Corruption in gaming journalism discussion and update thread. - General

It rather scares me that there are a pretty huge amount of popular gaming fora/websites (Such as Something Awful, NeoGAF and some parts of Reddit) are getting heavily censored by the SJW-supporting mods there, who are banning everyone who is pro-gamergate. As such, all what is happening there is absolute circlejerking where the SJW posters are still thinking that this whole scandal is a plot of the misogynists to oust feminist women who did nothing wrong at all from the games industry. They are actively denying that it is about corruption in the (indie) games scene now. Also, not a single word there about TFYC, it is about Anita, Zoe, Jenn all the time, and how anyone opposing them is obliviously a white cis scum no-lifer from 4chan who is sockpuppeting and weaponizing minorities. I just can't get my head around it that those gaming fora are just okay with it that there is wide-spread corruption going on in the indie scene, which might very well destroy any credibility of the scene if it doesn't get stopped one way or another. I don't want to be tin-foiling here, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if the mods on those sites have at least a link with the people who are trying to sweep the whole anti-corruption movement under the rug. It makes me all the gladder that we are not getting censored or permabanned for our stance on this whole ordeal on this forum. Undoubtedly, a big part of that goes because MaxOfS2D isn't a mod anymore.

Turns out there's a party line that needs to be followed on certain issues, whether it's enforced by shunning people that actually care as "sad brains" and "tryhards" (SA) or banning anyone that disagrees with the party line (NeoGAF, Reddit). I think gaming sites and forums are going to need a lot of soul-searching once this ends.c Reddit has will likely take the biggest hit, as their whole gimmick is free speech and how many people browse their main gaming subreddits. It's kinda hard to harp about free speech when your mods are shutting down discussion simply because it disagrees with a clique that has power. NeoGAF will probably take a reputation hit when it turns out the mods are a wee bit too close to the industry people they have connections to and try to recruit. SA, on the other hand, will go back to circlejerking about how they don't care about any stupid nerd shit while constantly tracking the next gaming relating issue and jacking off to underaged-looking anime girls in their basement they go to after leaving their IT job. The Zoe Quinn thread there was transforming into a general Gamergate thread when some people switched the subject back to making fun of Zoe, and several of the idiots involved with this, like Zoe and her new BF, have accounts there, and based on their language, are still active. Probably the most damning thing is that their trolling subforum, which consists of dudes in their 30s trolling people, and remnants of their political humor turned Maoist (no, really) subform is one of the groups that created Weird Twitter, which has enabled bullies like Zoe. Any sort of discussion about it is being shut down with "lol stupid nerd shit who the fuck cares", which is pretty typical of how SA operates in general.

Ultimate General: Gettysburg, The Trench: 1916 (RPS did a short, short piece on it years ago), Verdun, The Somme, Traction Wars, 0 A.D., just to name a small handful. I never see those games getting covered ANYWHERE and it makes me sad, because they're good games, or are at least shaping up to be good ones.

Oh, and to add to what I said earlier, those games that I listed aren't trying to be ~Artistic~ or ~Different~, they're trying to be good games in their respective genres.

Yeah, coercion into an uncomfortable romantic/sexual situation is emotional abuse. A partner should respect the boundaries of their partner. Gee, you know what I learned these past two months? There are a lot of shitty people in the world. I was never one to be very trustful of others, but all this bullshit seems to reaffirm my belief that you have to be careful around other people. Even "progressives" are often unhealthy people who freely use and abuse others for their own sport.
