From what I can recall, the most dull people I've ever met, were told about Santa.
You do realise that probably 90% of the people in your community believed in Santa at some stage. This is really dumb; how many kids feel anger and injustice when they find out Santa wasn't real?
to me, childhood is anything before your first blowjob.
so most of FP is, and always will be, a child?

Ended when you discovered the Internet?
Stop talking. Both of you, but more archonet. [editline]18th December 2010[/editline] It's just the start of the pathway to knowing everything you once knew is basically a lie. EG what happens first semester in almost every science course (and you have to learn all these new rules)
YES SIR SORRY SIR WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN SIR :v: SIR EDIT SIR: SIR-DY SIR SIR SIR!
Of course, because my childhood of DBZ and Pokemon was soooooo Western. Just about the only thing I grew up with that was really western were the original Looney Toons and Monty Python.
A large part of my childhood was spent overseas in Asia, and honestly I can say I was a better person because of it, however when I came back to the States when I was 10 I still got deeply into the whole culture involving Christmas, Halloween, those sorts of things. In short, I could say I had a 50/50 spread of my childhood involving Eastern/Asiatic influence, and Western influence. Does that mean I'm going to make it a 50/50 spread with my children? Not really, I'll give them a primarily Western childhood with a strong sense of cultural relativism. Said that because I don't really know how to respond to your post, it seems more like a statement then a question/argument. However now that I look at it again I can remind you that culture is far more then just what you see on TV, and is in fact a very small part of it.

I got a bulk of my culture from books and videogames. I was always an outcast since grade one so I guess I don't see my obligation in filling my children with the culture that reduced me down to withering ball of tears especially one that has purely corporate control now over it. The spirit of Santa has been dead, many can think themselves into thinking otherwise but its merely a corporate tie in to suck people into the same money heap. Behind the lies is toys produced by children, who are forced to work, who don't even know what Christmas is or would never get on. The idea of giving, has been dead and I don't was to paint a false picture for my children so they sit there and do nothing about it. I would rather motivate them to grow up and better the world. Which is why I believe a fusion of cultures is important and telling them the whole truth when they ask for it should be done. I know I'm in over my head about arguments of culture, (History of war was more my strong point and still is.) But I'd rather give them the truth, about everything. About the who discovered America first, about who bought their gifts and wasn't expecting anything in return. My view and Holidays is cyncial because there are more things we should be celebrating like the new year and days of major discoveries by scientists instead of someone who gets all the credit where its no due. The real Saint Nicholas is a great story to tell because he actually existed, but to say he still lives is just an insult to our future generations.
When I pressed that science can sometimes be much more magical than actual magic she scoffed.
I'm sorry, but it just doesn't work that way. You might think "it's better to teach my kid science", but a child doesn't want that.
I'm sorry, but it just doesn't work that way. You might think "it's better to teach my kid science", but a child doesn't want that.
So they don't like watching thermite?
When you didn't have to deal with the drama of being a teenager, self consciousness and all that bullshit. Childhood really depends on innocence really. To me at least.
For me, it wasn't a great shock to know Santa and the Easter bunny is not real. It was pretty apparent to me it was my parents, but acting as if it was the easter bunny bringing chocolate and stuff, and all that, just made it a bit more "magical", per se.
she jumped in like a paratrooper and broke her legs trying to create a conversation.
Damn dude, I know a lot of people don't like talking to their parents but you don't have to get violent over it.
my childhood ended when i discovered the internet/found out what a dick and vagina are for
My childhood ended when i found out hannah montana was ending
My childhood ended when... Well, actually, I'm only 7...
My childhood ended when... Well, actually, I'm only 7...
Remembering that for the next time you make a serious post.
Remembering that for the next time you make a serious post.
Likewise.
Likewise.
What are you rambling on about you child?
What are you rambling on about you child?
I just want friends :smith:
I just want friends :smith:
I'll be your friend.
I'll be your friend.
:unsmith:
Childhood is when you believed in any of the following. -Monsters in bed/closet -Santa Claus -Easter Bunny -Tooth Fairy -Things in TV are actually real -Boogeyman -Your dad coming back after he divorced -God My childhood stopped at 6.
Fixed.
I honestly think it's a bad idea to tell your kids Santa isn't real from the start.
Science: [img_thumb]http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/images18/HorseJackField.JPG[/img_thumb] Magic: [img_thumb]http://quizilla.teennick.com/user_images/T/Tatiyana/1066291694_unicorn-sm.jpg[/img_thumb] Never have children.
....Wait, everyone had a fit over the Santa thing that I'm thrown off by this. I would let them read fantasy books, cartoons and stuff like that. Its really just the santa thing I hate.
-Things in TV are actually real
I saw a black person on tv so they are not real. [editline]18th December 2010[/editline] I saw a white person too. [editline]18th December 2010[/editline] :psyduck: [editline]18th December 2010[/editline] I knew Santa wasn't real when I was 2
So they don't like watching thermite?
Yes but I doubt they would enjoy learning why thermite reacts exactly the way it does.
Mine finished at 4 years old. My parents split. It hasn't really affected me much today but it did when I was 4. I started swearing and being bad behaved. I used to shout "BAAAASSSTTTTAAAARRRDDD" at the top of my lungs in crowded places. I used to run out infront of cars. I used to throw my dads records out the window and I destroyed his record player. ( I still feel bad about it and this was when I was 4) :smith:
I just want friends :smith:
I'll be your bedtime friend for 10 dollars.
Childhood usually ends when your dick spews white things.
So she's saying that that'll take the magic out of childhood when she FUCKING TOOK THE MAGIC OUT OF CHILDHOOD WHEN SHE TOLD YOU THERE WAS NO SANTA
