What is this about /pol/ dying?
What is this about /pol/ dying?
Filters and stuff. Don't you worry, it dies every week.
Not like it was dying for months and years. Even before it became a thing it was dying.
I just had a thought, I wonder if Games journalism has always had an issue with corruption from the inside in one way or another or if it just came about in the last few years with the rise of "Social Justice" and the Internet being so wildly available.
I ask this curiously since i used to collect magazines (And i'm sure a lot of people here did too) for the Playstation 1 and 2, as well as Games Master and a few others back when i was younger, and back then you wouldn't think if someone was trying to push any sort of negative narrative back then like what we are seeing, in a sense. They just didn't give much of a toss. Political Correctness wasn't as rampant then as well. I wonder what the writers of these magazines are doing now and i wonder what they think about all of this.
Certain people would have a bloody heart attack if they saw a cover like this now.

...I really wish i didn't get rid of my damn Magazines, i would love to read them again since i did have the slight issue of being young and not being able to read that well. I wonder if i could find them in a Car Boot sale or something, I'd play good money for them just to scan them so i can share it all to the rest of the world.

Personally I think this "playing it safe" is actually the best way to effect positivity.
If you condemn something that feeling always lingers regardless of the precise message.
If you support something then it happens too, but since the feeling is the opposite it's more likely for any individual to perpetuate the message in kind than by widening yet another distance just for that.
It's also disarming in the best sense of that word.
I'd have to agree there.
I'd honestly rather see more positive messages across the board when it comes to this whole kerfluffle, and this kinda' fits the bill.
I probably should add to that that I don't think positivity always equals positive change.
It's great to have it but the more angry "burn it to the ground if they continue with this garbage"/"let's dig up the dirt on these 'social' 'justice' people" aspects are necessary too since not everything can be reconciled when some people argue in bad faith.
They don't exclude each other. On the contrary, I'd say having both of them around is a huge strength of #Gamergate.
We can count the art and jokes coming out of this too I think, in addition to the charities.
The part where movements definitely go wrong is when people start acting out of hatred/fear.
The fraction of people in pro-GG who do that seems to be fairly small though.
Most of the louder people seem to be just really angry.
I guess the same can't be said of anti-GG with the amount of fear mongering and blanket attacks I keep seeing.

I am so fucking tired of this whole SJW epidemic. I'm just counting the days until the "SJW bubble" bursts and an army of George Carlins and Bill Burrs take over and flood the damn internet with corrosive witticism and inflammatory remarks.
Pompous cunts, the lot of them.

I personally believe there are multiple factors why we ended up in situation
-Favoritism and corruption was probably already around at the time, just not as rampant. We've seen that often corruption comes from personal relationships rather than straight up bribes. The advent of the internet made it incredibly easy to get to know journalists and developers.
-Now that the indie scene is thriving, a lot of the people who are truly interested in videogames migrate from journalism to development. We're left with SJW who know barely anything about videogames and are in it either just for the money or to push an agenda
-Online publications have much lower standards than printed magazines
-Gaming wasn't as widespread and it was already being heavily criticized for violence; no point accusing gamers to be sexist if you're already calling them violent social outcasts and losers

ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS TO USE (PC) WSAD, SOMETIMES CROUCH BUTTON, JUMP BUTTON AND MOUSE TO COMPLETE THE GAME. WHAT IN THE FLYING FUCK IS THIS BULLSHIT?
i'm really sorry for rant, but jesus h fucking christ, next time put a trigger warning on these types of post because my butt is definitely now hurt
It's people looking for storylines to strenghten their identity as victims. Listen to what RuPaul has to say about SJWs and overly politically correct, hypersensitive cunts.

God that reminds me of the Star Wars Battlefront demo I got from one of those. Did you know that the Rebel Smuggler used to have an OP ability that was basically a Stormtrooper disguise? You could put it on and walk right into the Imperial base on Endor to blow it up with mines and then attack the rest of the enemy from behind.

Unnecessary and demeaning caricatures aside...
Japanese feminism never caught on like it has in the west. I don't know enough about Japan or feminism to really say why, but it is an intriguing correlation that Japan ranks low in gender parity studies.

Game "journalism" has been corrupt since the rise of american fanzines into mass market circulation, aka the days of ce and vg, diehard gamefan, gamepro and egm. Having already started voice over stuff for a video. It was also never journalism to begin with, which is a monstrously huge part of the problem we have today.

RuPaul thinks that drag queens are the same as transsexuals and gets all pissy when we say he doesn't speak for us and shouldn't throw shit like 'tranny' and 'shemale' like they're nothing. I bet he wouldn't like it if I smeared boot polish on my face and started singing minstrel songs.

I don't know the guy, but based on that video alone I already love him.
Here's a video that's pretty old but relevant. It was a show where some Muslim girls called "The Halal Girls" invited a Dutch comedian called Hans Teeuwen. He had offended them in a silly song he sang when he was asked to speak at the reveal of a statue of a friend who got stabbed to death by an angry radical muslim when he called Muhammed a goatfucker. The girls intended to teach him that it was wrong to offend and that there should be limits to freedom of speech, and Hans Teeuwen then proceeded to own the Halal Girls to kingdom come.
Some politician later noted that the most frightening thing in the universe is when you realize the jester has outsmarted you.

I'm going to politely disagree with you a bit here. The issue with RuPaul's usage of the word tranny is not that he uses it- he's free to use it as he pleases. But 'tranny' isn't just used to refer to transvestites. It's also used- offensively- to refer to transgender people, especially trans women. This comes from people conflating transvestitism and being transgender, two separate things which shouldn't be confused. He's free to use the word how he wishes, but he then says that no person should be offended by it. Personally, I think it's equivalent to calling a black person 'nigga'- you wouldn't do it in the street, but maybe if you have a discussion with them and they say it's okay, you can say it to them. Sorry if this is policing, but this is a hot topic in the LGBT world and a lot of transgender people tend to not be okay with it.

Don't ever try and argue with Hans Teeuwen unless you want to lose. He's a LOT smarter than he gets credit for, and always reads up a TON before making statements.
Also considering there's no credible source whatsoever on Sarkeesian consulting for DICE, I hope people tossing around that useless petition stops.

Prime example right here. Calling out a comedian, but completely turns it around and calls *them* out on their bullshit. They couldn't handle that interview, mainly because comedians are sharp as fuck, and they're not.
They "politely" tried to impose their ideas on him, to prove that he only wants to upset people. The guy is just a comedian, nothing more.
Stephen Fry said it best, "It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so fucking what."
People like those muslim women, living in a hypersensitive bubble, are and will always be in for a fucking rude awakening - that's what freedom of speech is all about, you insufferable cunts.

Most comedians (if not all) are very quick-witted, he danced circles around them. It was a lot more than they could handle, clearly.

You do realize that it's all about the weight and emphasis used in those words, what makes all the difference between an insult and a personality trait, yes? Why aren't you aware of that?

That said, it's hard to keep them out of it when they keep injecting themselves. I'd seriously wish we could just stop talking about at least Sarkeesian and Wu altogether.
