Well, praise them for doing so. Give them positive reassurance. Make them feel good about their ethics that we so mercilessly smudged on them.
send them letters in a kind wording. There's a benefit for this, it's not over and rubbing it in directly will make then bounce back while doing the opposite will show not only a counter example to jimbo but will cause agg to either be more extreme and isolate themselves or give into discussion.
its not gamergate that influenced them to change, its the feds, further proving that misogyny is institutionalized
People are going to do anything they can to try to diminish gg's involvement with the FTC regulations. Don't brag about getting things changed, just celebrate the fact that it is changed. Put emphasis on how this sort of disclosure is pro-consumer and how you're excited about it. These are things most reasonable people will agree with. If by chance someone on the other side comes in and shits up the place by rambling about harassment and sexism and so forth, it's going to look pretty damn crazy to outsiders. This didn't start as a war. It started as a request for honesty and accountability.
by the way people call mcintosh "josh" now https://archive.today/I0taN
joshua mcinjosh
The thing I don't get is when people (mostly Brianna Wu, but plenty of others too) say 'Gamergate did this, Gamergate did that' when it's literally one person or one website. When somebody on their side does something stupid, we don't say 'anti-GG did this', we just say who it is or, if they're not a major figure, 'an anti-GG person'. It's kind of emblematic of the common ground amongst many anti-GG people that they think people on the opposite 'side' to them are all a big hivemind.

Revolution 60 is historically significant hahahahahaha
It won an award ?From who?
How the fuck is it "historically significant"
It's a video game created by the most important person in the world
[...] Also, Kotaku is now putting disclosures on its articles. https://archive.today/5v0IP https://archive.today/ZPJkh
That (a really short one-sentence disclosure) should be the first sentence, not the last. It's a good step in the right direction though.
Whoah wait, that supposed to be anime styled?
It really does look like a bad 90's music video, doesn't it.
Whoah wait, that supposed to be anime styled?
It's not that far off. There are definitely a few anime tropes in the design, though it's certainly a style mix with tons of elements from elsewhere. "In an effort to stop this place from becoming too much of an echo chamber, I'd like you to answer a question: what is your criticism of GamerGate? (KotakuInAction)" (bolded my own agreeances with the below poster.)
-Sperging out with little or no evidence. Seriously guys and gals, we should have learnt better by now. -Eceleb drama, it always pops back up like a bad rash. -Too much pointing and laughing at the other side. Oh noes, some idiot said something, we should totally pay attention and not ignore them. -Clickbaiting with the useless hating. Related to the previous point but this is more specifically related to making a thread [Or in FP's case, a post] and production show of it rather than ignoring it. -Getting huffy with every little mention of us. Seriously, we're not the twitter inquisition, that's not our shtick. -We could do with less arrogance but that's perhaps a personal gripe rather than an institutional one.
Too many people on here are guilty of the third point, seem to be more interested in "what the crazy feminists said" instead of actual corruption. Good news : Gawker has been editing their ethical policy, adding disclosure warnings to the bottom of advertised articles or if the author has a relationship with the article's subject, etc. https://archive.today/ZPJkh https://archive.today/5v0IP Whether they admit it or not, we have done something clearly to affect them.
It's not as good as you think. Gawker staff aren't changing anything, they're simply remodeling the facade facing the street. The side you're saying should be ignored is in direct collusion with this particular side, and it's about a great deal more than a mutual admiration society with "progressive" marketeers on and in the industry side. They aren't going to ever, ever change their views; if there was even a sliver of a chance of that happening, it already would have. If you think the dominant personality type in the "journalism"/secondary marketing industry now is going to take "you" fucking with their five to seven (yes, seven, counting perks and living bonuses) figure income lying down or even at all, you are sadly, sadly mistaken. These people do not give the slightest fuck about your existence on a personal level, and they are not going to "lower themselves to your level to engage in pointless discourse" they find politically and socially reprehensible and literally beneath their social and financial station. They're using twitter for a rather obvious set of reasons.
we have done something clearly to affect them.
What you've done is marginally and I do mean marginally affected their bottom line for two fiscal quarters. What you should be doing is finding or creating alternate sources of news, discussion and open dialog where things like integrity and openness actually do matter and are blatantly displayed in the rough and buff. Barking about a site and then continuing to use it as a base isn't doing anything productive, and that includes wikipedia, which cont to pop op, has never been an objective and open source on any subject.
It's not as good as you think. Gawker staff aren't changing anything, they're simply remodeling the facade facing the street.
The fact that they added disclosures changes something within their standards - meaning they are disclosing if their are advertising or working with people. That's SOMETHING isn't it? It's not hidden behind the scenes - it's bolded and in plain view, they are listening to their viewerbase at some degree. It's ridiculous to assume they aren't paying attention just because they earn a high income.
What you've done is marginally and I do mean marginally affected their bottom line for two fiscal quarters. What you should be doing is finding or creating alternate sources of news, discussion and open dialog where things like integrity and openness actually do matter and blatantly displayed in the rough and buff.
If creating alternate news sources is your solution I will support you or others in doing so - however a large amount of audiences will stick with what mainstream gaming sources are posting - and many of these alternative new sources that have been popping up usually have poor management or utterly biased - there is a reason these are large companies and not small blogging sites. It's hard to take these new alternative sources seriously when they act like small time bloggers. You make it sound easy, but that kind of stuff is resource intensive. These large companies are the ones shaping the next generation of gaming journalists - and if they are hating their audience they are going to find a hard time finding good writers who will join them in the future, let alone have them support their company.
oh patrick you dumb fuck http://blogjob.com/oneangrygamer/2014/12/gamergate-game-journo-pros-interview-blacklisting/
Sent his tumblr an ask. We'll see what happens
I'm very aware of what it takes to make these kind of things work; and it's not just a v-template and some free time.
SOMETHING
That something they "changed" has been industry standard for almost 70 years; again, if you think it's some kind of paradigm shift, it is not, it's simply ass covering for upcoming litigation in future fiscal quarters.
How the fuck is it "historically significant"
the first game ever made by a woman, ofc

This game has historic significance to me. I am trying to work on a game but occasionally I just lose confidence that I can make something. Every time I feel down about working on my game I look back and think that Brianna Wu created this. And for some reason I just feel better about myself. Thank you Brianna Wu.
I wonder how hard they'll push that game when it comes out, and how unremarkable it'll turn out to be. I have heard literally nothing about its gameplay.
It's going to be canceled due to a "hack" or she will go out Phil Fish style and cancel Revolution 60.
It's going to be canceled due to a "hack" or she will go out Phil Fish style and cancel Revolution 60.
As long as people get their money back unlike that other project.
I saw some footage of Revolution 60's gameplay. The gameplay is so clunky and awkward that it makes System Shock 1/2 and NES Final Fantasy 1's combat look like Devil May Cry.

I fucking love how Cernovich just doesn't give a fuck and calls people out on their bullshit 24/7. :v:
