ok i think the best part of this, is phil fish acting all cocky because he won the IGF grand prize but turns out it was done illegally
He's gonna choke on it in jail. i never liked that fucking prick. I can't believe anyone actually tried to actually defend him ("this is phil fish" video)
Could someone dumb this whole thing down for a slower person such as myself?
Could someone dumb this whole thing down for a slower person such as myself?
The Transcript is the best thing to read it explains it perfectly. There will be a youtube video soon to dumb it down (and will show the actual evidence).
Could someone dumb this whole thing down for a slower person such as myself?
IGF is a pretty massive thing for indie game devs. Games that win are automatically put onto steam, and win a cash prize. Jonathan Blow and some other people run a program called the indie games fund, this is known, and it is fine. They get some money out of whatever companies they fund. Again, this is legal. One of the companies they fund is polytron, another is the company that made antichamber. Both of these were in the IGF. It turns out that several members of this group are judges at the IGF, meaning that fez and antichamber were pushed through to winning because of the connections they have. This is totally illegal.
Was the IGF price even the source of the infamous "suck my dick, choke on it" quote? I don't know if I should be amazed, flabbergasted, angry or sad or what even is this The nerve of these people to then go and then act like they have how do you even think that way
The FBI is going to have a field day with all the reports and paperwork sent in from/about various people in gaming. Between Anita, Zoe, IGF, Indiecade, Maya...
Huh. So does this mean the whole "Gamergate is fighting against corruption" thing will finally be taken seriously now? Does this mean this whole fucking thing will be over now? Or will the people against "Gamergate" just ignore this (or dismiss it as unconnected) and keep talking about misogyny? Because I have a feeling that last scenario is the one most likely to happen.
Wow, that's a fucking bombshell of a reveal. I hope some of these people go directly to jail (and do not pass go or collect $200).
Antichamber being part of this is a real damn shame. It's been one of my personal favorite indie games for ages, and would have pegged it as a probable winner in a legitimate contest. I mean they're both horrible options, but you could at least see a type of desperate reasoning in someone lagging behind trying to cheat to the top. A natural front-runner doing it is just trying to see how hard he can rub in the win.
Oh wow that was bigger than I expected. That makes #GameOverGate look like a potato gun compared to the Tsar Bomb that this is.
i have never felt true anger before today thanks IGF
RIP Reddit RIP IGF RIP IndieCade RIP Everything
Jesus, that's one HELL of a revelation.

This is probably only the start of the illegal shit, too; I'm sure more and more information will come out from here, and every crime discovered is going to strengthen #GamerGate and make the movement look legitimate. Just keep pushing and people will take it seriously over time.

It's going to be a blasty blast.
ahh, so this explains why so many IGF games are shit
I wonder if the main games press will properly cover any of this business, and if they do if they'll try to use it and deflect it in a way to say "look we're tackling ethical issues, for the gamer"
I'm really glad that through all this shit during the past few weeks that Edmund McMillen/team meat haven't been found to be caught up with it. They are one of the few indie devs that actually care foremost about games, and one of the few that aren't insufferable.
so everyone is shitting their pants over this but is anything actually going to happen as a result
The same thing that happens with all these "MOTHERFUCKING HUUUGE BOMBS BEING DROPPED YO". Nothing.
Gamers are dead tho
Well now they're zombies back from the dead
so everyone is shitting their pants over this but is anything actually going to happen as a result
Quite possibly actually, as this is legitimate racketeering as in a real crime that is prosecutable in court and involves fines and jail time.
