What i get out of that post is she wants to enforce gender segregation,I dont give a fuck who or what you are in gaming hell I would totally play with a houseplant granted they wernt a dick, gaming is open to all those who dont wish to destroy and smear it.

It's a biased vice article that went to a college to find man sexism, but I link the reddit link because of the comments by the OP'er.
They filled in forms to get him swatted, then he heard he was going to get swatted on the LAPD scanner. Called the LAPD up, told em "yo i don't got any hostages/mountains of cocaine here." and then went to a hotel if his house does end up being swatted even after he warned them.
Source? I missed the part about the police scanner.
I hope Digipen takes action because of this.
Pretty disguising this happened.
Also I love how last page you guys agreed with this:
Yet you guys are still doing the same shit TB tells you not to do.
SJW and SJW money are completely entwined in this issue, where exactly do you think sites with pulled ads are receiving revenue to continue telling only one side of the story? I've watched BioWare implode from a storytelling company into the entertainment arm of an agendist political group. It has everything to do with ethics. TB will never go after dev pesonnel directly, and he said so after getting his ass handed back to him with perfectly symmetrical bite marks on it at SA by Raven software employees, so this extension of #GG doesn't even concern him.
TB isn't going to risk his viewership on subjective representation.
As an aside, it's pretty interesting to watch you attempt to take a cross troll position every time something super polarizing and contentious like this comes up, and you're not particularly good at it. This isn't 4chan, and 4chan minor league haranguing only works in fast threads against 14 year olds, so you're going to probably have to try a very very different tact on this one, and I'm gonna hazard you're not really up to snuff in that particular venue.
So does that mean that if Gawker does go down, it'll take out a hell of a lot of anti-gg'ers in the process? That would be pretty awesome.
Not exactly news; somehow a google lookup becomes "doxxing" because A the person who did it (which was seriously a dumb fucking thing to do) and B a certain megaphone was literally waiting to write up the article as soon as the above idiot took the bait. It's also not going to get reported by the media, so I'm not really sure what the intrinsic value is; gawker will just claim pre-emptive support for articles to posted in the future, which is something they've actively engaged in for years.
How do you think they keep being able to get gawker alumni on viacom shows? Because Satterfield set this stuff up years ago for populist pundits to comment on gaming and tech on viacom tv shows, and gawker has staff specifically paid to cover pop culture in video form.
Well, no shit they're going to convert it into a defense when they're caught doing malfeasance.
The only intrinsically advantageous facet is they will no longer be able to put stuff on TV, because if they do and fail to mention these people were paid by gawker to do this, someone with pockets can get the government involved, because then you're heading into both RICO and civil rights territories.
gamergate wiki page has been unlocked
let the insanity begin
If Gawker goes bankrupt, what happens to moots girlfriend?
With half of 4chan gone and Gawker swirling the drain, moot is now fucked on both sides. I imagine his anxiety is through the roof and he's itching to do something but doesn't know what. It will inevitably be stupid, as his decisions usually are, and it will be very entertaining.

protip: never hire a marketing major to do your clinical research for you, one or more of you will end up looking stupid.
You have to wonder if he isn't just running a sociology pdf through a parser at this point.
It's like something out of Star Control.

For the last few weeks, this seems to be how the debate has gone:
Gamergate: "Hey look, here's some evidence of corruption on an amateur/ professional/ corporate level!"
Gamergate: "Hmm, this person is actively encouraging bullying and refuses to give any kind of serious apology. Let's try and pull sponsors from their site to get them to understand that this behaviour is unacceptable."
Gamergate: "Here's this well-sourced, detailed archive about somebody you really shouldn't trust based on this information."
Some random arsehole: "HEY [insert prominent anti-Gamergate personality here] I KNOW YOUR ADDRESS I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU AND YOUR FAMILY"
Anti-Gamergate: "Well, there you have it, folks. Irrefutable proof that Gamergate does not care one bit about corruption and just wants to bring down women."

I'm utterly sick of this one-sidedness from almost all news sources. It shows something when conservative glorified blogs have more integrity than some of the actual news companies reporting on this.

I get what he's saying, but him and Sarkeesian use the "male gaze" as a reason women shouldn't dress how they would like to.
Personally, I do differentiate between sex-negative and sex-positive feminism.

Shocking revelation: A person with a label that is by nature negative tries to twist things so that the positive equivalent becomes a bad thing. Which is funny, because that's exactly what they're accusing Gamergate of doing. I think there are ways of expressing sexuality which are harmful (eg treating women as sex objects), but just a woman choosing to express herself in a sexy manner? That's no more harmful than the man doing the same thing, as long as she's still treated as a human being.
[editline]27th October 2014[/editline]
Sex-negative people are the same people who see a woman dressed 'sluttily' (according to them) and call her out on letting the side down, rather than letting somebody wear whatever they damn well please.
boy, all of this makes me miss the days where only smart people were on the internet.
Anyone want to start internet 2?

There is an important distinction between an actual person who chooses how they dress (as influenced by society) and a fictional character that can only ever have the illusion of agency and whose 'choices' or 'feelings' are about as organic as a political cartoon.
Not that those two have nearly enough nuance or tact to actually talk about that.

Legit argument. But the opposite is also true - one shouldn't expect a bright multifaceted personality or some kind of obvious representation from a fictional character that only serves as a device in a narrative. Unless there's an expressed intention for a character to be representative.
But no. "This female character is dressed too sexily! Misogyny!" AND "This female character is not exactly like a human being*! Misogyny!" When in fact neither of those two things are misogyny, but that's beside the point really.

I think what's itnresting is how all of anti-GG's tactics have failed bigtime. All they do is use the same tactics Tumblr SJ-types use, like trying to brand someone with a label of shame and hounding them until they agree, but it's not only not working, it's bringing more people to the cause. They seem to act like gamers are emotionally insecure teenage and college-age girls they can bully into submission, like Tumblr SJ-types target, but it turns out gamers don't give a shit about their labels (or in the case of some, like /pol/lacks, think such labels are accurate) and will continue to fight. Even their original nuclear option, going on live-TV and calling pro-GG people abusive misogynists, failed to shut it down. Right now it seems they've gotten to the point where all they can do is try to doxx and swat pople in order to have a chilling effect on pro-GG talk, which doesn't seem to be effective either. In fact, once they start getting arrested for trying to swat, I bet they'll drop that real fast.
Christ, even Jonathan McIntosh has been showing a lot of chinks in his armor, and I thought that dude would've never gone down in the near future.

I think they've gone just a step too far into fearmongering and propagating that everyone in the world has a skin as strong as wet toilet paper and started believing it themselves.

They have a tendency to try harder and harder when faced with opposition. This is no different than our current situation. The games media have kept giving us shit, and to their surprise its not slowing us down, its only making us more aggressive. Gawker is going to burn soon and it will be a lovely sight when it does. I feel sorry for all the decent people who will have to find new jobs.

So DSP is the ultimate warrior then?

And then that should lead into a larger discussion about how separable character-as-device and character-as-relatable actually are in fiction as a whole, yeah. Should, but when your title thesis is literally about tropes, again, the nuance just isn't there.
So DSP is the ultimate warrior then?
Remember that DSP's mod team on the forums all left him because he's a complete jerkwad.
He'd be the worst warrior to stand up against all this.

Isn't that what video games do to people?

reminds me of that one image of the Monopoly man talking to Scrooge McDuck and said something along the lines of "Remember when 4chan had quality posts and good discussion?"
Scrooge's reply: "Such a time never existed."

Ah yes, tell me how a legitmate debate in feminism that spans all the way back to the 1970s is actually a strawman, oh mighty McIntosh.
