I'm a gun owner but i've never been hunting. I can see it as something I might like to do. I don't really care about actually getting a kill or anything, I just think it would be great to go out in the woods and track something down.
Yeah, that's always a a good time. Nature is awesome. Hunting teaches you to be patient and to respect the outdoors. You should try it, I'm sure you would have a good experience. It's good that you are respectful of the kill. Most hunters are, but there are poachers and shit in some areas who just go out and shoot whatever they see.. that's probably more in the South though. (I'm guessing.) We eat all of the meat. Nothing like a good deer steak or some jerky. Hell, one deer fills our freezer up with sausage, steak, and jerky for a long time. Much better than the processed stuff in the stores. Here's a few more old pics I found.. It's the buck I'm shooting at with the rifle I posted above.. Not a monster, but it was a good hunt. Hunting season means that all the deer are jumpy as fuck and run out into the road and make my life much more stressful. I come close to having panic attacks late at night while driving, because the idea of deer jumping out is so frightening to me. I don't know why, either. It just makes me white-knuckle the steering wheel.

Especially if you live in the city, it can be fun to get outdoors and see some nature even if you don't score anything. I am sure most people don't expect to catch a fish every time they go fishing. Same goes for hunting.
GEESE AINT GOT NOTHIN ON MY 870 BITCHeS
Elk ain't got nothin on my 695. 73caliber big bore action.
It's a shame I can't find any places in the UK to go hunting. Fuck this next holiday I'm going to america.

Hunting seems fun but i dont think i could bring myself to killing something other than insects :ohdear:
Hunting seems fun but i dont think i could bring myself to killing something other than insects :ohdear:
I am sure most people are in it for the hunt rather than the kill aspect, even if that is the end result.
Poor animals. :saddowns:
If you can't do it in one shot, don't do it at all.
Going Deer hunting here in upstate NY with my Remington 11-87 and my M91-30 Mosin Nagant. I hope I'm lucky enough to get a doe tag. My first bambi back when my hair was short
bear season in my County in VA. My uncle might be taking me in 2 weeks, hopefully it will be fun. [editline]04:12PM[/editline]
If you can't do it in one shot, don't do it at all.
I've had to cut a Deer's throat before, it was not fun at all :saddowns: We carry a .22 handgun while we hunt, for if we don't get it in one shot
You wouldn't happen to be from Louisiana would you?
Mississippi. New Orleans is the greatest city in the world though. I go there like at least 6 times a year.
If you can't do it in one shot, don't do it at all.
What does one or more shots have to do with anything? Some animals are large enough that they may take multiple shots or the hunter might had not hit the kill zone. Sometimes it requires multiple shots, nothing wrong with that.
Well yeah except hunting for sport is barbaric.
Well yeah except hunting for sport is barbaric.
Hunting is a sport and it's not barbaric at all.
Hunting is a sport and it's not barbaric at all.
He means it's barbaric to hunt only for sport since you're killing animals for bragging rights and fun.(we should really avoid this, it's just a counter-productive argument) I would go hunting myself, but I probably couldn't bring it in myself to actually kill something, it'd just be fun to go out into the woods and track something down.
Hunting is a sport and it's not barbaric at all.
Hunting for the sake of killing something is barbaric. If you're going to kill something, use every bit of it, and only kill as much as you can eat or store. I don't have a problem with hunting, just don't go out and kill everything you see.
There really is nothing wrong with killing something for the sake of killing and it's definitely not barbaric either. Killing is part of the sport, along with bragging rights, enjoyment, and everything else.
i like how killing animals for sport is horrible - yet people don't seem to care if anyone kills a rat, snake, or any other type of animal that is commonly killed for virtually no reason.

Killing is part of the sport, along with bragging rights, enjoyment, and everything else.
What in the actual fuck. Also, regardless if you kill for bragging rights or enjoyment, you can still use the animal.
What in the actual fuck. Also, regardless if you kill for bragging rights or enjoyment, you can still use the animal.
That's what matters really. You don't have to go all Native American and do a dance or say some kind of prayer in respects to the damn thing, but just don't kill it and leave it there for the hell of it. [editline]04:02PM[/editline]
i like how killing animals for sport is horrible - yet people don't seem to care if anyone kills a rat, snake, or any other type of animal that is commonly killed for virtually no reason.
People are definitely hypocritical. Personally I've never killed a mouse or a snake. I don't have a beef against snakes, but a lot of people do.
What in the actual fuck. Also, regardless if you kill for bragging rights or enjoyment, you can still use the animal.
A high percentage of people use the animal.
i like how killing animals for sport is horrible - yet people don't seem to care if anyone kills a rat, snake, or any other type of animal that is commonly killed for virtually no reason.
Knee jerk reactions are different to going out with the intention of killing an animal for enjoyment. I don't really think anyone gets enjoyment out of killing rats, which besides anything else, spread disease.
Knee jerk reactions are different to going out with the intention of killing an animal for enjoyment. I don't really think anyone gets enjoyment out of killing rats, which besides anything else, spread disease.
deer overpopulate, run into roads, and cause more wrecks than rats cause disease. And killing a snake or a rat isn't a reaction, you have to take time to assess your thoughts into how to kill said animal.
I was just curious as to where and what people were hunting this coming season, however many people don't complain about the slaughter of cows, pigs, chickens, etc. Eat some tasty bacon, and then say hunting is brutal. Hunting is something people do for Sport and Entertainment, not because they want to kill something. So where is the next big hunt going down?
Well there's a reason they are getting hunted. Ever heard of the term "overpopulation"? Maybe we should start hunting chinese..
Well there's a reason they are getting hunted. Ever heard of the term "overpopulation"? Maybe we should start hunting chinese..
I hate this argument. You don't hunt because you're concerned about overpopulation, that's a fact and I'd think hunting doesn't make too much of an impact on species like deer anyway. That doesn't make it right, it just means that justification is stupid. You know, countries that outlaw hunting aren't overrun by deer, or any other species by and large.

I am in between Buffalo and Rochester. Nice buck by the way. Plus I think October 1st was the last day to get doe tags. Actually I am 100% certain.
