but no really, I want that Double-clip on Loupy.
Yes, that does look quite dashing.
For my fiction workshop I have written a story set in a post apocaliptic london police state riddled with smog. The smog is blamed on the steam engines powering the place.
Essentially society has collapsed completely, and therefore built itself back up. The main character is a steamsmith who gets thrown out of his job. Homeless people are rife and most are put into insane asylums.
He meets a man named Duck who lives under a bridge, and when he goes to the bridge he finds that Duck has invented a fan that clears the smog. Simply by the momentum of twisting rope and two pieces of metal he solves the worlds problems. Frank (the hero) tells Duck to say something to someone, but he's told that because Duck doesn't own a home or have a job they wouldn't listen to him. Frank goes to sleep and wakes up in a padded room, Duck severly beaten in the corner. He'd gone out in the night, told someone and been locked up. It's then that Frank realises that the fan was such a simple invention and that someone else may have thought of it already and that the smog is a way of control. With smog so thick people can't see what's happening in the world around them. So he vows to wait for the revolution to come, and help free his London.
Then I ran past my wordcount and had to stop.
There's a lot of comical description (because that is what I'm good at.)

Or maybe little butterflies like in "The Illusionist"
I just bought some goggles that are sorta steampunkish. I plan to work on them a bit, but I got them mostly for Burning Man. I really like them because they are actually well made, unlike all those shitty plastic steampunk goggles you always see on ebay. They're supposed to be vintage and real, but I'm not sure as I have yet to get them. Only $18 so not much to lose.

I'm willing to donate for ya buddy
Oh jeez, Keith Thompson is a god with a pencil.
I'm working on a steampunk inspired war-zeppelin/dance club for my 3D class :v:
Like the one in JustCause2?
That thing was epic. I love zeppelins cause I like steampunk so that thing in JC2 made me drool :v:
Yeah, like that, but more... steampunkish.
I wanted to become a blimp pilot, but I checked it out and it's not for me. You fly at speeds around 30 mph, and I'm sure those could pump out higher speeds. It has decent pay but awful conditions: you're always moving so you can't have a family. I admire the individuals dedicated enough to be blimp pilots.

How?
Paypal?
Steampunk is awesome. I just went on that site, and made myself a whole outfit that would be kicking rad, but it costs around 700 dollars for trousers, shirt, vest, jacket, shoes, suspenders and a bowler hat. If I had a ridiculous amount of money and I felt like wasting it, I might get it.
I've always wanted to commandeer my own airship, but I don't understand how airship battles would work... One well placed shot could bring down a whole ship.
[editline]05:19PM[/editline]
Download "Guns of Icarus" on Steam. It's got good single-player, but amazing multiplayer. If only one person could actually control the ship, and then we'd have airship fights. They need to update the game and add that.
I was just reading it and thought "Wow that is exactly what a friend of mine said" and I saw that it was you!
Hahaha well it's true, what are you gonna do, coat the whole zeppelin in protective metal? Wouldn't that be too heavy/ineffective?
Eyepatch I made a couple of months back.

My friends and I are developing a world for a comic book which is going to be steampunk. Main transportation will be steam airships and truck-like things made of iron-wood.
I designed a city in the skies named Turf-den. It's the capital central of the discovered world.

Here's an unfinished view over the main street.

and these are those who keep the city running, kind of like big daddy.
Other steampunk stuff i've done over the years:

Now I've somewhat ditched steampunk as I disccovered how my anatomy sucks and I've been working on that. That and dieselpunk.
Keith Thomson's stuff is awesome.
Anybody here play Metroid Prime 3 Corruption? That one planet, Elysia or something made me go SQUEEEEEEEE!!! :v:
Also, This year we were supposed to buy our class rings, but they were all way overpriced and not very good quality. So I'm gonna have my goldsmith dad make me a steampunk class ring. It will be awesome!
New Tardis is very Steampunk.
Wow I've never notice.

Do you have 25$ cause' that's how much they cost.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Wayne%27s_The_War_of_the_Worlds
This game has some steampunk elements, Especially considering it's set in the victorian days. The "Armored Lorries" tanks are steam-powered i believe

I'll give you 5$ if you want
