im just wondering, if enough people ask for the info of some twitter account (with this account not doing anything illegal or anything, but could be very well against a group of people or something), is twitter actually allowed to give out info on the account? edit: stupid question, sorry, research says no.
But if you track down and swat someone or get them fired, that's just what they deserved, right?
I don't get what that has to do with each other. Posting publicly available info and calling for people to call someone's job / the police / whatever are very different things. [editline]11th November 2014[/editline] Though admittedly doxxing is a bit blurry since if the info wasn't public at all it likely wouldn't be possible.

It just angers me when people get mad at anyone involved with Gamergate for some random person doxxing a dev, whereas they make their own excuses so that it's okay one way, but not the other.
anyone in on this for fp? http://www.reddit.com/r/KotakuInAction/comments/2lz0wn/holiday_cards_for_aaa_devs/
Milo got sent another gift from his alt twitter https://twitter.com/Caligula/status/532089393390317568
Did Milo ever find out what was inside that syringe?
not entirely related to gamergate but here's a quote from edmund mcmillen from vinesauce's recent interview with him that pretty much sums up some indie devs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJVuLvGjPOc "I can't relate to industry anymore. A major disconnect is self-obsession that indie devs seem to have." edmund and team meat definitely had some major problems with IGF in the past and phil fish (who judas from binding of isaac's design is based off of).
Well it looks like @nero is back.
Did Milo ever find out what was inside that syringe?
IIRC he threw away the syringe before he called the cops.

Oh look, it's a self identified nerd. I wonder what that means. What does 'nerd' mean, Mr. Wheaton? Does it include generalizing and smearing?
I never liked Wheaton I just got that ever present feeling he is a pric.

I read Wil Wheatons big reply on ousting trolls, and it basically amounts to fluff. Really, he even says things like Tor and GnuPGP is needed, but he says that "gaming trolls don't need to be anonymous". If he means that people should identify harrassing and death-threat sending trolls then sure, I don't think it's THAT bad. The problem is, that's what GG has been doing. It's what AGG hasn't been doing, so they can keep their narrative. Really, Wil Wheatons article basically means nothing. There's literally NOTHING to stop someone from sending death threat emails through Tor, or other non-gaming-related networks that allows you to be anonymous. If he really thinks privacy is worth fighting for, then he should just denounce the trolls, encourage identification if possible (since death threats are a crime), and leave it at that. "Privacy for some in certain fields but not for others in other fields" just won't hold up. It would never work in practice.
