Nintendo Switch Presentation stream (starts 8pm pst)

Seems to be a lot more Open-World games on Switch too. Which I'm not against.
Out of all the stuff I saw the things that I don't like is, Very little 3rd party announced, Paid Online play, expensive accessories.
Saw a reddit post saying some of the games shown were 30fps and some 60fps.
Apparently Zelda was 30fps.
Not sure how I feel about fps. I've played games that are 30fps and I don't notice because i'm enjoying the game.
Why are almost none of their big announcements launch titles, you've got Zelda as maybe the only big title. Mario Kart, Splatoon, Skyrim, Mario Odyssey, even that ARMS game are all post launch?
These accessory prices are also dumb as fuck

I didn't catch the stream until the trailers, what are the accessories anyway? I heard something about a red and blue color variant but are there more?
Keep in mind that games aren't gonna be nearly as large on this thing as they are on PS4 or Xbox One given the hardware, so it doesn't need nearly as much space I don't think
plus SD cards aren't that expensive so, even more a moot point
Actually I have several issues with this:
- Games are getting bigger, this will limit developers when doing ports etc.
- Games were already big on the PS3/X360, and would fill this storage pretty quickly.
- MicroSD cards are generally SLOW, expect unreasonably long loading times.
Tbh they should've gone with a faster storage standard.
CF/CFast cards, anyone?
Farming Simulator though.

When you buy shit SD cards then don't act surprised when it performs shit as well
When you buy shit SD cards then don't act surprised when it performs shit as well
Most MicroSD cards are very slow, I'm sure we'll be seeing lots of people complaining about this in the future because they bought the card with the most storage, not the one with the highest speed.

Ooh I wonder what this here charging grip thing is
if that's like a portable charger then that could solve this whole battery life fiasco right there, giving it a much higher functional battery life than it has

No consumer/gamer would want to pay $200 for a 64GB CFast memory card and it would just make the Switch bulkier or have a smaller battery. MicroSD is the way to go because it's really small and the speed is probably going to be good enough. You can also get the higher end microSD cards that are pretty fast too. It's really up to the consumer to pick the right microSD card, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo has a guide on which microSD card to pick.

the switch isn't that cheap with all extra costs included
That's pretty expensive, and I would prefer having 500GB.
You know, maybe the dock should've had HDD storage, and then you could manage which games were installed on the actual portable unit.

Holy shit CFast is expensive lol. Nvm
We'll have to see if an SD card is necessary, for all we know saves and shit don't take up much space
Seems like it would be a kinda mean trick to pull to have it be that it's basically useless without buying an SD card, and I don't think they would want the casual audience who might not even know what those are to have to figure out SD cards

Were you expecting something that is faster and better than the top of the line MicroSD card to be the same price or cheaper per GB? You can pretty much get double the capacity in a microSD card for the same price. The speeds are completely different, CFast is for the pro cameras and such anyways. Read Speed up to 515 MB/s and Write Speed up to 240 MB/s on CFast 2.0, mmm.
Seriously how the fuck is Mario Kart of all things not a launch title
Its a port+DLC

I was expecting it to be cheaper because it's bigger, just like how massively faster SSD's are cheaper than equalivently sized and decently fast MicroSD cards.
Guess my logic didn't work.
SD cards are more prevalent in the consumer market so they are generally cheaper.
CF cards are prevalent in the professional market so they are generally more expensive but better in terms of overall performance and quality.
It comes out in April at least. Also the new content probably takes time to make.
It definitely would've been worth delaying the switch 2-3 months just so that Nintendo could say that they had more than 2 launch titles

Games are getting bigger, but they're being stored on a cartridge format which I imagine isn't gonna be that big. I don't think they're going to require the same install requirements like other systems are due to this, so this would only really be a problem for digital downloads.
CFast is far more expensive than SD as well.

When the format is this small I really don't think you should be expecting the normal 50 gig install size
The console looks cool but I'm not sure it's worth getting if there's only going to be 2 games on it and will invariably cost $500 AUD.

470 but close enough

save 120 by importing
region locking is dead, but unsure on market firmware

Don't forget the 70$ pro controller. The connected joy cons don't look to be a great option to play on TV, and the buttons look tiny.

To add on this I've noticed EB Games is doing a trade in deal with Old Premium Wii Us + 1 game, I would be more then happy to give up my old Wii U to get the switch for $300 AUD, as much as I loved it I literally haven't used it for over a year.
I rung up EBGames Australia (Customer Support) to check my order on the Nintendo Switch, pretty much guaranteed Day One (Lady even knew it was the Switch despite me not saying it), but I did ask about the Price, Nintendo themselves suggest $470, and $89.99 is the Official Breath Of The Wild Price.

Apparently the Nintendo Switch weighs 300 Grams.

Yeah, it seems so far like the games will be cartridge based, meaning there's really no need to install any games.
