Strangely, i would enjoy some open world with the use of large plains such as Montana or other Midwestern Great Plains state. If you were to build the setting with large open plains, but with a number of small towns and one decent sized "Large Town". You got god knows how much world building potential with that. Like each town has their own backstory or has its own unique inhabitants. Though, i could see some Mad Max style situations where you're just slamming on the gas Driving with a bent to shit 1980's Chevy pick up truck. While some psychotic red neck cultists, armed with ar15s, are on your ass with Ford pickups. This setting and idea has a lot of potential and could be very interesting if executed correctly. If not, could easily become a boring mess.
What's up with all the 'crazy rednecks' trend? First RE7, then Outlast2, now this. I don't really get it.
it's because True Detective was such a runaway hit. all the villains in that were coked-out cultist hillbillies and corrupt evangelists
I gotta wonder how the guns will be In this If the rumors of fighting a cult are true I can't see them using lots of Vectors and FAMASes and all that stuff I bet mercenaries will somehow get involved
What's up with all the 'crazy rednecks' trend? First RE7, then Outlast2, now this. I don't really get it.
I'm not sure why it's been so popular lately. I do know that RE7 was a major, major hit. Probably a big part of why. And while the genre isn't necessarily about 'crazy rednecks', I'd say it fits in with the themes of Southern Gothic, a genre that's been around for at least a hundred years. I guess my biggest problem with that whole deal is just that, if you've seen a crazy bible thumping preacher villain once, you've seen them all. They all tend to look and act similarly and their dialogue could generally be swapped with no differences. What would be far more interesting is if they parodied Alex Jones for the villain. Now that I have not seen.
they're on your ass specifically because you are driving a chevy and not for any other reason
Hilariously, it would be the exact opposite if it were Nebraska. You get spotted with a Ford, get ready to be shat on till the end of time.
Ubisoft has been reusing the same P416 model for nearly every game they make with guns since Far Cry 3. I'd be fucking flabbergasted if there was not a single reused asset in this game. You'll probably see lots of guns from wildlands make it in.
They've reused the AK model from Far Cry 3 pretty heavily as well. Most guns in ubisoft games are just reused assets from another game.
Wait, why are people going on about crazy rednecks when this is seems to be going more about insane cultists in the north? My question is how the hell are they going to translate the sandbox Far Cry style into a mountainous, rural America, considering by series standards that'd mean one guy is running around gunning down entire towns of crazy people potentially.
Was race an important narrative element in RE7 and Outlast 2? In fact, did it come up at all? Sure you don't enjoy murdering some other category of people?
It's fun to shoot southern rednecks.

There are plenty of rural places teeming with people you could describe as rednecks up north and in the midwest.
Pretty giddy that a game is actually taking place in my state, hopefully it doesn't focus too much on eastern montana.
It's fun to shoot southern rednecks.
why
I would be interested in this game if the second half dealt with battling demons or some eldritch horror. Like with Farcry 1, you go in thinking it's a game and you're Arnold in Commando then you end your way up fighting an army of mutant predators.

i mean there really aren't THAT many games about fighting crazy cults/rednecks, maybe a few recently but in the grand scheme of things a few more isn't gonna swamp the market. plus more games set in modern day rural america is cool
Getting some real Dying Light The Following feelings for this, not quite like what they showed but also with the mountains, farms and rural fields while it being revolved about some cult. I would be excited for this but please redo the gameplay of Far Cry, it starts to become stale
far cry 3 was a perfect game in my opinion. vaas is a very unique and fascinating villain, almost having joker-like (christopher nolan) qualities. they made you really want to dislike him as a person so it would be rewarding to kill him in the end. i really hope the story for fc5 is good

Just to spin some perspective. Montana is fucking gorgeous. [t]http://www.visitmt.com/binaries/medium/content/gallery/MTOT/responsive/hero-f/moose-calf_web.jpg[/t][t]https://www.montanaangler.com/sites/default/files/montana-fly-fishing-lodge-1_0.jpg[/t] [t]http://www.demos.org/sites/default/files/blog/glacier-national-park-montana-223702.jpg[/t][t]http://template.mt.gov/resources/template/images/background45.jpg[/t] Also, Montana has a long, long history with crazy religious militias. Started with the Mormons and other "new christian" groups that spread out through the west to avoid persecution and ended up becoming stir crazy in the backwoods. Now a days it's mostly because of how rural you can get in most parts and be hidden away up in the trees. If I were to guess, the inspiration came from the Militia of Montana and Montana Freemen. Both heavily christian groups, which are pretty notorious for being the groups which supposedly trained McVeigh. These groups are also known for their campaigns of bombing abortion clinics in the Midwest. They are also alongside the Idaho and South Carolina groups some of the best trained and armed militias in the country.
you forgot the part where they kill him off and replace him with a shitty antagonist you know nothing about for the rest of the game
Which is weird because said villain wasn't even gonna be in the game until the Vaas actor did an amazing job that they had to create an a whole new character because of it. Honestly you could have added the second island as an optional post game thing and I wouldn't of complained
So what was this?
They are working on a new IP at the moment, people are estimating that it won't be ready to show off until next year, iirc
Looks gorgeous, and the sound design from just that teaser was fantastic.
you forgot the part where they kill him off and replace him with a shitty antagonist you know nothing about for the rest of the game
hoyt is definitely not comparable to vaas in terms of character depth i agree, but he still has that insane and non-nonchalantly sadistic element to him, and the way the game presents the story and how you progress still makes up for it imo
my history with the games is basically, fc1,fc2 messed around with them but got really bored and didn't bother with the story. fc3,fc4 finished the story and map didn't bother with collectibles, blood dragon I enjoyed the fuck out of that shame it was soooooo short, they didn't even put a lot of collectibles in it lol, primal you will have to pay me to play that one.
i love massive beautiful vistas irl and in games, especially green mountainous ones, never played a far cry game but I'm considering getting this one that clip of the guy's head being used to ring the church bell in the teaser was pretty chilling too
So what was this?

They are working on a new IP at the moment, people are estimating that it won't be ready to show off until next year, iirc
Beyond Good and Evil ! This is great. People thought Far Cry 5 will be a space game, because of the modern looking logo, but this gives me hope that the original author of first BGAE can finally fulfill his original vision with space exploration and everything else that had to be scraped, because the tech wasn't ready yet in 2003. The colorful art direction also fits the original game.
Minus the church and the mountains it looks just like my backyard Think I might give this one a go
Its fun to shoot racists
wasnt the family from re7 actually really nice people (except the son) [editline]24th May 2017[/editline] i have a pretty keen interest in cults so this might actually interest me more than the last few far crys

Also they weren't racists either. There was nothing in the game to indicate it.
