I don't need to when I've already brought up all the points I need to in previous posts. All posts after that were pretty much just "b-b-b-but the MEN" or "blah blah blah SJW!!!11 blah blah blah SARKEESIAN!"
I find it a bit rich that you post this kind of bullshit after you accused me of twisting your words on the page before.
yea the remnants of it do after the SJW's crashed it into the ground with progressive stack and all that shit then left it.
also Patreon updated their guidelines again:

this is gonna be very fun to watch
That second sentence almost sounds like it was designed specifically to try and catch Hotwheels. Looks like we're getting cat videos every month, then :v:

A lot of the guidelines seem to have been worded to try and make it so that Hotwheels can't have a page in any form.

aka prepare the buttpain
while the romance novel genre does give good example of male objectification, i believe it has little relevance on objectification in video games
And why, exactly?
We have two media - videogames (consumed mostly by men) and romance novels (consumed mostly by women). Both feature sexualization. But one is seen as dangerous and harmful, while the other is incredibly common and seen as unharmful. Yet again - double standards!
I wonder if Anita sees anything wrong with twilight.
Within a week someones Patreon will be taken down and they will go to torch and pitchfork calling Patreon Draconian.
Any outlet or publication look into the claims that Wargaming publisher of World of Tanks/Planes/Warships offered to hire escort services for reviewers?

"From this day onwards, any Fredrick Brennans who run a website called 8chan are henceforth banned from using Patreon. This is because of reasons that are important."

To be fair, video games are actually fairly equally consumed. I probably know more girls who play video games than guys, honestly.

That's probably a coincidence, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a sizable amount of men reading romance novels either.
This GG thread is pretty insightful.

Meh, that's extremely thin in parts. Inspirational though, it would make for a good conspiracy novel because technically there are more clues towards it than evidence against it.
(Using video games with a hamhanded social message in classrooms is idiotic btw.
To get stuff like that across you need hours of build-up in this medium, even if the recipients are school children (or at least I hope so. My class definitely wasn't that impressionable).
At worst it would be a colossal waste of money (and unfortunately teaching time).
It's far more effective if you upgrade the existing teaching methods with connected tools (upgrade black boards to smart boards to use video in class more easily than with a TV cabinet, replace books with e-readers to reduce weight, or whatever), to make them more efficient at teaching skills.
In my experience/what I've heard, the only things games are actually really good at in an educational context is teaching through repetition and instant feedback.
That works really really well for maths and vocabulary (and possibly basic grammar), but it doesn't really create a market since the tools already exist since the 90s :v:
Well, that's assuming there's no lobbying to push "improved" versions each year :suicide:)
There are 350 pages of posts here though, and you're characterizing countless people concerned with the issues you've touched on AND about issues of personal accountability, journalistic integrity, and consumer-friendly business practices on this forum and elsewhere on the basis of a handful of posts and ratings.
Well, actually, if you want to use the page count as an indicator of "activity" in this thread, you might want to stop. At the time of posting, Wii60 has over twice the number of posts (1,054) as the next most regular poster here (508). About 7%-8% of over 13k posts are from one poster. Largely all of which are "hurr hurr look at these tweets", not actually bringing much to the table.
The thread is active, but that doesn't mean a lot of the content is particularly good or useful or anything. It's a cycle of "hey guys look at these whacky tweets", "oh man that makes me so mad", "well, look at these whacky tweets", "now I'm even madder". With small nuggets of actually interesting information.

That's kind of interesting. Who are the top 10 posters in here, and how many of them are still active? If you're part of the top 10 and bringing in new source material, what are your primary sources? I know on 8chin we've had a problem with low content posts/threads and it doesn't surprise me that the same is going on here
right now, afaik, there's a bit of a slump, probably will be until the legal action starts happening

I agree that not every post made here contains loads of useful new information but I do not think that we should have people stop posting these tweets and articles. Just recently the kotaku article of 2014 gamers of the year picture was posted. It's these kind of things that aid in continuing to point out the hypocrisy of aGG and that is a good enough reason to post in my opinion.

But are we fighting AGG, or corruption in games journalism?

I wonder if the FP APIs are still up. Wouldn't be massively hard to work this stuff out. Just a bit time consuming.
To be fair, video games are actually fairly equally consumed. I probably know more girls who play video games than guys, honestly.
Not quite, there was this study showing about 50% of "gamers" (quoted because it uses a really wide definition) in the US are women.
I remember reading that the sub-markets were split somewhat heavily, with lots of male hardcore gamers and lots of female mobile and casual gamers.
But are we fighting AGG, or corruption in games journalism?
why not both? aGG sure seems to have taken up corrupt games journalists and journalism sites as megaphones for themselves.

http://lab.facepunch.com/ is the API, more or less.
You'd have to look into the requests to get the JSON API information though.
It doesn't let you access ratings, so if you want to do that you may want to check the Programming WAYWO highlights scraper.

