The funny part is this is a common tactic of shit-tier ultra-conservatives like Glenn Beck, and he has become so famous for it there is a running joke about him that basically goes like this: "Did Glenn Beck rape and murder a girl in 1990? On the topic of language policing earlier- I think we should be contextually aware. Words like bad and moron have essentially no association with those who are homosexual or mentally disabled nowadays. They have taken on more general meanings of 'not good' and 'unintelligent'. However, words like gay, faggot, nigger and retard, still have their specific derogatory meanings of 'not good' (this is only an issue because homosexuality is being used as a synonym for awfulness), 'gay person', 'black person' and 'mentally disabled person'. On 4chan 'retard' is used almost exclusively for that latter purpose, and whilst that's not a good example, I have seen it being used by people when actually trying to talk about them in a general, non-insulting fashion (despite its being derogatory in nature at this point). Obviously, words change their meanings over time, but I think we're evolved enough as a species to be able to just not use those words now that we're culturally aware of how they can hurt others. It's not like there aren't plenty of other words with the exact same meaning, and thus I feel like most people who argue for their right to use 'nigger', 'faggot' etc are actually just wanting to use those specific words rather than anything about 'free speech'.

I've never been offended at words and I think it's helped me look past insults and be more prepared to engage in a debate targeted at the argument (what little there may be) rather than going off track and complaining about the insults. stop getting so assblasted at words on the internet.
