Corruption in gaming journalism discussion and update thread.

I'm still at a loss as to what Chu was trying to even convey in that. He kept trying to divert the discussion into areas tangentially related at best so he could prove some kind of point. But even the host wasn't having that.
Also that other woman, no idea who she was but her opinion seemed to jump around like crazy depending on who she was talking to. Though she wasn't bad during the thing at all other than the fucking epic maymays constantly.
I was going to say, again, I've lost count how many times it's been said now actually.
But for a movement that insists it isn't about these people, you sure as shit talk about them all the fucking time. If Wu and her mates are not important as people (which they aren't, ethical journalism is an industry problem, not a personal one), why the fuck do you lot seemingly stalk their Twitter accounts waiting for the next chance to lay down some ~sick burns~~
Just fucking ignore them. Completely. Pretend they don't exist until they do something stupid on national TV or whatever. And no, calling them "LW" does not count, you're still fucking talking about them.

Oh sorry I forgot I'm not allowed to call GG people out for doing dumb shit. How about you actually try and tell me why what I'm posting is pointless rather than hiding behind a rating?
You might have a point if she was some random tumblodyte, but she's one of the people regularly going on major internet, and even mainstream media to perpetuate the narrative.

GG calls out other GGers for dumb shit. which is why everyone rated you dumb.
You might have a point if she was some random tumblodyte, but she's one of the people regularly going on major internet, and even mainstream media to perpetuate the narrative.
I think the problem is people want to document what she does so people can do something with it eventually if they need to. Archiving everything makes sense. If someone goes on some MSM platform and makes a bunch of wild claims it's good to be able to refute them and try to demand some sort of accountability and what-not, but that's a secondary or tertiary objective.
The scams are big, but first we need a platform where we can actually disseminate information effectively. The scams are enabled by the shit-tier journos and ass rag publications, and they're more of a threat than the scams themselves in this situation.
People ought to drop the Chu-Wu bull and go out of their way to thank Al-Jazeera for hosting and ask for more. The longer we get to talk about what's going on, the longer we get actual air-time, the better off we are because we actually have facts and objectives. This is a way in, so we ought to shove as much information through this hole as we can until it either widens or closes off completely. This is how we win.

No...no...I'm fairly sure my point still stands. Call her out on dumb shit she does in public facing media things like news and articles published by her. Disprove her there. Try and actually resolve the problems there.
Do not stalk her on twitter looking for shit to laugh at or make awesome memes out of or whatever. Ignore her otherwise. You managed to do it with Quinn for the most part, why is it so hard to just ignore Wu when she's just on her account tweeting? You're giving her the attention she so dearly desires.

I agree with this, there's no point chasing her down for death threats that may or may not be real. It's a waste of effort. For all intents and purposes she won that battle.
Didn't we have a couple of pictures of Wu 'proving' that 4Chan attacks her, when in fact the picture in question was created prior to events even taking place, and something about formats and shit?
I remember something like that. She never left her home, that's pretty much obvious. She wasn't harassed out of her home, nothing of the sort happened. We know it, we can't prove it, and even if we could, no one's gonna listen to us, so yeah. Just drop it, the bitch got away with it.
No she left her home, she left to go to a local tv station to do interviews for CNN and MSNBC. It's pretty obvious what happened and that's why she's under criminal investigation.
What sexism in gaming, now if you excuse me I will get back to yelling at little cunt ass bitch whore on GTA multiplayer.

Uhh... You may have noticed the title of this thread says corruption in gaming. We may discuss sexism in here, but only in issues which are at least tangentially related to the main issue at hand here. News doesn't always fly in quick about this stuff.
What sexism in gaming, now if you excuse me I will get back to yelling at little cunt ass bitch whore on GTA multiplayer.
That is your choice, if you want to yell at a "cunt ass bitch" in GTA it's your choice. The game never forces you too, the game never displays it as a right thing to do, it's an option. It's your choice. It's not real, it does not encourage you to do so either.
I'd be glad to hear your opinion on how the game forces you, or otherwise suggests to kill or harm women.

This guy has shitposted/trolled before so just be wary responding to him.

Lead by example then damn.
Lead by example then damn.
Regardless if hes shitposting or not it deserves at least one rational response. My post was advising people not to take it too seriously.
There was also that thing with her dog, where she posted a screencap of the offensive tweets which timestamp said they were tweeted 1 second ago. Those tweets were also very obviously a bait and yet the words seemed to be carefully chosen and not like your average internet troll, just like the "letter from an ex gamergate" she received.
https://archive.today/vA1nH
So either:
1. She made those herself
2. Someone she knows made those and then sent her an indignated screencap on his real account (however, why wouldn't he just link the tweet instead of screencapping it?)
3. Some troll screencapped their own tweets, posted it somewhere and she found them (no mention of this, and why wouldn't she call out "8chan did it!" then? she's done it for so much less)
The big pile o' coincidences get bigger and bigger uh?
Those "dog threat" tweet was made by "LiquidPenguins", someone posted an archive of the tweet where he admitted to it, but I lost it. He's just an abrasive user in general.

Awesome, hopefully we can drop this now.
Wu should be treated like every other troll ignored and shunned.
Hell she could be utilizing all the controversy to sell her game.
There are opportunists abound in this issue its important not to lose focus of whats important to you.
I've never seen a single Anti-GG person actually talk about her game. Probably because it's unbelievably shit.
I just lurk around a bit in this thread and like what you guys and GG are doing.
Just thought I'd share this article since I've never seen any gaming site do this before the whole FDA productlinking thing before. http://www.pcgamer.com/the-pc-gamer-holiday-gift-guide/
The part I'm talking about is this:

Sucky intro, but it's based off of this wordpress post.
I never looked it before but holy shit the wiki article is biased as hell
While drafting up a scathing email I got the total amount of the successfully funded charities on http://gamergate.me/charity/
In total, $118,348.93

"...Arthur seems to be the only person who's taking the position that 'GamerGaters are dickheads and they need to stop', it's really difficult for him to get a word in edgeways."
Implying that's a bad thing :v:
Seriously though, I don't know why anyone would want Arthur Chu to represent them. He's about as extreme as I've seen from the Anti-GG side; I'd much prefer to have a discussion with someone that is...well, actually open to discussion.

has there really been a Anti-gg person who is open to conversation
every time there tries to be one Anti-gg rips that person apart themselves and leaves them for dead.
the rest of them are smug dipshits.

Before anyone goes crazy because the Tor Project did a press release about harassment and feminism, it's unrelated.
The Wu thing seems like grasping at straws. Not worth pursuing.
Even if she is still at home (which I honestly think she is) no one in their right mind would report on that. Assuming her threats were real (which again, I don't think most people believe) the last thing we want to do is give her more of a reason to cry harassment or give her alleged harassers more information to work with. If someone were asking me on live TV if I was at home after getting threats I sure as hell wouldn't admit to being home either. That's just playing the devil's avocado though
I agree with you, but I hate the idea of letting people get away with just lying publicly like that.

A suggesting was made by anti-gg to start a religion more or less. Think of the tax benefits.

yes unless they add more to it, so let it go for now.

iirc the infamous "tax exempt" status is a single digit percentage; a tax-exempt church (assuming 'the holy see of #endgamergate2015' gets past the IRS) would have like 90+ percent the same tax breaks as any other nonprofit organization
so it wouldn't even be worth it
