So I just realized that Liam O'Brien, the voice of Illidan Stormrage, is anti-gamergate. That kinda bums me out.

I have to ask: who is trying to fight Metal? Is it the same people we've been seeing at GamerGate or is it another group of SJWs? I mean, if I went and looked at all the tweets of people trying to fight the Metal, would I see any familiar names (McIntosh, Man_In_Black, freebdsgirl, etc.)?

metal is too hard a target to attack really. You want smart people? Look no further than a lot of metal musicians and writers who've been around the block a few times. Dee Snider? As smart as can be. Alice Cooper? Same thing. Rob Halford? Look at some modern metal bands and you'll see that they're pretty intelligent too. These people are not stupid and they do not get tread on well. They stand up for themselves always. And they've made that a very important, commonly held belief amongst the listeners and fans. Most metal heads I know are kind, caring and thoughtful people who just love something passionately and fiercely and will protect it. Most of them grew up in a situation of being ridiculed and attacked. They went to metal for a scene that accepted them regardless. Attacking that scene as being some inclusive hatefilled club is going to ruin these people more so than gamers. Gamers getting attacked is a pretty big deal. Metal, though smaller and less well known than gaming, is fiercely loved by it's fans and they're not going to sit idly by while they're love is being trashed publicly. They'll make a fuss and a stink and they'll be far more impressive opponents than expected because metalheads have never fit the stereotypes they get lumped in with. They're smarter and better spoken than most people realize and it'll be interesting to see what happens if they want to try to have a two front cultural war.

Metal will ride out stronger just like every other time. These things are only issues because its critics made them issues

I think the whole #metalgate thing is an over-reaction to a single article. Somebody thought it would be a great idea to blame the fan base of metal for metal's "problems". The thing is that metal fans don't give a flying fuck what you think about metal music or about it's fans. The whole thing driving metal is not giving a fuck. The problem is that they saw this as a "gamers are dead" type of article and jumped into reaction mode.
