So if 4chan starts being censored does FP become the last bastion of GG on the internet?
They ran out. Like, with all comedians and funny people. They eventually hit this brick wall where they start re-using material. If you're a good comedian you can usually run with this for a whole career and expand it out.
Cracked writers didn't do that and now they've hit a point where they can only be sarcastically assholish.
Also, quality control wasn't there when it was needed most. There doesn't seem to have ever been anyone working for the site who showed any dedication towards going around and telling writers "this is not what we want on this site", as evidenced by Cracked's long history of extremely inconsistent quality. It was at least manageable when most of the writers tried to do what the readers wanted, but eventually a lot of them stopped caring about the readers and started writing for themselves, in spite of this noticeably harming the site. Cracked doesn't have anyone who will tell them to cut it out, so they're just going to keep at it.

Garry Newman will be compromised next.
This is the end my friend...the end
Good thing Garry gives absolutely zero fucks about anything and everything, I guess.

This man is our last bastion.

We have nothing to fear.
I've seen that gif so many times but this is the first time I've noticed the smaller spinning Garry on the screen
There's also the megathread on The Escapist, which is kind of odd all things considering.
[editline]6:24[/editline]
I just looked into that megathread, since I've mostly been following this one, and they're currently talking about Cracked mods and admins modifying posts discussing Gamergate. Into pictures. Not even relevant pictures; just pictures of pies and webcomics and family crests and whatever else could possibly be laying around their hard drives. This is a thing now?

That explains the threads being purged
so does this confirm that 4chan is no longer the place for anonymous discussion anymore? Poole had said many many times that he would not sell the website because he believed in anonymous discussion. I would feel extremely betrayed if he is allowing threads to be purged and posters to be banned because of things they are saying regarding GG.

It means jack shit.
alright, I've seen that post up about the XOXO thing before tied with sarkesian and I got extremely worried. a bunch of people have come to me saying that 4chan mods arent allowing GG to be discussed and I've reserved judgement on that until I get more information as to why or even if posters are really being banned. I would hope that Poole would just shoot a tweet with some info in it to the current situation.

The writers at Cracked apparently believe that either way GamerGate is the most retarded thing to discuss in the history of forever, so it's not surprising (though pretty shitty) that they'd do something like that.
wait what
4chan threads are being purged now?
wait what

Only safe haven is here and SA :v:

It's getting ridiculous. They're deleting and banning anything that has the letters gg in the op.
Someone made a game grumps thread called it GG thread, deleted. Someone made a thread about why people say gg in games, deleted.

I thought SA had been compromised since the start of this mess

Lots of people are in support of it over there tbh.

To outsiders it does look pretty fucking retarded, gotta admit. If you take a step back and look at the whole thing, it's a mess of uncontrolled groups doing their own things.
You've got guys trying to be internet detectives, trying their hardest to find weird links between anything and everything (no, two people working in the same company or in companies that work together does not make them both complicit in corruption).
Guys going out of their way to give the various sites copious amounts of shit every waking moment.
A group actually attempting to work out solutions by creating alternative sites that have no following at all (people are too busy giving the old guys shit to read the new guys it seems).
There's those massive, fairly out-of-context "infographics" of people being shitlords going around, and sure, the guys in them tend to be total shitlords, but infographics wont win the "war".
To outsiders with no real care or interest in the field of "gaming blog sites that think they are journalists also", it does just look like a bunch of guys being pissed off at said sites because they keep posting things those guys dislike. The movement is far too disjointed to actually get external support outside of occasional right-wing assholes looking to plug themselves for a bit. Sure, it's against "corruption" in the industry, but actually conveying what kind of corruption is going on seems to elude quite a few people.

i guess the mod who does it for free will get nuked soon
4chan said their policy wasnt deleting gg threads. If they didn't want GG threads anymore there would be a sticky or something.

That fucking bastard thinks I'm gullible as shit, eh?
Yeah, I doubt they've suddenly had a policy reversal and are just banning everyone, especially since nothing special has happened.
moot going to that XOXO thing means jack shit, even if he did go. He's a principled guy and knows well how this shit works, he wouldn't just become a born again SJW from it.
It's a literal representation of /v/ because that's literally what /v/ is.
It's an anonymous imageboard, they genuinely don't give a shit about who you are or what you look like. All that matters is your opinion on vidya, and that your opinion genuinely fucking sucks (no exceptions).
There are several female posters on /v/. They dislike all casuals no matter the gender. It's just that females sadly got a bit extra attention with the "girl gamers" stereotype.
Personally, I prefer the non-descript perpetually angry man to Vivian. I think his constant rage is funnier, as well as a lot more representative of /v/ :v:
Plus, there's that picture of Vivian vomiting, which just grosses me out.

what the fuck is XOXO anyways?
I'm honestly ignorant on this subject, is faking police involvement illegal?
I know that fabricating a crime and then calling in real police to investigate it is illegal, since you're wasting law enforcement resources, but does fabricating police involvement have similar rules? It isn't quite impersonating an officer, or wasting police resources, or even tampering with evidence if the crime also turns out to be fabricated, but it just seems like one of those things some random law-guys must have encountered in the past and cooked up rules for.
The answer is probably "it depends", but generally speaking no.
The only part that could be illegal is that this is hate speech/inciting hatred against some group in a way, but she's in the US and there a lot is legal in that direction than in Europe.

hmm. seems innocent enough. Whose side?
I think it's safe to say this "movement" is going to die soon, with all the primary websites treating it like it's only a campaign to harass a singular person (seriously who cares about her!!) it's already going to be shoved under the rug, at least it's made some sites aware that people are taking notice of their actions, and some even made changes to reflect it. It's also pushed forward for many indie journalism sites to appear and hopefully get more attention as reputable sites that don't care for the amount of clicks they get in a day.
Unfortunately, the sites that continue to treat their opinion as fact and claim it's journalism will continue to exist and try to make small issues larger then what they actually are, best we can do is ignore them and not give them any of the views that they are hoping for when they create those articles. (Add them to a block list!)
I don't really know what else there is to this. In terms of the feminists/whatever they are : Zoe is probably famous now, no matter how much "harassment" she received shes now going to be a little bit richer then she was before with the amount of publicity she has gotten (VICE, everyone else.) So unfortunately we are probably going to see more slideshow's on steam.
I think in the long run though this will turn out for the better, even if the initial seems a bit depressing. Just my thoughts and opinions (disclaimer: 90% of this is opinion) on the matter. I know were gonna see more of this, but most likely the whole main plot of it all is over.
