With rhetorical shrapnel flying everywhere, one ironic low was achieved when popular and resolutely positive gamer Steven Williams, aka Boogie2988, found himself simultaneously maligned as a brainwashed feminist by self-declared men’s rights activists and fat-shamed by self-declared social justice advocates.
Glad to see somebody finally point out the bullying from the corrupt social justice journalist side.
Gaming Journalism Is Over
The gaming press declares that gamers are dead. But they are the ones who are becoming obsolete.
Slate readers are over, declining—a dead demographic.
Why on Earth would I start a column with this thesis? There is no faster way to alienate my audience—that is, the people who pay my bills. And yet, this is exactly what writers at not one but half a dozen online gaming publications did to their audiences last week, and it points to a significant shift in the business of gaming. Gamers are not over, but gaming journalism is.
Why does that guy have to be a prick about it?
Why does that guy have to be a prick about it?
I don't get that impression?
I have a feeling that we will be seeing a few more of these in the next few days. I doubt they will actually change much in the long run though, the journalists will probably just be a little subtler about who they are friends with.
I'm on that podcast that Baldwin is meant to come on and wow these guys are conservative as fuck.

conservatives are the only ones who will directly touch the gamergate thing apparently
Remember how I said I would make a compilation of harassment towards gamers?
Well I made an album on imgur:

Some of these are beyond depressing, especially the one about the 10 year old kid getting death threats.
Gamergate Is finally on

From what I've been told this one predates gamergate though.

this guy is using the same language SJW's use against them to see what happens
its great
Urgh, I am annoyed by how many Games Journalists tried to present Jenn Frank's firing as being a misogynistic act by the #GamerGate crowd.
My understanding of how it went down was that she writes for The Guardian, who actually adhere to professional standards of journalism, #GamerGate basically alerted them to fact she was not actually meeting those standards, and so she was fired. The only reason she was 'targeted' was that she worked for a publication that gave a rat's ass about its code of ethics. (Due to actually being a Journalistic endeavour, not a bunch of whingeing wannabes)

This whole thing makes me so mad because they're just flat out bullying people and they can't see why they're just as bad as the people they make fun of
I generally don’t read gaming websites because I don’t like sifting through rewritten press releases and underage toothbrush incest anime coverage to find one or two genuine pieces of content.
Sheesh, you see one gif of an anime girl getting horny over a toothbrush and it follows you forever.
Sheesh, you see one gif of an anime girl getting horny over a toothbrush and it follows you forever.
Which gif is he talking about?
If a Social Justice Warrior is using video games to push an agenda, you can rest assured that these rightwing non-gamers suddenly swooping into the scene with inflammatory anti-feminist headlines are doing the same thing, only from the other side of the political spectrum. If you care more about your political viewpoint than you do about video games, by all means welcome them as heroes. But if you truly care about video games, I can only suggest that these are not the droids you’re looking for. At least the dreaded SJWs have been writing about games day in and day out for years, not merely at this opportune moment.
These are not people who want to talk about video games, let alone play them. This is the co-opting of video games to push political agendas—the exact same thing gamers are accusing SJWs of doing. The enemy of your enemy is not necessarily your friend.
Big nail on the head IMO. Be wary of people on the far right.

I can't agree with this enough. I'm kind of alarmed by the amount of positive reception the recent talk show thing has been getting.
I've felt the same way.
It's more of them trying to get in a "LOOK WHAT FEMINISM AND THOSE AWFUL LIBERALS ARE DOING" without really caring about the issue. No, it's not feminism or liberalism that is causing this issue. It's a group of corrupt individuals creating a barrier of entry and stirring outrage against anyone who talks against them.

/v/ was dead on when Anon's were saying that Adam Baldwin is a maverick who could hurt things for us.
Baldwin and his crew are going to draw in a lot of conservatives. Hardcore conservatives. It's going to bring a lot of unneeded attention into gaming, and it's also going to turn gaming into a battlefield for non-gamers to play politics on.
Nobody will win if that happens.

Yeah, they were indeed. Though I think this has been heading to a no-win scenario since long before Baldwin and crew got involved, but that they only made that outcome far more likely.

IDK when Burch fucking lost it and put this on his gearbox.com bio but what matters is he did. Look at "Titles I have worked on".

This actually is a great article. Some points are... disagreeable maybe, but overall it's a quality piece.
What irks me most about both sides of the debate is their unwillingness to simply accept that the other side might have valid, or at least sincere, points. As human.
Nah he did that to himself. I think I'm the first to notice. I was looking up gearbox employees, I was thinking he was breaching some kind of professional conduct saying the things he do. Was thinking about mailing Gearbox about it.
