Holyshit, that's Henry Rollins! :v:
Just a quick thing that may be interesting.
Reddit, The New Yorker and Ars Technica are all owned by the same company, Conde Nast.
Jennifer Hale on NPR in 7 mins. She also accepted discussing GG with Adam Baldwin in the near future.
I'm interested what she has to say.

If you want to contact them 'So, are you a gamer? What do you do when the behaviour of a small group reflects on the whole? Tweet us @MarketplaceTech'
That was actually a very fair assessment and I'm glad Jennifer Hale spoke out about it. Sounds like she's personally sitting on the sidelines for this but also sees the general GG situation as a necessary conversation that needs to happen.

Looks like those emails have worked.

By definition any form of misogyny is dangerous because it perpetuates misogynistic power structures. So that also means any form of misogyny directed at pro-GG women (i.e. the behavior of the NeoGAF owner sexually harassing a pro-GG woman) is also dangerous.
They don't even understand basic 101 feminism, goddamn.

That and the NYT piece were depressingly more one sided than I had hoped they would be.
GOD DAMMIT.
They didn't even fucking mention the #NotYourShield bullshit. What the fuck. They also completely ignored the abuse allegations and focused on the sex with Zoe Quinn.
The New Yorker article is bullshit.
Jennifer Hale though is going to meet with Adam Baldwin over lunch and she's taking a "we have to end harassment to talk about #GamerGate problems" angle. The damage is not so bad and it could've been much worse, she seems to be willing to talk to us once the initial problems with harassment clears (or at least the "everything is about harassment!" card ends).

Why do these people believe #GamerGate is a harassment campaign when really it's about corruption in the industry, even the the name of the movement gamerGATE alludes to this being about corruption. Or are they just gonna straight up ignore that and purposefully misinform their audience.

They clearly have connections to people on one side of the story. That's probably the only way they heard of it anyway.

Might as well send them an email like they asked.
An email about the small group of journalists and sjws going out of there way to make gamers look bad.

Why do people ignore #notyourshield?
Why do people ignore #notyourshield?
Its inconvenient to a narrative. And with major publications, if they acknowledge something like that, then try to pass it off like games journalists by going "It's just white guys/internalized bigots!" they will quickly get called by competing publications for how offensive that is.
So if they just outright ignore it, they can avoid that problem all together, and most readers will be none the wiser.

Ah, so political correctness. I though as much. No wonder its usually crazy far right publications writing accurate articles about this.
I wonder what will come of all this if we win, is there just going to be a new system? Or is it just going to be gone entirely?
I wonder what will come of all this if we win, is there just going to be a new system? Or is it just going to be gone entirely?
A new system will come up. Old one is clearly collapsing. It was going to collapse even without this entire situation. This has just brought it in to the light and accelerated it. They knew it was coming, which is why they've been fighting so hard to say otherwise.
Ah, so political correctness. I though as much. No wonder its usually crazy far right publications writing accurate articles about this.
Not really political correctness. Just the typical "only tell the convenient bits for the best story".
Ah, so political correctness. I though as much. No wonder its usually crazy far right publications writing accurate articles about this.
This "Political correctness" is why people cannot have frank discussions about some systemic problems without being branded with derogatory terminology and marginalized as a loon.
Take for example the high incarceration rates of African Americans, this subject flat out cannot be discussed in a public forum without being branded as a racism. Thus the underlying issues can never be resolved. (hint: "zero tolerance policy in schools", "privately owned prisons", and "war on drugs")
I would argue that this toxic "sociopathic judgmental whiner" ideology, actually enables the continued oppression of minority groups, while maintaining the farce that they are somehow "uplifting them".

but what do i know im white
It's funny this whole issue just started with Steam Greenlight corruption.

Wrong way to think. We already are winning if you truly want to know, hell id say its already won. This has gone so widespread and affected so many people that even less people are going to give those shitty sites and people any attention anymore.
Sponsers and Advertisements are being pulled, people being outed or coming out themselves as huge assholes and showing who they are.
People are really coming together and not putting up with the bullshit they get from fucked up and fake "SJW". This has been happening but this made it much more widespread.
People like Zoe/Anita/Phil have ruined there images more than they ever were.
People already stepping down like that Eurogamer guy.
Id say the people that really love games and gaming are winning and winning hard.
Its just that some magic judge aint coming in and being like "Your sites are hereby gone and you cant do stuff anymore blah blah blah"
But if the IndieCade shit and awards and Zoe+IRS shit and all that money shit is true then yes, something WILL happen and it wont be pretty but we might not hear about that for years, if ever(due to internal agreements). Law is very slow but im not sure if that counts if its the fucking government coming at you.
The most important thing already happened, it spread and spread far, its STILL being talked about and bigger everyday. I see more against the bullshit than being the ones defending Zoe/Etc...
Like I knew the day this started it was gonna get big which is why I spread it so fucking ferociously for days all day. Now look what it became, just #gamergate and #notyourshield are more than I could have hoped for out of this, let alone everything else.
Jennifer hale seems pretty neutral on this
which is pretty cool. she even deflected a ton of loaded questions.
people on /v/ were worried she'd be biased because she's friends with Anita apparently

I don't consider "GamerGate" as having won until outside news sources stop saying that this is a misogyny thing. The New Yorker article and others like it are proof that too many people are still convinced that it's merely a bunch of woman-haters on a misogynistic crusade to keep games manly.

We'll never win. They can claim misogyny is rampant without providing any evidence and people will side with them anyway. They can misrepresent gamergate and get away with it simply because siding with us is the more dangerous option, the option harder to side with because of all the details.

A continuation of that conversation I mentioned yesterday has proven to me that GamerGate still has a long way to go. I tried to convince my bro and his girlfriend that this isn't about misogyny and the progress that's been made. His rebuttal is "gaming journalism isn't real and it's always been corrupt, so why is this so important now?" while she held up those goddamn IRC logs as irrefutable proof that this whole thing is just a fabrication meant to justify "a witch hunt against a woman". They claim to have seen both sides of the debate and concluded that it's all bullshit. And I just couldn't find a way to convince them because there's just been so much shit going on that I can't fucking keep track of everything anymore so everything I say sounds flimsy. Hell, even when I mentioned things like how The Escapist changed their code of ethics they just said "yeah, and how do you know they're really going to keep true to that"? And the worst part is that while my brother is, was, and always shall be an asshole, his girlfriend is a good friend of mine, and she's always been nice to me, and now my refusal to just not talk about this shit with my friends has most likely damaged our own friendship, and she probably thinks I've either been mislead by a bunch of misogynistic shitlords or I am one myself. Those rumors of lawsuits and federal involvement better be fucking true, because nothing else is going to convince them that I'm not some moron fighting for a cause that never existed.
So yeah, this is why the phrase "friends who want to stay friends should never discuss politics" exists. I should have never brought this fucking thing up.
Huh. I completely forgot to mention Zoe's support of the doxxing of a transgendered person. Too late for that now, I guess.
