• The orange box trailer - RIP Half Life

There's no way to check now, but I think I posted the first news of the Orange Box on FP. I took photos of an article about it from whatever video game magazine I was subscribed to (EGM I believe) and posted them in a news thread. The photos were sideways because I couldn't figure out how to rotate them. :v: There was even a Black Box in the works, at the time, which didn't include HL2 or HL2 EP1. Things have really changed.
I had my orange box case up on my shelf, left it on my desk for one day and the dog chewed it apart Saved the disks but still sucks
I still have this box lying around somewhere... [t]https://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/egamia/images/2/2e/Box-Art-Half-Life-2-NA-PC-P.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20060513044939[/t] Its super beat up though
Ya, gotta agree with the above posters that the 'official' long trailer isn't paced that well... I always preferred the Orange Box TV spot:
Man it sucks that EA will never make another Half-Life game again...
The only thing I own that is Half-Life-related besides the Orange Box is this: [t]https://i.imgur.com/621Tbt2.jpg[/t] I really enjoyed playing this on the PS2, and the co-op was pretty fun.
Also, who here still has the actual Orange Box?
[t]https://servmon.ru/screenshots/2017/08/2017-08-26_00-49-00_Gt35sCnNsi.png[/t][t]http://servmon.ru/screenshots/2017/08/2017-08-26_16-57-13_4p8vLPEzuk.png[/t][t]http://servmon.ru/screenshots/2017/08/2017-08-26_17-00-45_UeJTvPvbml.png[/t] And another game which proved that episodic model is not that great...
Also, who here still has the actual Orange Box? [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/3uc3rDq.jpg[/thumb]
Still got the price sticker on it from Best Buy [t]http://u.cubeupload.com/berniebud/stillgotem.jpg[/t]
I should dig up my copy of the HL2 collectors edition.
i don't have any valve boxes because back when valve made single player games they gave you a 10% discount for preordering the game on steam.
i don't have any valve boxes because back when valve made single player games they gave you a 10% discount for preordering the game on steam.
First world problems lol. We haven't had a luxury of having a fast and cheap internet connection in Russia until ~2008 so having a physical copy with game content on cd/dvd (not that modern bullshit when all you have on the disk is steam installer) was a blessing. Also we haven't had a regional prices in steam back then either so paying 60$ for a game which you can buy in the nearest store for ~15$ was just stupid.
Can someone just explain to me why didn't Valve just announce that they are NOT gonna make a new Half life game? Why did they just say:"We don't have anything to say about Half life at the moment". I think it would be way better if we found out from them and get on with our lives.

They don't make these games just to satisfy the fans or finish the story, the game itself also needs to bring something new to the table.
I think TOB was the first title I bought digital. I remember missing my flight to Cancun for summer vacation and so I went to Gamestop and picked up the then brand new Episode 1.
Showcasing game packages now? I'll join. [thumb]https://puu.sh/sxIgA/3b3a846671.JPG[/thumb]

At best they could have dealt with it in a roundabout way by saying something along the lines of "At present, our focus is not on half life."
I still have my copy of ep2 when it was a free promotion for AMD cards
In the extremely unlikely event any of you don't have it on PC, the 360 version can also be played on Xbox One. It's still listed on the store but you can seem to only buy it on the website and not directly on console. I haven't tried since I have it on PC. [editline]26th August 2017[/editline] Im also jealous of these Half-Life collections. I only have HL1 PS2 and Portal 2 PS3.
What was that bundle with Episode 1 in it, because that's the one I have. And I remember being in awe learning that there was an Episode 2, because it wasn't in the bundle I had.
everyone talking about their copies of the orange box makes me sad because my PC at the time literally chewed the everliving fuck out of the disc :( my dvd drive was broken, and so was my heart after that.

I only bought the Orange Box just because i really couldn't run games well on my old pc plus i was much younger and ended up having viruses everywhere :v: So went to gamestop and purchased the ps3 version, didn't initially like Half Life 2 but later grew on me, then took me time to finish Portal and played TF2 for almost 2 years with an actual community. It was called Generation in Europe. North America got the platinum/adrenaline packs. Generation was the generic brand for all of the packs containing multiple games. The first just contained Opposing Force, the next one also included Counter-Strike, and lastly, a keep case was released with Blue Shift (with two variations of the same case, though it's hard to tell in the photography).
My dad still has the boxes for HL2 and Episode 1. I also have the box for HL2 with the G-Man cover variation. But I don't have pictures of those, so i'll post these instead. I remember wanting The Black Box on PC because I already owned Half Life 2 and Episode 1, not much sense in buying them again, but then I did for my Xbox 360 when I got The Orange Box, god I miss Team Fortress 2 on that, so much fun.
I'll post mine as well [editline]28th August 2017[/editline] And the actual one [t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DITz_yCUIAAmD-m.jpg[/t]
