Oh my god this blew the fuck up over the past two hours. I was expecting nothing special to happen today, but first 4chan gets raided because of corrupt mods, a giant mailing list coordinating what game journalists post has been exposed, and now there's a hint about posting more from the list.
in other news /v/ mods continue to do it for free
I have no idea what's going on anymore

This Tyrone vid gets more relevant by the minute, the damage control that is happening there is off the charts.

I was on the verge of just not caring anymore but yeah this kinda shook me out of that.
There is one thing to take into account however. Her platform to spread her ideas was through the AEI, a noted conservative think-tank. I'd be totally in agreement to listen to her views if they were posted by her, in a self-run private manner. But they aren't, it's on the AEI channel, she's acting as a mouthpiece for the AEI, for the video to go up, the AEI has to think "yes, yes this is good for our agenda".
Ignoring people straight-up because of their political alignment is kinda silly unless they've proven to be far too biased. Ignoring political groups that have a history of not actually caring about these situations and have clear agendas by their past behaviour however, seems a lot more justifiable.
This is what I mean when I say be critical of people supposedly supporting GamerGate, a lot of political figures on the right have hopped the fuck on to this train for some reason, and it's not an innocent "yeahhhhhh!!! no corruption boyeeee!!" thing.
I think that being wary of what someone says, especially when related to their organization, is wise. But I don't think that's grounds for disqualification. If Glenn Beck went on the Glenn Beck show and said "The Sun is in the sky," it would not automatically become incorrect simply because Glenn Beck said so.
We should be wary of all these conservative speakers weighing in on this, but we should also be willing to recognize a good argument, even if it comes from someone or some place we would usually disagree with. We should always listen to the other side.
I too am not convinced that moot has been compromised or whatever. Sitting down and listening to someone whom you disagree with does not mean you've joined the dark side or whatever.
even if he does agree with her it means nothing
even if he does agree with her it means nothing
It means nothing unless you act on it in a fashion that attempts to silence dissent. At that point you're part of the problem, being informed and having your own opinions is important.
Meanwhile, war is coming.
There is something dearly poetic about a real journalist exposing gaming ''journalists'' as complete hacks.
keep in mind Breitbart is an aggregation site with an extremely conservative slant and a history of controversy so idk if "real journalist" is what I'd call it.

Again, be careful with the source. We need to vet it before really going into it.
At the same time, I don't see anyone else grabbing this at all, and just like the Occupy movement, we're probably only gonna get negative press.

To me it's honestly no surprise conservatives are jumping in on this; this is probably the easiest target to make the left look dumb in their eyes.

But their arguments don't really help us at all. At best they're just going to be ignored, and at worst they'll poison the movement by making it about promoting a right wing agenda rather than just demanding some basic ethics out of game industry figures. We absolutely cannot win this unless people from neutral or left leaning media point out their hypocrisy, because once enough people who embody the same values they claim to have call them out, they'll longer be able to keep up their facade.
Huh I checked out /v/ and threads were getting rapidly deleted, and then this site wouldn't load, I got a bit worried
To me it's honestly no surprise conservatives are jumping in on this; this is probably the easiest target to make the left look dumb in their eyes.
exactly. this is why needs to be separated from ethics. it's just like someone said earlier, at least gaming journalists and indie devs care about games. these conservatives don't, they are ambulance chasers with a much more blatant agenda. as soon as it's REALLY about corruption and not SJWs they will stop caring entirely

(I remember playing this game as a kid. There is no kid who wouldn't want to play a game involving tanks battle mechs and dinosaurs being ridden by soldiers with laser guns.)
