This might be semi offtopicish but people really call themselves gamers?
Even if you don't call yourself a 'gamer', doesn't mean you're not one.
It's a generic term. Nobody really calls themselves a "shopper", but basically everyone on earth is one.
Can anyone explain what @NotYourShield is?

A bunch of female gamers that are telling the sjw's to stop using them as an excuse to further their agenda basically. The posts are generally along the line of "I'm a female gamer and I don't feel disrespected by the gamer community."

Not just females. Anyone who is not a while male can use the hashtag.
Corruption? Sorry I didn't knew about this. Thanks for posting.
Gah, it just frustrates me so much that despite the countless arguments again journalistic integrity and corruption that the 'Gamer' side brings up, the other side just keeps focusing on the death threats and refuses to acknowledge anything else. Those are being posted by such a small percentage of people in this 'argument', and yet no one can let go of it. It's not like 'Gamers' are even condoning that behavior; Everybody that's not a troll agrees that death threats are pathetic.
This is the equivalent of them arguing with a Muslim and refusing to let go of the "Well your people are a bunch of suicide bombers" card.
It's things like this that reinforce my view that no matter who is talking, no matter how right they've been before, always be critical of everyone's statements. Never let pathos play a role in an argument. It's incredible how someone can be so progressive one minute and so completely ignorant the next.

Elaborating on this, a tactic currently being used by a lot of people on twitter is to paint everyone involved in the Gamergate thing as white male misogynists. If they do this and paint themselves as defending minorities, women, anyone not straight and cis, they appear to have the moral highground. One aspect of #NotYourShield is to show that people from diverse backgrounds are interested in getting rid of corruption and it's not as clear cut as they want to believe.
The other aspect of it is bringing the discussion back to corruption, as the point of setting it as misogynists vs SJWs is to distract from the issue and fight an easier one against misogynistic strawmen. It's used to deflect criticism by pretending it's about misogyny or whatever and metaphorically using women and everyone else as their shield against criticism.

Follow up to The Guardian's rather one sided piece, was a decent article.

she ain't even mad
from what I can tell the point is not so much to convince SJW's to our side but rather to show people who aren't aware/on the fence that what we care about is corruption in journalism. The childish namecalliing they do only serves to prove that we are the more mature side.
People might want to go tweet at Alec Meet of RPS (Especially Reimu), as he at least seems open to engaging with the #GamersGate crowd, but is confused by the lack of clarity in what they want. (Either willfully or genuinely sees it that way)
What's his URL? I'll send him my twitlong.

There you are.
We've gone full circle. These gaming journalists are starting to expose the fact that they don't really understand systems of oppression, they are just good at writing clickbait articles that sound like they understand it. My favorite:
@Sephinel Just mocking people who are narcissitic enough to think I ask for more diversity in gaming for THEIR sakes.
Uhh yeah. The whole point of this is that you ask for diversity in gaming both for your own sake, as well as for marginalized identities who fall outside of your own representation. That's why "allies" and "standing in solidarity" exists in social justice circles.
These people really don't understand, and they're going to fuck themselves over. Eventually these journos will say problematic bullshit against other social justice people, and the line will fracture and more and more SJ people will pull their support away from them.
Spiegel Online, a rather popular German newspaper, is now reporting about the Gamergate as well.
Of course, they also jumped on the Sarkeesian bandwagon and there's no mention about what the actual problem is about.
edit: also, I think Quinn and company is now trying to ridicule the entire thing by retweeting "#conspiracy" over and over.
I can't find it, are you sure it's still there? It wouldn't surprise me though, Spiegel Online is slightly left-leaning (relative to German politics).
All I see is Apple-bashing over the iCloud hack :v:
Has anyone got a list of all of those websites that all posted "Gamers are dead" or similar articles all at the same time? It was mentioned in a video, probably and internet aristocrat one, but i can't remember which

Only if you ask first about representing them if you want to talk about them explicitly.
Imo standing up for someone without their consent is a pretty shitty thing to do too.
Supporting diversity and equality generally is completely unproblematic since they are concepts not pointing to anyone specifically,
but if you want to support a particular group I'm part of and you're not I would prefer it to be done selfishly.
(I could probably argue that all actions that are done without expressed consent of the "supported" party are overwhelmingly selfish, but then I'd have to go on a tangent discussing what it means to be selfless and whether such a thing exists in the first place, and closing by redefining a bunch of terms to realign them with their common usage. It would be terribly off-topic and a medium-sized wall of text I currently don't feel like typing out, so I won't. Ask me via PM if you're interested in discussing this stuff, just be warned that it's partially a fairly subjective view.)

As I said, people like this hate and are scared of the minorities they try to represent.

Can't believe a countryman is that insane. Probably votes for the Sweden Democrats.
So, is this worth anything or should I delete it?

I didn't get to watch it yet, but feminist frequency actually began critiquing movies/TV Shows.
It kinda moved onto video games from there.

I can't see ratings but I can press them, everything works really slow and I can't see emblemed videos.

There must be something buggy on your end, it works fine for me.

It's curious because it only happens in this thread afaik.
edit: Nvm it just fixed itself, okaaaayyyy
