She probably thought it was just internet tough guy postering. I think she's realized that he's completley serious and that she can be charged with a real crime now, but it's too late.
Her twitter is irritating because it almost wholly consists of posts from 8chan. where anyone can say anything and be instantly taken out of context to fit a narrative. It's not even a far off idea that she could be making comments and then screenshotting them just to create a strawman. I feel like 8/halfchan posts shouldnt weigh as much as other forms of communication.

Considering that literally anyone can say literally anything, using the posts to gauge anything besides general sentiment is pointless (and even that should be reserved to experienced users who know how to read the board)
You cannot actively seek out "offensive" or "harassing" material that hurts your feels and later claim that the person who wrote something you actively sought out harassed you. two things, maybe jumping the gun via tin foil hat, the other is some joke on how deep the rabbit hole goes.
Thanks TheRedPenOfDoom, we almost got away with a slightly less biased intro.

The Gamergate controversy is attributed to changes in the maturing video game industry. The rising popularity of the video game medium, the broadening diversity of its consumer base, and greater emphasis on games as a potential art form, has led to a commensurate focus on social criticism within gaming media and indie works
"Maturing" game industry? What the fuck, it's an industry with huge publishing corporations and multi-million dollar budgets and we've been more or less over with this hardcore/casual shit five years ago. Did nobody notice?
Looking on that wikipedia talk page, holy hell what is with the bias. People are blindly citing rules even when the source is clearly coming to an incorrect conclusion. Newsweek ran an article a while back and posted something showing that more gamergate tweets directed at people were more negative than positive, and using that they claimed gamergate was clearly about harrassing women, except the data showed that upwards of 90% of the tweets directed towards these people were neutral or unable to be classified as positive or negative.
Not to mention that they do not compare the numbers against the total number of gamergate tweets where they often make up less than 1% of all tweets.
But what do some of the wikipedia editors say?
Sorry, but we don't reject reliable sources because an editor who claims to be an expert on statistics judges them to be flawed, especially when that editor is an SPA user with an axe to grind. This is because on the internet, nobody knows you don't have a PhD in philosphy: if you don't come armed with sources of your own your opinion is out of necessity given very little weight. Newsweek is a reliable source, so we can expect that they have used the data appropriately and that the conclusions they've reached are sound.
@idlediletante doesn't look like she's taking the threat of court very seriously. I've been through the court system a couple of times and this isn't uncommon. but when they actually arrive then their demeanor changes.
About the salon article earlier: there's a poster on a message board I go to who writes for salon, has written several articles on Social Justice issues and I believe one or two on Gamergate as well. His Social Justice article, by the way, consisted of taking posts on said tiny message board with a tiny userbase (which is consisted mostly of self-aware trolls and people joking), taking them entirely out of context, and then using them as examples of how all gamers are misogynistic, homophobic and racist. He posts more frequently about Gamergate than anyone else on the board, and his posts are always calling people manbabies, posts consisting entirely of things like "are you five/seven years old", "children whining about their toys being criticized", etc. dozens and dozens of posts that would each get you instantly banned for shitposting at any decent message board.
Salon does not have good writers.

I think it's totally ironic that a man who uses his girlfriend as a glorified puppet and writes everything she thinks and says calls himself a "feminist"

Actually they didn't.
Look how nerd culture is treated on TV in America, Japan and Britain.
Mainstream consumers are years behind, and most people still don't equate playing a console on first day release for 10 hours with playing a game with ball shaped birds on the bus as you go home from work.
There's still a literal disconnect, which is why Sarkeesian is able to say such incredibly banal and obtuse things as "gamers are dead cause everyone plays games now"
No shit.
IE everyone is a gamer, ie/eg someone whom engages in interactive entertainment whether pen and paper, social, storytelling, electronic, board, card or otherwise.
That's all the word means, and further highlights how completely fucking stupid the smear campaign is.
reading all these anti gg people make me wish sometimes silencing opinions are possible
but i know in actuality thats my own selfish wants and ignorant :v:

Pretty much. Either you refer to gamers as hobbyists (and thus exclude casuals) or you allow the broadest definition possible and make being a proud gamer as meaningless as saying "I read books, and I'm proud of it!"

That argument still baffles me to this day.Where's the logic in the claim that playing games makes you a gamer? If you rode a bike everyday, that doesn't make you a biker. Riding trains or subways every day doesn't make you a train enthusiast.
Really the argument equivocates consumer with the title of the hobby's enthusiast. I know i'm preaching to the choir, but I just wanted to bring it up because someone might be able to give me the basis for that argument(if there even is one).

I've seen more men mansplaining to other women about feminism than I've ever seen dudebros tell women unironically to stop playing games, go in the kitchen etc.
Cheong is a fucking hack retard btw, I'm sure you all know of the motorboat incident, but he also used to be a nazi jew hater or some shit. Outright hilarious.

The shocking thing about this Wikipedia article is that it is genuinely dripping with bias. Things like this:
claiming she used her relationship with a video game journalist to obtain positive press coverage, which were later proven unfounded.
The wording of this sentence somehow manages to take (relatively) objective information and yet give it such an obvious slant towards insulting the people who claimed corruption. I can't quite explain it, but it just seems to suggest that even thinking a relationship between a games developer and a games journalist might be a cause for concern is an evil thing to do.
these efforts were overshadowed by a simultaneous intense campaign of harassment, violent messaging, and death threats towards the accused developer and several other industry members in various capacities, primarily women; the harassment has been attributed to a vocal minority working anonymously under the Gamergate title.
They were only overshadowed if you focus on the bad rather than looking at things holistically. Actually, if you look at things holistically, I'm pretty sure that the things done by anybody going under the umbrella of 'Gamergate' have been more good than bad.
Gamergate has been identified as a culture war resulting from clashes of ideals between hardcore gamers, and independent developers and video game journalists.
Gamergate is a culture war? Sure, if Watergate was also a culture war between hippies and the government.

Gonna read that more thoroughly later but this caught my eye.
"WOULD IT BE OK FOR A CIVIL RIGHTS RIGHTS ACTIVIST TO MIRROR A NAZI SITE TO MAKE SURE IT WASN'T GETTING ADVERTISING?"
Umm...Is this an honest to god question. Like I said I will read more later but is this a real argument?
There's adblock for removing ads isnt there? Or do they still get paid for that?
I thought Archive was more to make sure they dont get pageviews.

I don't remember a motorboat incident but I have heard of the antisemitism, and how he blamed gamers for making him that way when he got called out on it.

Whether you use AdBlock or not, the page still knows you've been there. You clicked a link from somewhere, it's going to know where you were referred from.

So now aGG is comparing themselves to Nazis?
@YourAnonNews: "To everyone asking, we have taken NO position on #GamerGate"
Well, any other outlying movements within the Anonymous idea are pretty much doomed at this point. Also, "NO" being "YAN isn't involved in any GG operations" if you were confused.

Yes.
Also, did you just compare yourselves to the Nazis?

Even if they were, what's there to attack? The big profiles who already got doxxed?
Tbh the only site to go after would be Breitbart and that's practically a drop in the water right now.
But yeah, essentially they discovered people were using archive.today for non GamerGate related pages and blamed GamerGate for it.
