Because it's just the actual thing with him in the corner commenting, I don't see any reason why not, all I'd be watching is Nintendo marketing spiel. It's the same thing I do with E3 and a bunch of other gaming events. Normally I'd watch it with friends in a call but nobody wants to stay up.
This just reminds me of that south park episode
where cartman commentates real life because modern people need commentary on everything for some reason
I mean power to you, you do you, that kind of thing, but personally, I don't get it.

I'm just a "Grandpa" now a days.

People enjoy watching somebody/some people react and/or give their opinion on something as it happens. Not that confusing of a concept, or a particularly new one. I imagine news channels have been doing the same thing for years.
Hell, you look at Japanese broadcasting and half the channels seem to insist on having omnipresent facecam of celebrities overreacting to what you're watching.
I really hope they have some heavy improvements to the online features. I have a wish that multiplayer VC games could be played online, though I doubt it'll happen.

Considering it's Nintendo, we can consider ourselves lucky if they update their online services to the standards of 2006.
Wow I didnt expect this to be a live presentation, I was just expecting another pre-recorded direct.

I was thinking less their individual games and more stuff like their store and account system.

Is this a joke? No proper matchmaking, single stage (Final destination) with randomers online with some stuttery lag issues, half baked ideas such as the crappy tournament mode (which isn't played anything like actual competitive Smash), unable to access the control options or friends list while you're in the online mode, no text chat function to organise in public or private matches so people have to use their names. Then you have shit like exporting a replay is limited to 3 minutes 15 seconds, any longer than that and you can't export that replay to YouTube.
This is not perfect. I love the game but come on, the online in that game is nothing like what should be included with a Smash Bros. game in 2015
I'm cautiously hyped
All I want for the next SSB game is to have decent options for online.
I can't stand how "for fun" is limited to painfully short two-minute four-player-only matches, and the only alternative is the painfully boring Final Destination-only For Glory.
Four-player matches suck. At least one asshole is going to sit in the corner and fish for KOs while refusing to actually engage or generally play like an asshole. Villager players tend to be the scum of the earth as a result.
Jeff Gerstmann of Videos Games dot com is streaming his audio only thoughts at http://www.giantbomb.com/chat/, just in case you wanted some commentary without anything dumb overlaid onto the actual video

For sure, just having options alone would improve the online multiplayer tenfold. Having those modes is fine, but then please let players have a stage selection mode against another randomers, or one where you can setup rules like 6 minutes 2 stocks/8 minutes 3 stocks. I don't mind Nintendo catering to the casual online users, but let those who want more competitive matches have more competitive matches.
Also let us play randomers online on Pacland
The Youtube chat is going so fast you can't read anything :v:
