It is. Sarkeesian invited all of her buddies to film this.
People are literally being offended by anything and everything that has something to do with gender.

so GG is ToonTown then?
trying to get rid of cogbots and the corrupted cogbot corporations that spawn in the toontown cities with silly gags?

Not really sure how to word this in a way for non developer types to understand, but I'll give it a go:
1. Developer A submits a code change that simply changes a gendered pronoun.
2. Developer B says no, as it's trivial, and doesn't add or improve functionality.
3. Developer B gets thrown under the bus, nailed to a cross, and booted out.
4. The main developers realize that the project is being run by idiots, and take their ball to play somewhere else.
5. Uber, which had just recently had to deal with a sjw smear campaign, jumped to the new project almost immediately.

"Are you serious? ... In this case, master/slave is used by every database server..."
That the bias is systemic in the industry doesn't make it legitimate. Django has a choice here, to be a leader and change the language, or be a follower and continue to use problematic language because everybody does.
Ugh there's that buzzword we all know and love again. But on topic master/slave has been in use in computing since before most of us were born. I'm sorry but changing such prolific and well understood terminology due to "feels" is WRONG.
oh my god they are actually fucking doing it

i like how by saying that it is racially charged language they're implying only black people have ever been slaves

Man, that is some retarded logic. Do we remove any words that is controversial in the slightest, regardless of context? Should we replace the name for computer virus because millions of people die of disease each year?

So there are some kind of game awards event this evening. Who's willing to bet some appalling stuff will be said about GG there?

Yes, he does, and it's one that's chronically ignored.

Just think of Lara Crofts recent reimagining by Rihana Pratchet. She's human, weak, vulnerable, and over confident which turns her into an emotional wreck later.
How many people lambasted that game for making Lara weak? How much focus was paid on how shes "almost raped" at one point? How she's the underdog and not a traditional Lara. I thought she was wonderfully written and very human, entirely relatable in cutscenes(When i'm in control and she's taking out 30 guards with an arrow to the face mechanically one after another I think that's a bit different than the character in the cutscenes) but she's been done in such a way that it's a strong, but human character.
I hated the criticism of her because it seemed like "Well what can we have then? You hate bayonetta, a strong and powerful character designed by a woman, and you hate Lara, a weak and human and relatable character also written by a woman. What is possibly going to be good enough to satisfy these critics".

Critic should be able to see both the good and the bad, they are not critics, just pointless bashers like people giving 0 to a game that had awful DRM (or because they didn't like the game series/developer/publisher) on metacritic. The major difference is they get paid for doing it and dress it up with 'social justice' crap.

US releases have been censored for decades, nintendo used to have fairly onerous policies back in the day.

They interpret TB as thinking that gay people in video games is comparable to teenager harassment, but I think he meant that making one of the most defining characteristics being that that character proves he or she is gay at most every turn rather than what you would write as a straight character with the same circumstances sort of ruins the point, making it seem more like you put it there just to connect.
A random example would be the game my ex-boyfriend the space tyrant. I honestly couldn't stand its way of writing at all, even though it was trying to give a very positive message empowering homosexuals in video games

All past snapshots are still present, but are "darked" (invisible to the public). It could also have been the decision of the IA staff.

This is something I highly agree with, and is the basis for why I feel that you have to critically analyse all aspects of a game and the contexts before determining how the characters are portrayed, and if that is in a negative light or a positive light.
I've been gone for 2 and a half months under a rock, will I even be able to have the time to get updated on all the crap that's happened since I've been gone?
Please stop giving gamerghazi any attention or concern, they're harmless idiots. Focus on the real issues

I read it as TB wants well written characters who just happen to be gay (with that included in the well written part), rather than them being gay being their defining characteristics in a "Hey I'm GAY!!!!!!" kind of way. With their sexuality being treated as normal and equal as any other persons sexuality.
Liuke Warehouse 13, one of the characters comes out as gay and...absoloutely no fucking big deal is made and it's also not a defining part of their character, it just is, which imo is how it should be for any sexuality.
