Just look at deities. They were believed to be right verbatim until the Age of Reason. With every scientific discovery they were pushed further into the obscure, invisible, non-interfering entities that live in "not here".
Claiming the existence of deities, afterlives or souls, that are by definition supernatural, I.E., impossible without proof makes no sense whatsoever. And then imbuing these things with morals/world views etc, is even more dishonest.
Religion is irrational by definition, so who cares which unprovable assumption you make of things to exist or be true?
I don't like people who try to be good people because some book says they should. I'd prefer if people were good just because they want to.

Ask yourself this.
Are we good because we want to be? Or are we good because we are afraid of consequence? And in the end, does it even really matter anyway?

I'm good because I want to be. Most Christians try to be good because a book says you'll be eternally damned if you don't.
So most Christians are good because they are afraid of consequence. Meaning they're not really a good person, they're only a good person because they're afraid.

I ain't afraid of no god, BRING IT ON BITCH!

Yeah most Christians I know only believe in "God" because if they don't they will go to "Hell".

I'm good cause I feel like a dick when I'm not.
Some times.
Kman, are you a chick?

I was always under the impression he's a guy. I don't know where you got that from.
Some lurker suggested he was to me on Steam. I'm just straight up asking. I don't believe he is either.
I just watched the end of Men At War, an old WWII movie. My immersion was broken when I noticed:
The three Thompsons where M1928's with incorrect 30rnd mags and a switched handguard.
Two soldiers where wearing M65s with the hood inside.
The M1 Carbine was an M14
Two guys wore Vietnam era helmet covers
The M2 .50 was an M1919 .30
The Japanese used Pineapple Grenades
The Japanese used an M1917
The Japanese used a Bren Gun (Which is close enough to an Type 99 I guess)

I thought it was a Korean war movie, not a ww2 movie.
No, I'm a dude, why.
Though, since I've never elaborated, I thought it might be fun to fuck with you guys' minds, but I don't feel like it. And who thought I was?
KMAN, MAN.
It was some fucking hacker who said he knew everyone here on the forums. I didn't really know who it was since he was using someone else's account. I figured I'd just ask to prove it false even more.
So my mom is officially retarded. She always goes on about how I shouldn't stereotype people at my school as preppy pieces of shit but then she goes ahead and stereotypes goths as bad people. Probably because some retarded bitch in my city murdered her family a couple years ago and just happened to be goth.
Height of hypocrisy achieved.

Im pretty sure its Men IN War, and its a Korean war movie.
I need to remind myself to get a Sharpie. I need to write "O POS" on my boots.
Where on the boots do you write that?
Also, I kind of want to upgrade my current rifle to this:

Basically, right now I have a Marlin .22 Lever Action with one of those crazy rod-magazines that you open up and insert each round one by one then slide the rod back in. It's basically for Self Defense and targets. This would be really nice for a few reasons.
* It's relatively affordable
* .22 Ammo is cheap, compared to any .223 etc.
* It's as the video describes "Sheep in Wolf Clothing" so it's a mean looking gun, scares people if I ever had to use, perhaps avoid hurting anyone (Call me paranoid)
* I've played with my Airsoft M4 for years, so I'll be relatively familiar with operation and such.
* I have all the systems to utilize with an M4, for example, I can have a "Minute-Man Vest" with spare mags all loaded up if I ever have to grab and go. (Paranoia again, but I like the idea)
* Magazine capacity is pretty nice, not to mention I can reload it quickly, where as right now, I can't do it in a timely fashion.
MP-15-22s are fun as hell. Plus you can tacticool-ize the hell out of them with airsoft parts since the recoil really isn't significant enough to knock an airsoft scope out of zero.
Ruger 10/22s are also good (not to mention cheap, hella reliable, and simple to maintain) and are what I personally use. They also have an UNGODLY amount of aftermarket shit for them:

Just FYI, a .22LR would make a horrible "minute-man" / SHTF gun for anything other than hunting, I wouldnt recommend one for defense, as scary as the MP-15-22s look :v:
[editline]24th October 2010[/editline]
Also, nutnfancy :frog:
[editline]24th October 2010[/editline]
Look into a Kel-Tec Sub2k actually, if you want something to ease that paranoia, but also to use as a plinker. 9mm ammo is dirt cheap (and quite powerful out of a 16in barrel), they use Glock mags, are compact as hell, and are crazy reliable and easy to maintain (the key parts of the gun can be removed using a stick). Perfect SHTF gun IMO.
I like Nutnfancy. I also considered a Ruger, but I haven't really looked into it in awhile. Why would it be a bad choice for a self defense weapon? Granted, .22 don't have the same knock down of a larger round but a bullet is a bullet and if you can unload a dozen into someone with a dozen more in the mag then it would even out.
I would really like a Kel-Tec Su-16A
[editline]24th October 2010[/editline]
But the sub2k would be best because of the reasons Timebomb listed

Try NO knockdown power, at all. People get shot with .22s and dont even notice it until after the fact.

but a bullet is a bullet and if you can unload a dozen into someone with a dozen more in the mag then it would even out.
Not gonna lie, thats a really bad plan. It takes far too long the dump the necessary amount of .22 rounds into somebody needed to actually kill, and not wound, them. Theres a reason people dont use .22LR as a defensive round.
9mm hollowpoints out a 16 inch barrel on the other hand, will fuck your shit. VERY FAST.
I had also considered getting a shotgun for the same purpose. I doubt knockdown power would be an issue in that case. Considering I can't legally shoot anyone unless they've already entered my home legally, it would fuck their shit up good. 20 Gauge is what I had in mind.
In reality, you're right, its still a bullet. Is it usable for self-defense? Sure. Would it take someone out before they could do bodily harm to you? Possibly, depending on the situation.
And I personally dont like the idea of trusting my life to "possibly".

Now that's the right idea. I would personally use my Remmy 870 over my Kel-Tec if it wasnt my dads and if it wasn't at a different house all the time. 12 (or 20) gauge will pretty much either scare someone off (CHCK-CHCK "GTFO") or drop them with a clean hit on the first shot. And it wont over-penetrate like an assault rifle round.

Usually on the outer cusp of the boot. If you decide to write it on there, have it facing out from you.

Whipped this up in Paint for you.
On both boot I assume? I may do that. I choose my blood type as A POS a long time ago, I have no idea what it is.
Yeah, on both boots if you want. My other recruiter taught me some tricks after he got back from Iraq.

I just went for O POS because it's universal.
And a Shotgun is a sound option, going back to the 'minute-man' rig I could throw shells in the loops or get a dedicated pouch. I prefer 20 gauge over a 12, and I know someone will call me a pussy, but I prefer the recoil over a 12, barrel rise is less drastic too. Throw a pistol on the chest panel for a backup with a SERPA or something.
Remington 870 was exactly the shotgun I was looking at, probably the Tactical Gray.
