I feel most people who throw this around do it for the wrong reason and don't understand what's actually being said there.
The fact that jumping make shooters less accessible is completely true, and it's explained further down

However, the problem lies in the fact that AbleGamers is expecting game developers to alter and remove core mechanics of their games to account for people with disabilities. It sucks that some people are unable to play certain games, but ruining it for everyone else is not the way to go.
It's the equivalent of demanding football to be played by crawling to level the playing field for people on wheelchairs.

Idiots should shut the fuck up, researchers at Stockholm University (my school) works on more advanced controllers to help people with disabilities work on the same level. I've seen people with severe stuff playing Doom and Quake and shit, it's awesome.
Really, ablegamers seems to be focusing on making "disabled-friednly" games when that's way more ableist than what they claim games like CoD n shit to be, if there was any stock in their campaign they would promote research of controllers that enable disabled people to play on the same level as non-disabled.
Well if people can't enjoy a certain games for whatever reason that might be, tough luck I guess? I would personally be the first one to welcome more games that are more 'niche' so to speak, (hey independent devs, isn't that why you are there? oh, you prefer making flash/java games with PR and drama, got it), but requesting something already existing to cater to an audience that obviously isn't a priority for the developers is arrogant as fuck.
I will always support the development of more advnaced controllers instead of having devs take certain design decisions.

AbleGamers checklist for games for disabled. Note how you too would like a lot of the features mentioned on the list. The things that irk me are stuff like, "no precision" and shit. Like, with sufficiently advanced controllers, someone that's disabled would not have a problem, unless it's mental I suppose.
Im all for helping the disabled be able to experience things on an equal level as most others, but this is the wrong way to do it.

Nothing to do with GG.
Leave this be, at worse it adds LOZ-style jumps to COD.

The only real bad ones from that list are button mashing, no precision and the ones that eliminate timing stuff. The rest is pretty reasonable.

i would say it would be too difficult to make every pc game be mouse only/keyboard only
[editline]7th December 2014[/editline]
you would have to sacrifice far too much functionality for many games for that to be viable, especially for mouse-only

It depends on what type of game it is. More casual games are usually mouse only but they could easily have shortcuts added to them so that they can be played with keyboard only. As for more involved games then yea it's almost always impossible.
AbleGamers charity is claiming it was DDOSed.
There is some evidence to suggest they just blanked their own page.

Again, leave them be. If we're quiet it's basically provable they shoehorned their way into the GG spotlight. I have not seen them take part in the conversation until now.

yeah, i was referring to more complex games. like, imagine trying to play arma with only a mouse, you'd have to get one of those WoW mice with 50 macro buttons on it just to be able to get base gameplay down, let alone actually being a useful team member
Again, leave them be. If we're quiet it's basically provable they shoehorned their way into the GG spotlight. I have not seen them take part in the conversation until now.
It's not as much shoehorning as GG was planning to hold a donation drive for them. Mercedes was going to host a charity drive for them but Ablegamers declined when it found out the drive was being done by gamergate. So like prideful twats they sent this email.

Then they post this
https://archive.today/e3Q4m
Then people find this
https://twitter.com/ItsMehWeesnaw/status/541664045430882304
and this
https://archive.today/iwkDT
Now Ablegamers is saying they have no idea who DDOSed them or what they did but that the pages are now blank.
https://twitter.com/AbleGamers
So it's all up in the air as to what happened.
All in all, fuck Ablegamers. They declined money that would have helped it's beneficiaries.

There is no confirmation on what exactly happened. Some are suspecting they just didn't buy enough bandwidth from their host.

more that a bunch of people pinging them to see if it is true could cause the slightest of disruption which they can use as ammo. we've already got our proof that their servers are still up

The original document also splits them into different tiers by effect/effort ratio, the latter categories being more "for consideration" than anything else.
AbleGamers is really reasonable for the most part.

They denied charity because it came from a "political group." and constantly use in their statement released after the ddos that they were attempting to "weaponize charity."
And then say in the same statement :
Let us be clear, we encourage, except, and ask for donations to continue the support of gamers with disabilities, which we have been providing for over a decade, for anyone who wishes to be charitable.
They aren't sending a very good message.
