DQ is good but not great. Should be considered a good exploration of narrative in gaming. But Papers, Please easily beats it in that regard as well.

There's not much of a game to be spoken of. A DVD menu screen would probably also count as a game then. Anyways, that's not really important. What IS important is that the IGF people are about to get their asses ravaged.

So I am glad to see that it is almost set in stone that Gone Home only got that many awards and praise from critics thanks to blatant corruption and favoritism on their part.

I still have to say that the Metal Gear series is the most appropriate analog for this whole situation. This is a brutal, ugly thing no one wanted and everyone would be glad if it could have been avoided and shouldn't have been necessary to begin with. The manipulation and corruption and disinformation. I think by the end of this we'll all have lost at least a few heroes. I mean hell, if you just consider the flow of events it has been a roller coaster like the Metal Gear series.

Is the guy who made Papers, Please involved in this? Like was he at the end of corruption or did he participate in it? Because PP is one of my big inspirations to start writing screenplay and thinking up game ideas that I hope to start creating when I learn how to program. It would hurt my feelings if he was somehow wrapped up in it in a negative way On another note, does anyone have a list of developers and websites confirmed to not have any relationship to these people? I'd love to know who would be good to start supporting and studying.

Maya also slept with an IGF judge in order to (allegedly) let their indie friends win IGF, and "Papers, Please" was one of those games that won in IGF. Yet, "Papers, Please" was previously passed up for Depression Quest in an earlier contest. I honestly don't think he knew that Maya slept with a judge so he would win an award. He might have known that Maya can pull strings, but not what kind. And, besides, "Papers, Please" got fucked over earlier by DQ. It's up to you, really. I'm a little upset with Pope but I still respect his work overall. I'll personally wait for more allegations to come out before making a decision.

I just want to play VIDEO GAMES someone on a /v/ thread claimed we were "setting back gaming 10 years" do you know how [I]fucking[/I] radical that would be?
