Skirmish/Meetup thread V2 - "Don't meet people on the internet you might get raped"

Except POW's can only be held for two hours, and if you're captured at night then you're released the following morning.
I find it neat because you can experience how the other side operates and they say that if you have spare time after being interrogated (which you likely will, if they even interrogate you) then they'll release you to take a look around their camp and everything. They say that if there's a meal being served, you can hop in line, as well as talk to other attendees, etc which I find pretty cool.

Well, guess I was wrong about that. However, let me tell you that the people who go to serious milsim events are not your standard airsoft players. Basically, expect play-to-win people to outnumber fun people roughly 2 to 1, and that people will get seriously pissed at one another. High stakes = tempers flaring.
That's true, but I think it'd be a little bit of a different attitude because of the whole nature of the event, where it isn't just "Go clear that building kill them all aaa" like other events that may cause the play to win attitude to grow larger and larger, I think it'd be more...deep, since you'd be trying to live in conditions you're not used to for nine days.
It's hard because I know what I want to say to describe what I think it'd be like, but I can't really put it into words
Like, I think it wouldn't be a thing like a nine-day Pine Plains (I heard there was a lot of play-to-win, etc people from a few that went there), I think because of the nature of East Wind you'd have a lot of people that would want to make the best of it, instead of having only a few days like Pine Plains/Blacksheep where you have to cram in all the action and excitement in just two days.
Like I said, it's hard to put into words what I think the players might be like, I don't think we'd really know until one of us goes to EW.

do you airsoft?[/QUOTE]
Not in like 5 years, but I'd be up for it as long as it isn't anything professional or hardcore. I'm in Arvada.
A couple of my mates are going to EastWind this year as Soviets/East Germans
I would be glad to go to EW sometime in the future (maybe as NATO, because their kit is so easy to assemble) with you guys
Or I'll get captured Day 1 and I'll make funny faces at the prison guard

We'll undergo SERIOSU OPS and we'll crack jokes on patrols like in Generation Keel

I totally understand the idea you're trying to convey, but when people are spending as much money and time as they are to play this event, most of them become assholes.
Not all of them of course, but when you spend a day on a bullshit detail caught in the rain, and then your expensive surplus kit rips, and then you come under a night attack when you try to sleep, you get mad.
Not saying that it still wouldn't be interesting to go to, but I guarantee you shit will go down at some point.
Or yunno
We can buy land and host our own EastWind strictly based on fighting for a week :v:

Yeah, I'd volunteer to build watchtowers and stuff. EastWind without the extreme roleplaying and calladooty rank-up master sergeant stuff sounds fun.

We're going as Americans so by expensive surplus gear you mean our $15 BDU's or our $20 alice rig I doubt it's an issue.
Unless you're the Soviets than it's expensive. But that's when that bullshit Russian quality the Reds always bitch about should come in handy. Right guys? [i]Right?[/i]

I'm also 100% behind going to East Wind. I think not going just because of the play-to-wins is silly. It'd be like saying "I don't want to go to blacksheep because there are play to win people and they make the game un-fun."
I actually like the roleplaying aspect of it. But I also LARP a bit so I'm kind a nerd. I want to get a time-accurate boombox or CD player and play Everyone Wants to Rule the World and White Snake all the time. And write bullshit letters to everyone.
I also want to carry a bunch of wills around with me and cheap $5 watches and everytime I call a hit I need to get a team mate to promise to give it to my son.
And if I find random garbage I have to go on and on about how I'll send it to my kid brother.
[editline]1st March 2013[/editline]
We're going probably next year or the year after so we have plenty of time to prepare. If you join the US team you can play for dirt cheap (relatively speaking) because it's all Army-Navy Surplus Store bullshit. BDU's are cheap, ALICE is cheap, PASGT replicas are cheap, alice packs are cheap. All of that shit is cheap. So the bulk of the cost is travel expenses and admission but if we all go as as group it divides the cost up nicely.
It's nice because the best stuff is the cheap stuff. (mmm woodland mmm)
Except for the alice gear I was looking at in a surplus store one time that was like $60. Screw that I can find it elsewhere for cheap.

That's a huge rip-off. I've seen full sets for like $30.

[editline]1st March 2013[/editline]
what gnus and gear do you have?
I'd still be down for EW, I brought it up like forever ago but that got shot down pretty quick by everyone but code lol
9 day OP seems very much worth the price of the plane ticket
ifap camping trip v. East wind: listen to hardcore milsimmers barking orders and crack jokes during firefights
Ameri-fap camping trip:v1:Kebabs are mandatory:the book:the movie
IFAP Camping trip v1: actually going to happen
COMING THIS SPRING
Lets do it. We need a Camp Ifap thread now.
And we all get put into different platoons / companies and don't see eachother once
We should have a non-airsoft IFAP get-together or something. Like go to the zoo or a baseball game or whatever.
[QUOTE=cardfan212;39767832]We should have a non-airsoft IFAP get-together or something. Like go to the zoo or a baseball game or whatever.[/QUOTE]
IFAP Taiwan trip when it happens pretty much will be IFAP sleepover+daily life for like a month lol
[editline]1st March 2013[/editline]
also IFAP goes shopping like high school girls
We could totally go IFAP camping in the grand tetons, which are like, the coolest mountains ever.
Assuming we don't get lost or anything.

This post alone has sold me on the experience, I can really foresee all of us derping around in a combat zone being generally worthless.
I'm going to surrender and defect to the Soviet team.
you're going to find me some dirty bbs or busted midcaps and send them to your kid brother taiwaneseprick in california ok

Alternatively I'll be that kid-brother and he'll just give me shit every 5 minutes.
"Hey bro, I brought something back from the warzone."
"You mean you brought me some shit from behind the tree while I watched you pick it up. Fuck."
I'll get PTSD during it, willing to bet you money.
