It's pretty unbiased from what I can tell, it just sums the story up in a nutshell, that it started Youknowwho, then it went to 4chan, Twitter, Baldwin picked it up, people harass eachother, you know, it just tries to be as objective as possible.

The broken-but-somewhat-legible version I got by shoving that article through an autotranslator seems to imply that they believe the #gamergate tag is about moral corruption of the gaming fanbase; and I'd like to know if that was mangled in translation during [i]my[/i] language jump from Japanese article to English, or [i]their[/i] jump from English social media to Japanese.

Then it goes on about someone named Andreas Zecher who is against harrasment and stuff in Gaming, and urged people to stop, and got 2495 signatures, including names from big name devs like Nintendo and Squeenix
After that, it explains that 4chan made the hashtag, it's trending on twitter, and they are calling for the betterment of games media. Also, gaming is growing, as can be seen on the E-sports scene, and through innovations, and now gaming is so big that a celebrity, Adam Baldwin of Full Metal Jacket has began tweeting the hashtag.
Then it closes that this whole thing began , and it might lead to the improvement of games.
As I said, it tries to be unbiased as possible.
I don't really care about video game journalism, I just want to see enough truth come out that these shallow, hypocritical, and all around awful people are no longer able to hide behind lies and distractions. It's just soul crushing seeing these scumbags who only care about looking progressive, even if it means defending and covering for awful people, and knowing they'll get away with blaming everything on the dastardly, woman-hating neckbeards because they have the only voice that we will be heard.

It isn't quite impersonating an officer, or wasting police resources, or even tampering with evidence if the crime also turns out to be fabricated, but it just seems like one of those things some random law-guys must have encountered in the past and cooked up rules for.

I'm not sure about fabricating police involvement being illegal (at least in the way she did) as a distinct crime on the books, but her statements are indeed slanderous and the SFPD could go after her for it. Honestly it wouldn't be a good idea for them though: attacking a prominent feminist in America's current police climate for something most people would percieve as a small issue is political suicide.

Sorry I've been MIA. I'm working on a Twine about abuse for a #GamerGate game jam. Not sure if it will be done in time but I'm pushing to get a good deal of it done, it's turning into a little baby of mine and I think it will be really interesting once it's out.
Imagine Depression Quest, but with much more dynamic choices. How you interact with the survivor affects how much information she tells you. Meaning you will need to play through several times to figure out how to successfully interview a survivor, and you will have to play several times to understand the whole entire story from her angle.
I'm also shooting for illustrations, CSS code for fading/transitions, formatting changes (necessity at this point), maybe music as well. Might be a pretty hefty thing once it's done, I really hope it ends up being a pretty big deal since I'm about to put a lot of energy into it this semester (wish me luck!)
Also - these writers and devs are fucking idiots. Glad they're showing their true colors. Most of them really don't understand racism and misogyny, or else they wouldn't make shitty comments like the one above.
