false report spamming
shouldn't people who false-report get suspended themselves
A few false reports shouldn't get you banned. Mistakes happen after all. The best solution is probably to setup a pretty basic algorithm to automatically put very low priority on reports from systemic abusers. Terminating their accounts isn't going to really help. These are the sorts of people who will make hundreds of alts.
Can't wait for anti-GG people to take those last 2 or 3 tweets out-of-context and use it as an example of Gamergate's hatred for women or something.
I'm surprised how many people on facepunch were stupid enough to think "AGGmyn" is max or even an AGGer in general
First of all, no anti-Gamer Gaters actually refer to themselves as "AGG"
Second, "AGGmyn" is clearly a combination of "AGG" and "womyn" which is one of those made up pronouns and wouldn't be used in a username except to make fun of Tumblr users and such.
It's just a guy taking advantage of the outage to stir up some drama.

Yes, though I'd say most are just rolling with it for fun.
Why would anyone do this, wtf
Technically speaking this is actually fine.
Terrible PR, but he offered to give everyone who bought it after he mentioned Steam keys a refund.
He's also clear about his motivations and it's definitely his choice how to run his business.
Personally I don't have any problem with him doing this.

I made a Google Alert for Gamergate, it's quite useful for following the news articles about it: https://www.google.com/alerts?t=1&q=gamergate
You should change the settings a bit so it doesn't just catch "the most popular news in English".
There's still a lot of "misogyny!" stuff but for example the IGDA's blunder was big enough that I didn't see a reputable site not mention its true purpose or the fact that they painted their chairman as harasser.
First of all, no anti-Gamer Gaters actually refer to themselves as "AGG".
People call themselves AGG all the time
There's even a subreddit with that name
It's his choice to run his bussiness into the ground granted if he had any investors they would be really pissed.

I really don't think anyone actually thinks that it's legit. It's fun tho.

'Womyn' is actually used by some activists as an empowering term. That's how it started.
Not even joking.

But yeah, Craptasket is probably fucking with us about Max.

The FTC has confirmed that the recent ethics revisions are a direct result of Gamergate.

FTC is dead, FTC is over. we dont have to write articles for FTC. etc

The FTC is caving to a misogynistic internet hate mob!
Now that the feds are on our side, it's only a matter of time now.

You mean the 'fuck the police' mentality? or something even more retarded?
FTC is clearly a sockpuppet

What argument are they pushing? if the FTC straight up says "yeah its because of GG supporters", what could the opposition possibly say??

Really sick of the suggestion of a "council"
I might get flak with this some how down the line.
How many anti-gg'ers does it take to screw in a lightbuild?
[sp]Don't know, they didn't attempt it and blamed the light switch being broken because of cis white males[/sp]
How many pro-gg'ers does it take to screw in a lightbuild?
[sp]donate to my patrion to find out[/sp]
Really sick of the suggestion of a "council"
I dont like this idea about organizing people via public votes either, making threads suggesting ideas and action plans, and if people are motivated they'll join in because they are intrested in helping, that is the method that's made GG so sucessfull and we shouldn't try to change that.
FTC started to look into it before GG.
Right. But this gives me conflicting views. Either the FTC didn't do this because of GG, or they did. That's a binary. Other factors would be that they sped the process up, or similar. But as for the cause of action, I'm not so sure.
I expect the FTC was looking in to it prior to GG, but GG accelerated it.
It really makes me sad when stuff like this happens only to remember that some real favorite figures are AGG and probably won't change their stance anytime soon...
It really makes me sad when stuff like this happens only to remember that some real favorite figures are AGG and probably won't change their stance anytime soon...
Sometimes I feel like even if GamerGate gets vindicated by the mainstream media, a good number of them will probably hold onto that AGG mindset to the grave. Especially Joss Whedon, since he's a HUGE fan of Anita Sarkessian. Even if she got exposed as the scam artist she is I doubt he'd ever change his mind about any of this.
It feels to me like a lot of major figures out there like to take the moral high ground not out of any actual sense of decency, but instead purely because they like that smug sense of superiority that comes with it.
Updates from Wikipedia land, we are now in the proposed actions after evidence was compiled, what this means, is that parties can suggest what abritation to do, it's also a way to reveal what peoples motives are : lets continue from the last post.
Proposed actions (No user attached.)
For:
NPOV - I put this is in the "For" section because Against believes that the current edits are neutral in all cases, for simply believes it is not. This will enforce the NPOV and not "wikipedia's opinion (Impartialness)
WP:RS - When a reliable source posts an opinion article, it should not be taken as fact - Enforce disregard of opinion articles.
Verifability - Stopping reliance on "reliable" sources and instead verify information before taking it as fact just because it's a reliable source (Mostly same as WP:RS)
Sanctions C: Sanctions against users who are involved in "exchanged hands." (Paid editing, basically just for Ryulong!)
Points of view include moral assumptions about a person or group. Though the bulk of the press has presumed negative morals to the subject of the article, this opinion remains the point of view of the press. It is easy to verify and even find articles, however, that plainly state the people involved in the article's subject do not hold the same point of view as those condemning them. To be specific, it is inappropriate to directly insult a group in Wikipedia's voice by insinuating or accusing them of being "misogynists".
Neutral:
Civil - Forced civility between both parties.
Outright remove article - Remove article completely as it has no relevance.
Sanctions A: Sanctions against any and all users who are in groups involved in Gamersgate. (Ryulong, Masem, etc.) (Also Systematic Bias.)
Rewrite : Completely rewrite the article from users from other wikiprojects.
Sometimes an editor needs to be discussed, but it should take a much more secondary role, argument should focus on points not people.
Against:
Sanctions B: Enforced bans against any and all GG'ers as they are a hate group.
There is no need for arbitration : Remove abritation altogether from the case as they have no right. (The rest are neutral.)
Arbitration is not a new forum for solving a perceived content dispute.

Scary times ahead.
P.S I can't make those proposed actions up : check it out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/GamerGate/Workshop
