Nobody ever dies. The government takes your grandparents when they die

the government just put it there to act as an accident

I KNEW IT!!! :tinfoil:
no that doesn't happen, when your brain is dead there are simply no functions at that moment. Actually lets explain that by simple process of a picture
*image*
Actually the brain has the ability to slow down the perception of time, and that's without DMT (the super powerful hallucinogen released during death and dreaming) with DMT, endorphins adrenaline and dopamine the brain could in theory live out an entire afterlife in only a few seconds.
Mind you this is only in theory, we still aren't entirely sure if the brain does release DMT, wqe only know that it releases the precursors to DMT and could synthesise it if it wanted.
You'll get to meet Xenu. Final boss fight.

Thats more like it :v:
Seriously, its a very interesting point
You die... your body decomposes
Well when processes in the brain stop consciousness ceases and you die.
So I'm pretty sure consciousness has something to do with the brain :colbert:
And why do we always have these threads? They're shit and filled with some of the most baseless shit ever, and without fail devolves into a religious argument at some point.
That's a huge assumption. There's no absolute proof that consciousness is simply the result of physical processes. It's a bunch of theories. Many philosophers could easily argue this, it's something that's been debated since the dawn of civilization.

but what happens when the afterlife ends
Then you meet Marvin Gaye :smug:
well there is the fairly concrete evidence that when the chemical reactions of the body and brain stop consciousness ceases.
See brain death.
Even if it's something amazing like Quantum Entanglement it still ceases because the chemicals stagnate and no new entanglements are made.
Sorry for asking but what if your brain was blown apart by say a grenade. Then it wouldn't surely be able to release that chemical crap. Very interesting science though.
DId you know, the human brain runs at 100hz? We've got millions of Nuerons firing only 100 times a second in most cases. That's crazy, a computer may fire ar 3-4ghz.
We are like the ultimate efficient multicore processor. If a multicore processor had 10^14 cores...
but what happens when the afterlife ends
That's the thing it doesn't really have to.
The brain could in theory just continually keep slowing the rate of times passage so every second lasts exponentially longer than the last.
Or at least until the oxygen supply in your brain runs out.
The problem is your brains processing power is still limited to real time. So while it may be able to elongate a dream like state, it wouldn't do it for 'forever' and it wouldn't do it well. It'd be like a barely-conscious surreality.

Nah that would be like pulling the plug on a tv.
Everything one second, nothingness the next.

What like a dream?
That's my point, DMT trips are supposed to be like visiting heaven, the precursors for this drug exist in the brain, and it's this sort of stuff which is the basis for the hypothesis, and with the use of adrenaline the brain can allow itself to handle more information at once.
I heard cocaine does the same thing I'mma go to heaven with cocaine.

I'm talking about consciousness as a philosophical concept. For all we know, the mind could be only thing that actually exists (solipsism, although that's a rather lonely and terrible way to look at the world).
Also, I've read evidence of near death experiences occurring while patients are completely brain dead.
Wait wait wait.
Evidence of a near death experience while brain dead?
Can I see this please?
And philosophically some minds can live forever in a sense, the works of Newton, Einstein and the like will love forever, while many will die, the average man on the street who only really effected a few people.
I like to think that nothing happens. life goes on and you go nowhere except back to the dirt. people think too much into this stuff. its like awesome sleep you dont wake up from. no dreams, just neverending rest

How does someone with a dead brain tell you about their near death experiments.

That is part of this thread's demise :v:
Guys it's not like turning off a TV. There's literally no medium for input anymore. It's a solid concept of nothing.
You will meet me and we will have eternal hardcore gay bum sex.
How does someone with a dead brain tell you about their near death experiments.
That's my point.
If a guy is brain dead how can he have a near death experience then tell you about it.
Nothing

I'm not claiming this is absolute proof of survival of consciousness after death either so don't take this the wrong way. I haven't gathered enough evidence yet to form a conclusion.

Their vital signs are restored after surgery (in the case I linked above)
See there's something about that I don't like.
I hear about the whole floating above the operating table thing too often for my liking, sounds like a massive gimmick to me, and to me it could be as simple as this.
1. Before operation, patient is informed of the basic processes.
2. As death sets in brain reacts as it normally would, secreting DMT from the pineal gland and a form of the flight or flight response kicks in as the body reacts to the coming death, allowing adrenaline to make the passage of time slow down
3. This allows her to play through a series of events previously described to her as the operation in a basic overview of the general procedure
4. This ends as the brain is brought back to life and re synced with the world.
Argh, so much confusion!! Sleeping isn't dying. The brain has to react a lot differently to death.
But still, i think this is meandoring into a sleep thread,
Bravehat, do you have any true thoughts about this all, spiritually?
In my faith we go to a magical place with just a huge messhall where eating large amounts of manly steak makes your body parts reappear which is very useful as everything else is a large crushing/slashing weapon and everyone is a huge viking.
My faith is called Grim adventures of billy and mandy.
rate agree if you got anything of what i was talking about..
I hope something happens, but I doubt that anything will.
