Sargon made a video: It's fairly good, but I think the conclusion drawn from this is more the "the player character doesn't matter" kind. Might just be me because I like to see diversity in games (but diverse main characters really don't matter to me as much as diverse NPCs).
has there really been a Anti-gg person who is open to conversation every time there tries to be one Anti-gg rips that person apart themselves and leaves them for dead. the rest of them are smug dipshits. [editline]12th December 2014[/editline] remember kotaku from 2006?
The guy who wrote for Slate participating in the Al-Jazeera interview presented a very reasonable argument despite being anti-gg. He seems to be one of the few who actually has an inkling of what the situation is like socially from our end, and I never thought I'd be so glad to essentially be referred to as a "useful idiot". http://www.slate.com/articles/technology/bitwise/2014/10/how_to_end_gamergate_a_divide_and_conquer_plan.html Essentially, end gamergate by giving gamergate all the reasonable things that gamergate wants and thus appease the moderates. Because nothing in drafting a code of ethics and cleaning up journalistic policy so that your network doesn't operate like a gossip column and violate women's privacy like Gawker has done goes contrary to feminism or progressivism in any way and would end the current fight, leaving only the /pol/ crowd to really continue under the /gg/ banner. Of course, he gets shat on in the comments by anti people because "THAT WOULD MAKE IT SEEM LIKE THE THINGS THEY'VE DONE UP UNTIL THIS POINT ARE A VALID WAY TO GET YOUR WAY." And other bullshit about not taking anything that gets said by /gg/ seriously until /gg/ lets go of the hashtag because, hey, identity politics, right?

When we do it, it's male gaze and objectification, when they do it, it's cinematography rules. Riiigght. P.S - Actual corruption! This stuff is extremely common and somebody seriously needs to regulate shit like this. tl;dr, they will only review your game if you pay them, giving coverage only to games with the money. The guy who made the game in question got the same thing for a bunch of other websites as well, it floods the mobile market.

This pisses me off that they think that they are immune to critizism and should in general be thanked for their "contribution" with their "video-game". Fucking dipshits should not be allowed to voice their opinions because all they do are treating people like shit and screws with other peoples lives. They have ridden this hijacked consumer-revolt long enough, trying to take control over it the entire time and failed gloriously every time. Wu and the gang are fucking sociopathic sexist scum. Sorry for this, had to air out the bottled feelings i've been holding about GG.
So uh anything mainstream?
Well of course, but we can do better than that. Anything in the Saints Row series, GTA V, Hatred, Postal 2. All that fun shit.

Interestingly it had a decent art style for a game they claimed wasn't trying to be art.
I was playing off the "shit that would piss off Sarkeesian and her friends" thing but sure whatever floats your boat.
Hatred is just bad though. It pisses a lot of people off. Play something that would annoy her but is actually good so you don't have to torture yourself just for the sake of annoying someone who wont even see you doing it.

Yesterday I got an email from the ABC regarding GG
ABC Corporate_Affairs8 12 Dec (1 day ago) Dear Mr [ ] Thank you for your email of regarding the ABC’s 7.30 story GamerGate: facing misogyny in the video game world broadcast on 12 November 2014. Your complaint has been considered by Audience and Consumer Affairs, a unit which is separate to and independent of content making areas within the ABC. Our role is to review complaints alleging that ABC content has breached the ABC's editorial standards. These standards are explained in our Code of Practice which is available here - http://about.abc.net.au/reports-publ...practice-2014/. The ABC’s standards for impartiality most relevant to your complaint are: 4.1 Gather and present news and information with due impartiality. 4.2 Present a diversity of perspectives so that, over time, no significant strand of thought or belief within the community is knowingly excluded or disproportionately represented. We have reviewed the story, sought information from the program team and assessed the broadcast against the ABC’s editorial standards. The program has provided the following comments: 7.30 felt that the most important news angle for our program was focusing on the online attacks towards women, which form part of the Gamergate controversy. We acknowledge that ethics and corruption in games journalism is another aspect of the conversation, and games expert Stephanie Bendixsen referred to this in her explanation of how gamergate emerged. Due to the time constraints of our program, we are not able to explore every thread of an issue at length, so need to make an editorial call on what is most relevant and important to our viewers. Despite a mixture of views online about what #GamerGate means, the games industry and media professionals we spoke to believed the movement had come to be more associated with harassment than whatever its initial intentions may have been. Some journalists and developers were reluctant to go on camera out of fear of being targeted online. Recently news website ‘Newsweek’ asked a social media analytics company to analyse a quarter of the more than two million tweets about GamerGate and found that Twitter users tweeting the hashtag #GamerGate directed negative tweets at critics of the gaming world more than at the journalists, whose coverage they apparently wanted scrutinised. http://www.newsweek.com/gamergate-ab...ta-show-279736 I am advised by the program that the reporter attended PAX Australia, one of Australia’s largest games conferences, in order to understand how gamers, rather than people who work in the industry, view GamerGate and how it’s affecting their community. I understand she approached more than 30 people on the day and despite her efforts to find a counter perspective, no one identified as being “pro-GamerGate”. Audience and Consumer Affairs are satisfied that it was an entirely legitimate editorial decision for 7.30 to focus on the aspects of GamerGate which are associated with harassment and online attacks against women. This is newsworthy and of public interest. GamerGate’s association with ethics in games journalism was mentioned briefly in the story; it was not necessary for the program to examine this aspect of GamerGate in detail to achieve impartiality. The program sought a diversity of perspectives on the subject of sexism and misogyny associated with GamerGate and gaming more broadly, which were duly presented in the program. Audience and Consumer Affairs have concluded that the report was in keeping with ABC editorial standards for impartiality. Nonetheless, please be assured that your comments are noted. Should you be dissatisfied with this response, you may be able to pursue your complaint with the Australian Communication and Media Authority, www.acma.gov.au. Yours sincerely, Denise Musto Audience and Consumer Affairs
How can they claim impartiality if they're using biased sources in the first place?
Load of bullshit, they didn't even interview anybody pro-gg, let alone try to see where they come from, they even admit it. What kind of representation is that?
Its the same kind video game "Journalists" give to their readers if there is a narrative or someone holding out a wad of cash you come second.
I wasn't aware the game was released.
I can see into the future. But only for really unimportant shit. But for realsises, an isometric shooter in a contemporary setting that doesn't seem to do anything new (gratuitous violence has been done to the death, civilian casualties much the same) doesn't really strike me as a game that's going to have any real wow factor. Just shock value that is less shocking and more embarrassing (man that monologue should go down in history for how cheesy it was). Unless they attempt to turn the whole thing on its head with some big reveal, but people have been predicting that since the announcement so it's not even going to be that amazing a thing. But it does have okay looking visuals going for it.
