Carmack works at Oculus these days, over in hardware development. I don't think it's him.
What if it was...JOHN ROMERO and this is his revenge against the press for tearing up Daikatana?
They'd have to be a big enough company to be targeted by AGG. And judging by him mentioning Enviromental artists it's not a hardware division ruling out SCEA/SCEE and any more xbox bros. My bet is he's an artist at blizzard since they got flak during blizzcon for not straight up saying it was GG harassing people. Edit: 99% sure it's David Cage.
From the Google alerts: Inquisitr: ‘Halo’ Franchise Director Receives Dozens Of Death Threats Over ‘Master Chief Collection’
[...] Death threats have also become a common refrain in the GamerGate controversy with figures on both sides on the receiving end. The bulk of the reporting has focused on threats to anti-GamerGate figures such as Anita Sarkeesian and Brianna Wu though, and largely ignored threats received by pro-GamerGate figures such as Breitbart’s Milo Yiannopoulos. Wu and the scores of other women who face personal hateful speech on the Internet may one day have more options to deter their attackers. [...] If the court came down on the government’s side, it could have far-reaching implications for what people can say, both online and off, says Sarah Jeong, writer and recent graduate of Harvard Law School and former editor-in-chief of the Journal on Law & Gender. “You’d have to be more careful at a political rally about what you say, you’ll have to be careful about what you say in a classroom, in public on the Internet as well, but really in every medium,” she said. But she believes that the court will ultimately side with Elonis. She says that in fact, some regulations already on the books could protect those who are being threatened online, the larger issue is that law enforcement has done little to actively respond to these threats.
The second one's not quite as nice but at least they quote someone saying that stricter harassment laws are a terrible idea.
Edit: 99% sure it's David Cage.
That would be the worst.
Imagine if Goldbat turned out to be a very 'liberal' dev who'd done something major for social justice before- we already know that some AGG people are being paid to express that opinion, there's a chance that it might even be somebody we currently know as anti-GG.
http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sisj7r
just read this and i'm very curious who this guy is, it seems like he might have a fairly high position, especially considering
@THE_GOLDBAT HAD AGREED THAT THEY WERE READY, WHEN THEY WALKED INTO THE OFFICE @THE_GOLDBAT WAS SET ON "COMPANY OUTING THEMSELVES AS GAMERGATE SUPPORTS OR THEY WERE WILLING TO RESIGN ON THE SPOT OVER IT"

http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sisj7r
Can this person lay off the capslock?
just read this and i'm very curious who this guy is, it seems like he might have a fairly high position, especially considering
hideo kojima the ultimate ruse
So do we have any proof that this guy is actually a dev and that we all aren't being taken through a loop?
hideo kojima the ultimate ruse
that would confuse me more than anything
So do we have any proof that this guy is actually a dev and that we all aren't being taken through a loop?
Seriously. I wanna know who this guy is because I don't wanna have our very own Brianna Wu no one doing a coming out or something...
Seriously. I wanna know who this guy is because I don't wanna have our very own Brianna Wu no one doing a coming out or something...
We'll wait and see, we have much better happenings in the meanwhile.
hideo kojima the ultimate ruse
While that would be hilarious, Kojima seems like the guy who would just outright say it.
Yeah, the sooner the better, shouldn't leave us hanging much
So, mass migration to 8chan.co/gamergate/ from /gg/ in progress because of niko. It's being run by the gamergate.me guys and the person whos been running /gg/ for the last month. Already a few changes i like in the rules and setup, mainly it's just a good thing to be away from niko, he obviously doesn't give a shit about gamergate anyways or he wouldn't be doing what he is. So, this move is kinda a test for 8chan's model. The idea being that people are supposed to migrate en masse if they don't like how someone's running a board, and whether it's actually practical. The /gamergate/ board was, at first, presented as an alternative to /gg/ if things went wrong and people have decided to move over before niko get's a chance to screw up again. My thoughts about the inevitable "this is fragmenting the movement/stop infighting" comments are that, well, gamergate has never wanted to be a hugbox or echo chamber. Infighting and fragmentation, at least where the ultimate objective is still agreed upon, is healthy. Maybe if it was based around figureheads/factions forming or a different flavor of dogma or something then it'd be a problem but thats not representative of the focus on evidence based reasoning in gamergate, which is certainly one of the main things we have going for us.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-09-27-bobby-kotick-slags-off-tim-schafer After giving this a second read Kotick doesn't sound so bad at all, tbh.
hideo kojima the ultimate ruse
Nah, you think it'll be Hideo Kojima, but then actually it'll be Raiden.
Nah, you think it'll be Hideo Kojima, but then actually it'll be Raiden.
Nah. An (allegedly) powerful and influential guy, operating under an alias, that suddenly gets up in arms against a shady totalitarian programme that aims to extend its control into politics and mass media, to manipulate people's thoughts and actions through censorships and forged narratives? Goldbat is obviously Solidus. [editline]2nd December 2014[/editline] Video games. A weapon to surpass Metal Gear.
i'm gonna assume all of this shit is fake until anything is confirmed. it's very strange, as is the secrecy around identities.
i'm gonna assume all of this shit is fake until anything is confirmed. it's very strange, as is the secrecy around identities.
There's no reason to pay any attention to it at all until it's confirmed honestly.
Honestly I don't give much of a fuck either way. Having big names on our side isn't really that useful. These journalists write their own reality, they don't care about big names aligning with gamergate, there's virtually nothing that can be done to change their views. The only way it's useful to us is it causes drama, and drama is useful because it means AGG can shoot themselves in the foot over and over again until they don't have a leg to stand on. The only thing that's going to secure any gains in the long term is by strangling their funds; either removing their platforms, or their platforms views, until they are forced to change or find new work - and the only way that is going to happen is by exploiting AGGs mistakes and lunacy to show to advertisers, business partners, administrators and 'officials'.
This Goldbug guy is supposed to be some big AAA higher up? If it's Kotick that would be a surprise. Hopefully the reveal will go something like this.
i'm gonna assume all of this shit is fake until anything is confirmed. it's very strange, as is the secrecy around identities.
The way they're attention whoring and hyping it up is annoying as hell.
If developers come out as Pro-GG, that will basically mean the end of much of gaming journalism. Prop up a few pro-gg sites and youtubers, have the devs only interact with them, and just like that the idiots are strangled out of existence.

Ultimately it's up to us. We have to keep discovering stuff like this while sticking to sites and people we know care about ethics, but always be vigilant to any changes.

But your right in that much more substantial gains are in targeting the journalists directly, and which is of course the ultimate focus of any extra people we'd get.
The way they're attention whoring and hyping it up is annoying as hell.
yeah i don't think anyone worth any value would do something like this it seems very childish