The ones I heard about most recently were actually decent, if used as a plain blackboard and for YouTube at least.
The main advantage is probably that you can scroll just a bit and save the contents. The main disadvantage is that they tend to be smaller than blackboards.

I wonder if that can be spun into something that will make people not like Patreon until they change their rules back. I mean, Patreon actively attempting to sabotage someone just because a bunch of twats bitched about it is a pretty shady thing to be doing. Getting that exposed can cause a lot of negative press for them.

Undoubtedly, if they go through with it unevenly it's practically guaranteed to happen.
You wouldn't even have to spin it :v:
If they apply the rules consequently and fix the ambiguity then all is well though.
I don't think all of the changes are bad, and there are quite a few good ones (joke pages/doing nothing), but some are definitely overly broad.

the one my college uses its great
it's just a computer connected to 3 monitors all around the room for us to look at. the teacher does the stuff using diffent colors with a stylus then when done the teacher can package it up as a PDF and send the entire whiteboard to us via email. note taking is virtually useless in a class like that which is great because im a better listener than a write-down type person.

I was more talking about the full statistical analysis of sources and signal to noise posts :v: Though thinking about it a bit more, parsing all the posts wouldn't take long, working out the context and shit of each post might require me putting some effort in.
too lazy, didn't compute
This thunderclap still needs quite a few more supporters to go off. Currently I think it probably won't happen though.
Another reason why not much is happening are the holidays. There's quite a slump in the tweet count.
I don't expect it to start back up before January.
(I'm currently not doing much either, mostly just reading this thread and nothing else about it.)
Totalbiscuit thinks making a game in twine could be neat because it requires almost zero skill to use, proceeds to get yelled at by 35 people thinking hes implying twine = no skill

The Dead State game is a buggy, broken. unfinished release, in the light of Doublefine's Spacestation game. Basically the developers said "Fuck you." and went on vacation and said a patch fixing the massive amount of bugs would be released in a "month." A month passed and no patch, people got pissed and made bad reviews. The Developers deleted the reviews, making people more pissed. Eventually they caved and made the patches - but it didn't help that the game will still unfinished, they basically declared it "finished" before the holiday sale so they could get extra coverage on the steamfront store. Just look at the screenshots and you'll see what I mean.
So basically, even though they made the patches - they got bad rap for banning reviews that were "being made by alts" (Which is obviously, complete insanity.) And now, the developers believe they are being harassed for being female (or so I assume from the posts they keep linking in their twitter.) It's another case of "bad indie game developers believe they are being targeted for reasons beyond making a bad game." This has happened many times before. Whether or not they have good intentions, censoring reviews and flagging them for "spam" is basically the worst thing you can do when you put a game up on steam. Regardless, they still scammed their early access buyers and refuse to add anymore content to the game.
Actual reviews:
Make no mistake: to pull off everything that Dead State tries would be an achievement for any RPG, and it’s impressive how much it manages. What it lacks in polish it at least largely makes up for in personality, even with glitches and rough edges as far as the eye can see.

An interesting "zombie RPG" that could have (and should have) been much better.

Nothing much to look at, and with a premise that has been dulled through repetition, Dead State is a game that requires you to approach it with an open mind and a forgiving nature. Make the effort, and you'll find a game that makes up in charm what it lacks in polish.
Long story short: It's about Dead State, an early access game. Guy A has a "vivid" discussion with devs on their steam forums, afterwards he posts a review on Steam. That review gets flagged, devs are sceptic about how the review got so many votes in such a short amount of time (because it was on sale), devs claim review is "destroying their game", public outrage begins.

TL;DR don't bother, it really doesn't have anything to do with GG.
The reason people on reddit and stuff think it's relevant is because shes a prominent anti-gamer writer. It's not related, really, but it still causes rage in me when I see a dev release an unfinished game, call her customers "dickbags" then proceed to quote somebody who we all dislike. If that's the type of actions anti-gg is inspiring people to do then that's really not a good thing at all.
[editline]26th December 2014[/editline]
P.S - Anti-gg are now preforming a paid propaganda campaign on reddit, paying for ad's on reddits homepage

Disclaimer : some GG'ers are guilty of this aswell. http://i.imgur.com/2DJjnPT.png . However it wasn't a direct attack against a website/subboard (less worth mentioning, it was only visible on Gamerghazi's board). If anything, shows the contrast between the two.
