Given our opponents' ability to reason I'd say we have nothing to worry about :v:

You're talking about our mindless politics. There is some concern needed.
It needs a close eye, that's for sure.
I'de say this last month, but reason doesn't cut it in congress.
considering we're facing a few red years i don't think we have to worry about them gaining much traction in congress, but it will be good to go against it nonetheless

There's a tipping point right now for the internet and it's not just net neutrality.

Heh called this over a month ago. These idiots are so predictable: if they can't win the argument, they will attack your ability to say it.

I forgot you did, I thought it was only me with a tin foil hat, though I thought fabricated experts were going to show up more before this was going to happen.
And thinking about it now, I think they plan to fail to that they can play it as a card to push private companies to act on polices like wam and build up such power to hit again in congress.

Yeah now that you mention it where are all the "experts" talking about how cyberbullying rapes our children's minds or whatever?
Anyway my guess is that this won't gain traction among US politicians unless they can attempt to jam some more warrantless spying provisions or some other illegal shit into their cyberbullying legislation.
So I was in the GamerGhazi (Anti-GamerGate subreddit) IRC chat today. We had a discussion about actual corruption in gaming journalism and stuff while at the same time a mod (mudze) was removing threads he disagreed with. There's something interesting stuff though:

In the end I get a link to Brianna Wu's podcast that disproves that she hates video games because she said so. There wasn't really any other critique other than some cherrypicking over discrepencies in the number of patreon supporters and funding for the Sarkeesian Effect. When someone pointed out that you can donate to a person's patreon privately, the guy said "Well they're probably still donating to themselves to increase the number." When I asked why someone would 'donate' thousands of dollars to themselves for no reason (especially since there's a 5% surcharge so they would be leaking potentially hundreds of dollars for no reason), they said "I don't know, to make themselves look more popular?"

Yeah, decision very quickly made. I absolutely refuse to date a guy who requires that I give up a treasured hobby. I like playing games as much as I like reading.
Besides, this just smacks of control issues.

Control issues which a lot of fedora-tipping nice guys seem to be taking part of. Which is why I find this tweet so bloody ironic. Because GG opposers think they're fighting against those fedora donning atheists.
is GamerGhazi an ironic title?

Hopefully. The fact that they're making light of the Benghazi incident while rallying against Gamergate's sense of humor is hilarious.

It's either that, or it's just "Ghazi" which means a muslim warrior set on removing the non-muslims.... Equally offensive either way!

I don't want to be in any relationship where my significant other tries to control who I am.
Likewise, I don't want to be in a relationship where I feel it can't survive unless I change the person I'm with. That shit's just disgusting. Love each other for who you are, or find someone who will. Shouldn't require a degree in rocket science.

They can't (or at least are very unlikely to) pass a law that is gender-specific. If they pass something (which is not that likely considering the US's approach to "free speech") it most likely would backfire really badly since the assumptions these feminist groups are basing their actions on are at best an incomplete picture of reality.
I think these people going to the legal system is actually self-destructive in the long run. The legal system has no tolerance for hurt-feelings bullshit when it comes up against legal rights. Either they push invasive legislation that can be held up, scrutinized, and used as ammunition against them, or they get shot down for their usual vagueness and subjectivity which have no place in law.

So basically in the unlikely event this passes that Geogie Trait guy (among others) is going to jail for attempted genocide

Well to be fair, everybody is entitled to establish whatever criteria for sexual selection they please. Even if they are onerous, arbitrary, childish, retarded, asinine, controlling, or limited entirely to drawings of squids being lewd.

Oh I know, that's just his admission of making death threats and that he actually meant it
Reading that IRC log by the sounds of it they consider anyone who doesn't publicy announce they arnt a bigot and bow down to tumbler grade SJW politics a walking hate crime.
In this day and age you really don't have to have a press conference to announce you don't hate anyone its kind of implied you don't to begin with.

I have come to the conclusion that almost every "journalist" site is run by morons.
You can criticize the things you love, but don't criticize what I say!
Tested com'on get people like Jeri Ellsworth to speak at your events if you want to represent women in the maker/DIY field. Watson's speech was majority about herself under harassment, wow I sure learned about women in geek culture!
Oh you're going to want to see this one: https://twitter.com/_icze4r/status/535847585773539329
WikiLeaks for Tech Devs. It's coming. We got journalists talking to game devs, we're gonna have WikiLeaks for tech Devs. It's happening.

Didn't surprise me at all, Will and Addam attended xoxo fest. And this kind of thing is media wide.
[editline]21st November 2014[/editline]
Jeri Ellsworth is way way down the contact list, if she is even on it at all. This is just one hop outside the Tested direct personal/business contact circle.
disclamer: I've known Jeri Ellsworth on and off for years
It's true, tested has even forgotten her product when a month later previewing it talked about AV and AR products problems while Her product overcame those problems.
I'm worried about Jeri because I'm seeing pieces like on a chess board try to use her and she has friends that would be labeled as SJW even though by her nature she's rebellious and asks questions that get her into trouble. She retweeted about falica day getting doxxed, which we know is not true.
And related to GG she's got shit thrown at her like ant GG is doing right now almost a decade ago and that nothing compared to what all three LW's combined have gotten.
Now that would be one big blow.
So basically an anonymous drop box for whistle-blowing?
I think there's even a ready-made kit to set up a site like that by now :v:
(I at least assume so due to how many WikiLeaks clones there are out there.)

This is annoying me too. It seems that (excluding resolution) it's going to be better but I fear that it will have less support than the Rift because it's less well-known... but then again it's not that difficult to hook into the API and make Rift games at least mostly compatible from what I've heard about the interface.
The only potential big issue I see is if one of the trackers required custom prediction in the game software to work well.
Technical Illusions seems to be a lot quieter than the competition though, so it's possible that the journalists are just extremely lazy and not properly keeping track of the developments in the sector.
