So where is the army? The national guard? Is this like post-government collapse or something? Also I didn't see any radio towers to climb, wtf Ubisoft?
We need Blood Dragon 2! That's what it is! Hopefully there will another good easter egg showing anything like from blood dragon.
So where is the army? The national guard? Is this like post-government collapse or something?
Maybe the plot reason for there being an out-of-bounds is that the National Guard basically cordoned off a certain area that the cultists are in to try to contain them.
That could work
Maybe the plot reason for there being an out-of-bounds is that the National Guard basically cordoned off a certain area that the cultists are in to try to contain them.
or they don't even know cause it is in bumfuck nowhere. [editline]26th May 2017[/editline] or maybe the cult leader is el presidente but that'd be dumb... but this is ubisoft...
the cult symbol looks a lot like the scientology cross i wonder when the bloodthirsty blackmail and lawsuits will start

The gaming community may not like Ubisoft but if they get attacked, I'm going to love the nuclear wrath unleashed on those bastards.
Maybe the plot reason for there being an out-of-bounds is that the National Guard basically cordoned off a certain area that the cultists are in to try to contain them.
You will be playing as a deputy sheriff, bringing along a few officers with you. Pretty sure at the beginning of the game no one in the outside world has any idea how organized and equipped these guys are.

Also here are the released character trailers, which I actually found more interesting than the reveal trailer.
Oh please do, Scientology. The gaming community may not like Ubisoft but if they get attacked, I'm going to love the nuclear wrath unleashed on those bastards.
The guy who leaked it a few days before the announcement teaser said they do parody Scientology.
Also here are the released character trailers, which I actually found more interesting than the reveal trailer. (videos)
so multiple characters? maybe something similar to far cry 2 where you picked the mercenary at the start of the game [editline]26th May 2017[/editline] or just story characters, that seems more plausible

Wow, not even coming out until next year. I'm slightly looking forward to this now.
The world looks kinda bland from the video, but the character videos are spot on. Too bad they decided to censor them for some reason. Like come on it's a far cry game.

There's some full cut trailer (basically all of them stitched together) that doesn't have censoring.
Looks like this will have that Far Cry 2 thing, where you choose which character you play as, and the others will be your allies
No, you don't play any of those characters, your character is a Deputy Sheriff and you will have some sort of customization.
Can't wait to see the downgrades !
Can't wait to see the downgrades !
Can't wait to have the same god awful writing that we had in FC3, FC4 and all the other Ubisoft games, while the gameplay actually turns out to be kinda fun.
:vs:
The fucking irony...
Can't wait to have the same god awful writing that we had in FC3, FC4 and all the other Ubisoft games, while the gameplay actually turns out to be kinda fun.
3 is actually pretty decently written, game just loses all steam once vaas exits the plot
Can't wait to have the same god awful writing that we had in FC3, FC4 and all the other Ubisoft games, while the gameplay actually turns out to be kinda fun.
What are you even talking about? Ubisoft games are almost never badly written. Often the story is passable but it's certainly not "god awful". Don't exaggerate facts just to shit on Ubisoft.
I hope this has a map editor like FC3 and 4. I love messing around in it. Primal didn't have one.
3 is actually pretty decently written, game just loses all steam once vaas exits the plot
Same goes for 4 and Pagan Min, the story just loses itself among all the repetitive outpost clearing bullshit and you forget anything was ever happening, but the beginning and the last few minutes are okay and Min was a fairly interesting villain.
What are you even talking about? Ubisoft games are almost never badly written. Often the story is passable but it's certainly not "god awful". Don't exaggerate facts just to shit on Ubisoft.
Their dialogue in games is almost always badly written. Their stories in the AC games are convoluted. FC3 and especially 4 were really disappointing in the writing. Vaas was cool but that's it. Take a look at the dialogue (and also bad voice acting) in Ghost Recon Wildlands recently. They try so hard with making cool and authentic dialogue that it seems fake. They create stereotypical characters or characters that are meant for you to pretty much dislike them, but obviously they don't want you to feel that way. They have this corny/strange vibe to them and I barely enjoy it. I hated Ajay from FC4 and Pagan was very underdeveloped. Pagan didn't have enough to do, I wanted more of him but he didn't get it and by the end I didn't care anymore about him. Ajay was even announced as a respectful person, and what does he do in the game? Cursing and behaving like a child. Just like Jason. And Jason spouted so much shit around, I just wanted him to shut up. Characters in Watch Dogs 1 are uninteresting, just like the story. The only cool thing about it was that Aiden was an anti hero, so there was at least an attempt to make it interesting. Ubisoft writers are like guys in their mid 40's who think they know how to make cool dialogue between people, how they interact or just make up stuff to have an excuse to have characters talk so "fake" in their games. It's unbearable and I'm almost always disappointed whenever they try story driven games. And it becomes worse when the voice acting is bad too, as heard in Wildlands. They have some attempts (Vaas, Aiden, Pagan) but they never push through. It's like they want to be stuck in that position of fake sounding dialogue. Maybe I should have worded it differently, it was kinda harsh. My main problem is that, when you look at those games as a whole, like listing them one by one, they don't improve in dialogue and writing. They feel like they are all in the same level of writing and never strive to be more. I edited some sentences.
Youre talking like all of those games are written by the same people. They arent. Also, try and make your points more succint. That post was way too long.
This game sure is getting a lot of free advertising. People sure are excited to get angry about nothing.
God those character trailers gave me the chills. Count me in
Youre talking like all of those games are written by the same people. They arent. Also, try and make your points more succint. That post was way too long.
I really agree with Anti though, the characters talk like focus testing on what appeals to a general demographic as "Badass". Don't see how this is any different to the kind of stuff we get in games like borderlands and watchdogs 2 A priest with a gun for example, that's his thing. That's his only character trait, it's paper-thin pixiebook storytelling. I enjoy every other aspect of most modern games, but the writing department has really plummeted into a ditch lately.
What are you even talking about? Ubisoft games are almost never badly written. Often the story is passable but it's certainly not "god awful". Don't exaggerate facts just to shit on Ubisoft.
That Anti is being biased towards Ubisoft because he's voicing his opinion on the story is just plain silly, I've played most of their titles and i'm in the same boat. By the looks of it this game is going to be a direct copy of the 3 previous installments story-wise. A cast of wild "wacky" characters that end up seeming forced. I don't know about you, but the previous games are filled with terrible characters like Hurk. They just make me want to turn the game off.
I'm pretty into the concept and I love far cry 4 because of how chaotic it is in terms of gameplay, stuff just escalates to a hilarious degree in that game: one minute you're chasing someone down through the map on your jeep then a rhino joins in and flips your target over and then a tiger shows up to kill the people you were going after. then the game tells you that you completed the mission.
