People use it as a general term for anti-GG because everything seems to have split along those old lines and it's a hard habit to break. It does contribute to the stereotype that it's all about railing on supposed leftist politics though and if people have made an effort to act civil so they don't give anti-GG ammunition, they can easily use anti-GG instead of SJW. I did do a quick search through my post history for the term SJW to see if this came up. Not only was past me already mindful of it, but they seemed far more eloquent than I am now.
I wasn't talking about SJW specifically though. I was also refering to what people like Wii60 are doing: constantly talking about Anita/ZQ's latest unrelated "scandal" instead of what you guys keep climing GG is really about.

This guy really isn't fucking around. All this talk about us being terrible, and us being harassers. And it's looking like the first person to actually get in trouble for making disgusting threats will be an anti-gamergater. This is huge. [editline]26th October 2014[/editline]
I wasn't talking about SJW specifically though. He's pursuing legal action.

Mike's going to take the woman that doxxed+Swatted him to court. I don't know if she realized that she is up fucks' creek already. What utter imbecile threatens a lawyer of all people? Although Mike has set one deadline for her to drop the charges: Which is to rat out whoever was involved with it too. Mike's got himself one hell of a game plan here.
Was he actually ever swatted? I think he thought people threatening to swat him was enough.
Okay, Gawker collapsing in on itself for being full of shit, anti-GG'er about to get into legal trouble for doing shit they accuse GG of doing... Is it too early to start getting optimistic? Because I'm getting fears that other anti-GG'ers will find ways to spin this to make themselves look like the victims yet again.

The market has spoken. I think things are beginning to look up.

But it's gonna be harder to spin LW getting sued, because you need a solid foundation of evidence to have a chance of winning in court. You also need to do some insane mental gymnastics to think anyone would pay lawyer fees just to harass or attack LW for her being a dev or a woman or what ever they usually spin it as.
I wasn't talking about SJW specifically though. Anita talking shit about masculinity obviously isn't, but this lawyer stuff is possible. It depends on if you think the larger scope of the movement is relevant or if it's solely about journalism. Is the reaction to anti-GG sidetracking it into this worth noting, or is it just taking the bait. IMO tackling that kind of slander in a positive way helps portray the message of journalistic integrity in a better light, and the goal should be in keeping it on that positive and related stuff rather than trashing it all.

I think this will be their play.
Also I love how last page you guys agreed with this: Yet you guys are still doing the same shit TB tells you not to do.
I don't think everyone is doing that in this thread. In fact, maybe two people are and personally I don't like seeing it because it doesn't do anything.
i guess they arn't doing it for free
What does astroturfing mean in this context?
What does astroturfing mean in this context?
saying dumb shit for $$$ If your a person who has vocal power, thats bad. more gawker stuff http://i.imgur.com/xDD5ZjF.jpg
What does astroturfing mean in this context?
Gawker paying people to spread anti-gg stuff I asume. Also, ninja'd
What does astroturfing mean in this context?
Astroturfing is basically when a movement or organization tries to act like it is grassroots, started solely by the people and operating solely on their behalf, while they are actually founded and backed by a major business or political entity. In this case: The AGG side acts like it is solely a movement of the people, when apparently many of them are being paid by Gawker to act like that.
Was he actually ever swatted? I think he thought people threatening to swat him was enough.
Apparently they did report him to the police, or someone reported to the police that they were going to report him to the police before he reported it to the police. Even if he doesn't actually get swatted quite a bit of the stuff that was done publicly by them is not exactly legal, as far as I can tell with my European knowledge of the limits of protected speech. (I did look into US laws a bit too though.)

LW Post is already available in its entirety in the Internet Archive.
Was he actually ever swatted? I think he thought people threatening to swat him was enough.
They filled in forms to get him swatted, then he heard he was going to get swatted on the LAPD scanner. Called the LAPD up, told em "yo i don't got any hostages/mountains of cocaine here." and then went to a hotel if his house does end up being swatted even after he warned them.
i guess they arn't doing it for free
So does that mean that if Gawker does go down, it'll take out a hell of a lot of anti-gg'ers in the process? That would be pretty awesome.

Tell me; would this be happening-tier dirt against Gawker, or just another shitty tally to them?
Well damn. The rabit hole goes deeper. Tell me; would this be happening-tier dirt against Gawker, or just another shitty tally to them?
The point of astroturfing is plausible deniability, you can't prove they paid people to say that and they'll just call you a conspiracy nut if you try it. Of course after they put Chris Kluwe on TV and pretend he's defending Gawker out of decency after he wrote multiple articles for them, this doesn't seem as bad.
LW Post is already available in its entirety in the Internet Archive.
Don't think he cares about the Zoe Post, he just cares about the interactions that led to him being doxxed. And seriously, do people think that if they actually say "Zoe Quinn" on here, she'll show up or something?

The LW nickname stuck even though Zoe is activly involved in anti-GG and doxxed a pro-GG guy.
IIRC, LW was originally done to encourage people to move past the Zoe post when discussing Gamergate, but Zoe and Alex keep talking about GG and stirring shit up. The LW nickname stuck even though Zoe is activly involved in anti-GG and doxxed a pro-GG guy.
It's not like pro-GG people go out of their way to ignore her tbh. There's always a portion of people who support GG that seem to be actively watching her Twitter account to take screenshots of when she does something silly. But using "LW" rather than just saying "Zoe" is dumb as fuck and does absolutely nothing as shown by the fact people keep talking about her using that name instead.
I'm not completely sure of the origins but being on 4chan around the time the great "purge" happened, i believe LW was a way of referring to zoe quinn without being autobanned. [editline]27th October 2014[/editline] Also on 8chan initially it was a method of splicing the people who had been there for some time vs the shills who were coming in looking to create "damning" screencaps
It came up when Eron first posted that she was suing him. He referred to her as Literally Who and LW in the posts about it.
What are the instances of corruption that we have seen so far? It'd be nice to have a list to refer back to. Here's everything I can think of right now: The journalists in the Five Guys incident, or instead of this journalist-developer ties. Patricia Hernandez for example The email collusion circle The firing of Alistair The alleged racketeering case with Indiecade/IGF Gamers are dead articles Developers unable to voice support for fear of wrecking their careers (I don't remember specific names)
This video covers some of the evidence that exists.
