I can't tell if you're trying to tl;dr my post (in which case, I don't own Rock Band 2, or indeed a console I could play it on, so this is invalid) or something else.
If it's a school dance stick to the top 40s to be honest.
If you want you could play some light drum and bass for something different, but I don't know where you live and I hear americans hate anything electronic.
