TB talks about "social justice": http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sihieb
and blows it out of the park. But honestly it's so simple to refute this logic: "Their logic, which I'd be interested to see if it has any basis in academia, is that you can't be "ist" against the people with the power, that the power dynamic is what leads to oppression ergo, "ism"." That it confounds me anyone belives this.
TB explained this in long form but the refutation boils down to a very simple idea: People are individuals, and power is not nor has it even been evenly distributed based on race or gender. Someone will always be in a position of power of any degree regardless of their race or gender, and the moment they decide to discriminate against another sentient being based on race, gender, or similar concepts, then you have oppression and have "ist" and "ism".
To put it even more simply, as long as you are alive, have the ability to think or move or communicate, while the degree will vary, you have power.
I think the whole "*ism is only *ism when it's institutionalized" is based on the idea that yeah there may be prejudice on both sides, but the prejudice with the back up of institutions is more damaging , and thus where our focus should be. It's not at equality argument, but an equity (might not be the right term here) argument .
The Kuchera article kind of points that out. He isn't saying as a whole that FPS shouldn't have the attitudes it does concerning military, war, soldiers etc. Kuchera is specifically saying COD shouldn't, or at least the attitudes it has are concerning. He isn't saying that there should be a range of attitudes conveyed in modern military shooters (which there are), but rather a certain attitude, which he feels is damaging, shouldn't be.
Also I completely disagree with the idea that a persons feelings would be more informed by a modern shooter about a war in the middle east rather than an actual war in the middle east.

I haven't seen this shared on this thread, but Totalbiscuit discovered this November 9th. He loved it.

Apparently it was made by a GamerGhazi poster to mock him. Guess that backfired.

The biggest problem with it is that it is overwhelmingly brought up to justify prejudice. It kind of explicitly implies that being prejudiced is okay as long as there's no institutional powers that hold the same convictions.
Otherwise it's almost never used. It doesn't serve any other purpose in conversation than to defend someone's prejudice. Anita says that sexism against men doesn't exist because she was accused of being prejudiced. That's overt justification of prejudice, regardless of how you name it - sexism or "prejudice against certain gender".
It's like me saying fuck Tatars, they suck dick and kill them all. Hey, there's no institutional racism against Tatars* in this country, so it's okay for me to hate them, right? Right? Fucking no it isn't, and it makes me a bigot.

It's more Davy Jones than Cthulhu, which is even better.
Can someone explain to me what gamerghazi is?
It's more Davy Jones than Cthulhu, which is even better.
I couldnt decide if Davy Jones, Cthulhu, or a Bloodsucker from STALKER was cooler.
I wonder what he was trying to convey with the choice of Dredd and Cthulu/Davy Jones?
He's a slimy, authoritarian maniac?

Imagine /pol/ but angrier and against GamerGate.

A wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Just kidding, it's a load of people whose sole goals are to defame the people of GG. They're mainly based in their subreddit by the same name.

But Gamerghazi is never right. It can't be like /pol/.

I wasn't trying to defend the denial of the existence prejudice on one side, or agree with it, or that individual prejudice isn't bad. Just saying that it is an extreme (almost corrupted) view of the equity over equality argument, which isn't that unreasonable.
Was going to make a new video on gg, decided to just upload these two segments instead
This is missing any semblance of a clear direction. What are you even trying to say with that?
The description too:
I originally was putting together something new on this shit but I couldn't figure how to express myself without being doxx'd, tho I liked these two segments I prepared for it.
Really? If you want to repurpose leftover scraps you should at least wrap them a bit to give context. This video is, for lack of a better word, garbage.
(Not to mention you did quite a long video about Gamergate before so this makes no sense at all.)
The minimum effort would probably be to add a bit of context (on screen text or whatever) and to properly source each clip.
Which seem like they are badly out of context too. This is somewhere between collection of sources and mood setting intro but does neither of them properly.
The added music is unfitting and just shouldn't have been there in the first place in any form.
So don't support the game or go after him.
Unless you want to support it for what it is that is. Which is advice that applies to almost anything.

Imagine playing a sonic the hedgehog game, except you play as a naked overweight white male. Whenever you jump and do a spin, you squirt feces in a 360 degree arc.
Thats how they see the world.
I'll respond to you shortly when I get back home but the bottom line is I made a 9 minute webcam vid of me speaking on some shit and wasn't satisfied with how it'd be recieved during editing
I get very nervous when I upload something because I feel I've fucked up on something. I don't write many scripts up either so I can't rely on anyone else than myself being my standards and practice's.
Let's just say the original video used slurs that I knew would get me into a lot of shit with people who are against gamergate, I commonly forget these words can really anger people
I'd prefer not to say what they were but yeah
I don't know if anyone here read Dan's AMA when he did one, but for me it really dismissed a lot of bad air around IGN. That explains not posting the originally planned video, but not really the scraps you posted.
(But I suppose that's what you want to write about in the upcoming post.)
You also really should use a script, at least until you're confident enough that you can improvise the whole thing without slurs and while staying on topic.
As far as I know most YouTubers use scripts to a large extent. The few that don't either still have clear talking points they can pick up on when they stray off-topic or are really good at public speaking.
Also always keep in mind whom you want to address in your videos:
- Gamergate supporters?
Then you should collect information for easy access, and add resources to act on them.
Alternatively make some creative piece without any attempt at being informative.
- Undecided or misinformed people?
Make it very accessible, very non-inflammatory and source all your claims.
Also don't blatantly follow an agenda (without being open about that at least). (That goes for anything though, especially if your are following one.)
- Anti-GG?
Don't bother, unless you have a different, tangentially related, but important topic to talk about like Reimu does.
I think you could make a decent video about it, but you really need to read up on some video production theory and become a lot more professional beforehand.

The problem with this is that the site owner is clearly Pro-GG. It could easily get accused of creating fake archives. That's whats nice about archive.today, it existed before the hashtag.
That's why it has archive.today usage and imgur usage as well, so no problem there.

It's more then misinformation, it's misinformation from a placement above peer. Kinda need a large voice of students and faculty to reprimand and reverse such a stance.
