If you truly want ethics in gaming journalism, abandon gamergate, CONDEMN all of gamergate, and move on. Gamergate is synonymous with misogyny and assholishness. Leave it in the dust.

My Facebook is still clear of Anti-GG BS.
So is mine, which oddly enough disturbs me. Most of my friends are moderate to hardcore gamers, I was expecting to see rage the likes of which I've never seen before...but nothing. The few people I have talked to about seem to be buying the whole "gamergate is a misogynistic sexist movement" bullshit. "Pro GG are bad guys." Well no shit, when you go against the media, you tend to get labeled as the bad guy. It is so god damned infuriating. Why aren't my fellow gaming friends up in arms over this shit? I fucking HATE being called something I'm not.
Joe Rogan says (or, someone else weighs in and he agrees with):
I'm always reserved when I see people overtly tie Gamergate to feminism. This isn't a reaction to feminism, it's a reaction to the echo chamber politics that have been steadily creeping into games journalism, and feminism is just one of the visible ways it has manifested. I know plenty of Gamergate supporters who consider themselves feminists, and smearing feminism and painting it as The Enemy because of the small cadre of nutjob extremists really isn't any more justifiable than the people using the same tactics against Gamergate. Most people on the outside support feminism or at least its ideals, and recognize a difference between wanting equality and the nutjob Tumblr culture. From just a purely political standpoint, saying Gamergate opposes feminism is really dumb and feeds perfectly into the narrative anti-GGers have been saying since this started.
My university is up in arms. Especially the sizable programming portion of it. I basically just showed them everything and almost all of the technical students, especially the women, are completely infuriated with what's being said by Anti-GG. They don't even play games heavily but because its a Technical school, literally everyone knows or dates a gamer.
That's exactly what the man is explaining though, that this isn't average feminists but those crazy nutjobs.
'Feminism is taking over America and we're the first to fight back' is exactly the sort of weird boilerplate opinion that makes Gamergaters seem like extremists and wouldn't help to dispel the accusations that Gamergate is a right-wing and anti-feminist movement.

Well GG is on HLN getting blasted out the ass...
True, true. I'll dig into it more.
"Feminism is being used as a scapegoat for bullying." Would be a good short explanation. [editline]24th October 2014[/editline]
Well GG is on HLN getting blasted out the ass...
Doesn't even matter.
I don't think Gamergate and feminism are mutually exclusive. I consider myself a feminist (in addition to wanting equal rights for all), yet I support feminism. On Tumblr, allegedly the breeding grounds for extreme SJWs, I still see plenty of moderates who acknowledge that the current system undermines everybody, and wants to help fix some of those problems- those are the people I follow. And yet, I'm also outraged by how journalists, even in widely-respected media, are going for the lowest-hanging fruit possible, and everybody's falling for it. I wouldn't call myself 'mad', but that's because it takes a lot to get me mad. I just find it bizarre how everybody listens to the industry when we call the industry corrupt. As a beside, the argument that 'modern feminism is tainted by SJWs' is exactly the same argument people are using against Gamergate. I'm not going to relabel myself just because some dickheads call themselves feminists and then say all men should die, and I'm not going to relabel myself just because people are attributing death threats and cyber-attacks to a hashtag aiming to try and get rid of corruption in the gaming journalism industry.
Well then it would be a good thing if the school spoke for those people in an official statement. Swilly if I may suggest, go to the dean about the situation and how the students feel and come back with a petition. You may request others to help volunteer, then go forth and collect signatures can come back to whoever needs to see the petitions to make the statement happen, (remember to ask to keep those signatures safe).

I mean, I oppose cultural marxism and most of leftist movements, but in my worst nightmares won't I bring political ideology into something where it's absent.

Its not that, they support non-white women. Its just a growing trend that they speak for these non-white women and exclude trans-women.
It's important to understand that people today have different understandings of what Feminism is and while you may disagree with what they think is Feminism,I think it's important for you to read into the sentence and identify the actual meaning and the context behind how they use the word. Are they referring to the crazy tumblr nutjobs? Then correct them and say how it is a perfectly valid movement despite the loud minority. If they're not? Then you can debate, ignore or compromise
Exactly.
