Cool, gratz
thanks <3 from now on we are train watch buddies
I found this thread rather interesting, and I've always liked steampunk, even before I knew there was a name for that style. Anyways, it was a lazy Sunday, i got bored and was feeling creative, so here is my first steampunk creation, a working air rifle and scope (didn't make the air rifle or scope, just made them better!) So Facepunch, What ya think?
needs more valves and useless decorative things, otherwise pretty neat, love the color and the scope
needs more valves and useless decorative things, otherwise pretty neat, love the color and the scope
I was thinking about cutting a chunk out of the stock and putting in some clockwork stuff with led's, but I just don't have the time now. And Thank You
I did another steampunk character. [IMG_THUMB]http://th02.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2010/143/5/5/Samson_dude__by_Infernomonster.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] [editline]05:35PM[/editline] click to enlarge even more!
IMHO, if it isn't made to seem all nice and clean, steampunk-related things seem horribly messy. I mean, I presume that is supposed to be a waiter of some kind, but the way he is done, I don't see it fitted for that job. The point of graphical steampunk is either to make it overly exaggerated, yet simple - or to make it seem Victorian and therefore nice and clean.

The old Half-Life 2 world always felt like Dieselpunk to me. It is a shame they scrapped it, it was such a cool environment. I began making steampunk goggles. I need some more materials like thin brown plastic for lenses (these might be hard to comeby, if all else fails I'll use normal, clear plastic), a large cap (I have one, not many 5 litre bottles laying around in my house), some glue. I'll post updates if you want.
I'll post updates if you want.
Do it man.
thanks <3 from now on we are train watch buddies
If I ever receive it in my lifetime! Apparently due to the air traffic disturbances over Europe delivery could take as much as 7-8 weeks apparently :gonk:

I went on the wikipedia though, and it says nothing about it being steampunk. I wanna watch it though, was it good?

Does anyone know if it is possible to get watch parts anywhere, just the mechanisms inside them, I don't want the actual watch though.

The best part about a blimp is that it rhymes with pimp.
Going to post pictures on how the project is going at at the end of the day. It's 5 pm now, just so you know my time EDIT: Here are the cut-outs for the base of the goggles, they're made of two parts, 2 for each eye, they're going to be sewn together [IMG_thumb]http://i46.tinypic.com/2ezp9nb.jpg[/IMG_thumb] One part is cut bigger (to fit in the lense) and other is cut by parts (for easier glueing) [IMG_thumb]http://i49.tinypic.com/122eq8g.jpg[/IMG_thumb] This is the "cut into parts" part [IMg_thumb]http://i49.tinypic.com/w7h1n9.jpg[/IMG_thumb] This picture is with the inserted lense (it is already painted silver) [IMG_thumb]http://i46.tinypic.com/2r26g7a.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Here is the painted lense (made out of a 5 litre bottle cap) [IMG_thumb]http://i47.tinypic.com/2use77r.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Overall, I think it's going to look good.
L0L what. Apparently this is steampunk, I beg to differ.
I used to paint Warhammer models pretty extensively and had some really good guides on how to paint rust and oxidation of metals that sounds like it'd be useful to anyone making some homemade steampunk gear. I'll keep looking for them, but in the meantime to paint copper oxidization you'll need a brown/metallic brown paint, green paint, white paint. Here's an official guide, it does get a bit wordy and confusing if you're not familiar with model painting. http://www.paintingclinic.com/clinic/oxidizedmetallics.htm Basically you prime your piece with brown paint, and then do a wash of a dark green jade. What that means is add water to the paint so it's thin, this allows the paint to settle in the crevices and cracks of the piece. It'll give a fairly believable oxidized metallic appearance if you practice and tweak it.
Steampunk + Dragons = awesomeness
Last Exile battleships are pretty nice.
Man, I wish Last Exile didn't have the sci-fi stuff at the end. The first and second episodes of the series really got me into steampunk.

Is that eye piece telescopic?
i don't understand what steampunk actually is. it looks cool, but i don't know what makes something steampunk.
Got my goggles on Friday, but just remembered now to post pictures in this thread. Might switch out the elastic band with some leather, not sure yet.
Man, I wish Last Exile didn't have the sci-fi stuff at the end. The first and second episodes of the series really got me into steampunk.
It also has the worst opening music in the history of everything.
