Who was DDoS'd? (sorry at school, and web filter is a bitch)
We were it seems. I thought it might have just been a sudden influx of traffic but seems we were attacked from what people are saying.
exactly. this is why needs to be separated from ethics. it's just like someone said earlier, at least gaming journalists and indie devs care about games. these conservatives don't, they are ambulance chasers with a much more blatant agenda. as soon as it's REALLY about corruption and not SJWs they will stop caring entirely
I some how doubt it will ever stop "being" about SJWs so long as most of them are still up in arms supporting their side. If this ever starts turning into a legitimate discussion about corruption this whole this thing would probably be over anyways.

We honestly weren't down for that long. I some how doubt this was a coordinated DDoS since I've seen the site go down like this for a month or so now.
Yeah, I'd ignore that for the most part.

Holy Jesus. Uhhhh...yo. Mods of Facepunch. I love you, don't hurt us.
I'm ashamed. This shit is all fucked up. If I was a mod I wouldn't let my views on SJ dictate who gets banned or gets their topics deleted.
for those looking for their chan thread fix https://8chan.co/burgers/ the admin of 8chan says himself
I've been following this fiasco since the WordPress blog if it helps. I won't be taking this board down unless armed men literally force me to. I think that the actions being taken all over the internet to silence discussion of this is disgusting. If it really was just pointless misogynist rambling there would be no take down effort.
[editline]18th September 2014[/editline] Facepunch is the last safe haven (That I know of) where we can discuss this. Facepunch don't fail us.
JESUS CHRIST, anymore further down this rabbit hole and I will end up dead.
We've fallen so far and still haven't hit terminal velocity.
Pretty sure we clipped through the ground.
GUYS MY LEGS ARE STUCK.
Holy fucking shit, this has gone beyond Gaming Journalism hasn't it? No GG thread on 4chan, ruh ro.
I think I found the best video that represents how far we are.
I think that being wary of what someone says, especially when related to their organization, is wise. But I don't think that's grounds for disqualification. If Glenn Beck went on the Glenn Beck show and said "The Sun is in the sky," it would not automatically become incorrect simply because Glenn Beck said so. We should be wary of all these conservative speakers weighing in on this, but we should also be willing to recognize a good argument, even if it comes from someone or some place we would usually disagree with. We should always listen to the other side.
There's a bit of a difference between stating something that is known, and can't really be twisted. And taking part in a social movement your political group has historically given fuck-all shits about. It's really, really damn suspicious that these right wing groups have suddenly taken an interest in games during a discussion where a bunch of people are becoming disillusioned with the (self proclaimed) left, don't you think?

Now you have your own conspiracy theory! :D (its a joke, don't hate me)
I wasn't pay attention for a week (school and shit) but holyfuck, that explains why I couldn't find the GG thread on /v/, fucking hell.
should take out a Gamergate banner on /v just to fuck with the mods
By the way, that post about the mods getting fired haven't been verified, the poster in question didn't leave a posting stamp.
best gamers continuing to be the best gamers
As much as it makes sense, the only thing that bothers me is what would make moot change? What could the Gawker dude do, sue? I don't think their are grounds for that.

They may have some strange agenda going on that is not readily apparent but so far the actual content of their arguments are cogent. I judge what they say, not who they are or what they look like. And so far, all they have said has made sense.
best gamers continuing to be the best gamers
it would also have the best name for a site dedicated to gamergate thebestgamers.net
Honestly, this has gone from just drama to scandal to conspiracy to controversy, but has now hopped on a plan to civil war. At this point, the only thing left is to just keep fighting. If we stop fighting its all over. Seriously though, this goes back to what I had said about this being like fucking Metal Gear. I mean, the mailing list thing, the logs from that, seriously reads like something from the Patriots. Hell, this whole thing is starting to look something like a real world version of the Big Shell incident.
