So according to Boogie's twitter he may or may not be going on MSNBC tomorrow to talk about GG. If this does happen, let's hope it helps change peoples minds about GG. Probably won't, but still...
I would be super impressed if he went on to talk about #GG. People don't like him for whatever reason but I get the feeling he's been getting more heat that most people simply because he is a...rather large gentleman. But he sympathies with the #GG side, he's been a consumer advocate for a long time now, and I think it would be cool.
so amazon responded to the requests to pull their ad aggregation service from gawker.

this could be big considering the kickback they get for their referral links on the deals tag and not just the generic ad service amazon is providing.
http://www.hitbox.tv/blackpreon live interview with boogie. hope it's recorded, he said gamergate came from backlash from being called maysonist. He might be saying that under duress when he said he talked about corruption.

From what I've seen, he's probably one of the better people for the media to talk to. He was talking about trying to convince them to talk to Adam Baldwin, Milo, CH Sommers, or TB instead, but it seems like they've settled on him. They're probably looking to do some hit-piece on the most neckbeardy-looking guy they can find, but from what I've learned about Boogie, he's probably going to do his damnedest to withstand it and make GG look sympathetic. If this even makes it to air, that is.
I'm terrified that if Boogie goes on, people will judge him based purely on the fact he's a white, cis man with a beard who is overweight. As kind of a man as he is, I get the feeling most ignorant people will take one look at him and dismiss him as the strawman they envisage.
Remember that interview that Nero was going to do with LW3, but then she cancelled and went to a news interview?
Now she's claiming that Nero cancelled the interview instead. ahahahahahahahahaha

(As far as I can gather, he really was the one who formally cancelled, but only after she had delayed so much that it became unreasonable to continue.)
So I don't know who Alex Lifshitz is.
But after watching a speech he did about the 'treachery of videogames' and the fact that he hasn't made much beyond being an intern and working on two movie games and a Kinect game?
I don't understand how he can say anything with any sort of authority.
I'm not sure how there's anything wrong with this.
If the info is behind a paywall, its reasonable to assume it's not for pubic release.
That means that, unless there's something shady going on and this is actual investigative journalism, anything behind the paywall is more or less worthless for reporting. The only option that would be legally unproblematic would be to describe the paid content, but I haven't really seen that kind of own work in any large scale on Gawker sites lately, at least definitely not on Kotaku.

Again, I think that's why they chose him rather than someone like Sommers or TotalBiscuit. They just want to do a hit piece on GG and they think he'll make for an easy target. Hopefully he'll overcome it and convince people to give GG a second look, but I dunno...

There are essentially two groups of people you absolutely shouldn't attack if you're in the wrong: lawyers and journalists.
Everyone else (including politicians and rich people) will have some controversy or limitation in how strongly they can refute claims before hurting their own image, but those two jobs are amazing for making truths come up prominently with any Google search for the name of a person :v:

I rated you agree but Boogie knows who is he and I'm sure he'll be ready to deflect that.

I don't like watching his videos, but for me it's more because he usually seems really indecisive and that's something that bugs me.
It could be good if he manages to take a stand, but personally I think it's more likely for him to be completely flattened if they spin it.
I know he's just trying to do what's right and he doesn't say anything negative, but sometimes that requires not being completely honest and nice all the time.
Then again, they would have an incredibly hard time to self-victimize against him, because there's just no way someone could reasonably paint Boogie as aggressive.

The ads and referral links are separate to my knowledge. Having a referral link pointing to Amazon also won't tarnish their reputation the same way as their ads (and with that their customer's content) appearing next to celebrity nudes etc. I haven't checked whether the referral program has specific terms and conditions though. If it doesn't in this direction (which is likely) then I don't think they'll remove Gawker from the program.
This also is only a "we'll look into it", no reason to assume they'll do anything based on that yet (but I agree it's somewhat likely).

We'll see who the victor is when Gawker ends up having to beg on the street for funds.
So, I've been digging through the idea of toxic masculinity and as recently as 2002, I'm actually finding gender scholars and experts actually debating and refuting exactly that.
Its actually splitting into camps about whether it exists and if it does, is there a toxic femininity.

Can someone sum up what gamergate is and the whole gawker deal i haven't been following it much
So, it seems like Richard Garriot (Lord British) is anti-gg, or atleast misinformed, he tweeted a pretty biased article. (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/26/opinion/sunday/the-disheartening-gamergate-campaign.html?smid=tw-share)
This makes me sad.

The Gawker part is fresh, short version, Gawker owns Kotaku (Entire Gawker and Gawker sites are terrible quality, they're like really shitty tabloids) One Gawker Writer, Sam Biddle tweeted some dumb stuff, about how GG proves that nerds should be bullied, "Bring Back Bullying" other stuff. People obviously told him to fuck off, complained to a Gawker Higher-up, who was pretty much the same. GG started to target Gawker advertises too, with some success, now Gawker is busy shooting themselves in the foot.

Once again (it's in the OP):

The sponsors section is somewhat dated, as more companies have said that they didn't ever partner with Gawker or have pulled their stuff.

Oh wow, we were pretty much synced with fixing our HTTPSes. Fuck :c
"Actually it's about ethics in game journalism" as a joke really gets under my skin because it's almost literally the reversed scenario of when people use radfems to characterize every feminist in existence.
I don't quite understand Ian Miles Cheong. He almost seems like a fictional character.
What I don't understand most is that he hates Gamergate more than anything in the world but he tweets about it literally everyday

It angers me that the way Wu is talking about the interview sounds like it's going to be the be all end all interview that will answer everything.
It's confirmed (by both her and Glenn) that she and Glenn are friends.
The "interview" won't answer anything at all.

If the allegations made yesterday that Gawker is paying people to shit on GG in an astroturfing campaign are true, maybe Cheong is one of those people. That would certainly explain it.
If not, then the only explanation I can think of is that some people seem to be addicted to being angry at shit.

Nahh, I feel like ian is one of those guys who really wants to be relevant in terms of anything
I remember fucking ages ago when Ground Zeroes came out and the snuke offended everyone getting responses and stuff from him, he seems like the kind of guy who just sort of lurks in the shadows and waits to be able to tweet about controversial gaming stuff to seem relevant
because to be fair, who the fuck cares what "GAMERANX" thinks
I realize that sounds really hostile. Sorry. Not the message I should be conveying for your movement.

If such an exception would exist, during the time of need they would make an amendment to the rule.

At least one of his employees is a very supportive of Antia's videos and backed tropes vs women.
I mentioned briefly about it during a livestream.
