If you use chakra meditaiton could you testify/verify at all for these people that there are noticable effects/changes.
I've been doing this for years, but I just called it spacing out. It is relaxing, and that other stuff looks pretty cool, but I'll attest to this for its relaxing properties.

Personal experience isn't proof.
I much prefer the Zazen technique of meditation.

Cause Meditation means peace, which is foreign to Facepunch.
I use meditation from time to time, and I've heard of Chakra, but I've never seen it so extensively.
This is a pretty cool explanation, thanks!

That and as soon as someone hears meditation, they think religion. The atheists here give the rest of us bad names.
Meditation is real, and there's significant research evidence in favor of it's benefits and existence. You can say "lol placebo" all you want but it doesn't change the fact that having a deep connectivity with your mind and body in the way meditation allows has many inner benefits and aids brain health.
The Chakra bullshit is simply a matter of symbolism, and a method to achieve meditation. I honestly don't think it really exists any more than good luck charms giving you good luck exsist. If you believe in chakra and all that you can probably find it easier to achieve a meditative state though.
That said meditation, like any brain/self conditioning (such as learning, self-hypnosis, etc) only works if you truly want it to work. If you just try and do it for shits and giggles your brain knows this and doesn't take itself seriously and the meditative experience does not happen.
Personally I've not done a lot of meditation simply because I don't have the patience to do so most of the times but I've experienced it to a degree and it does work.
Meditation should be relaxing because you are basically relaxing your muscles and thinking peaceful things.
The reason Chinese herbology works is because medicine is based on using plants to produce medicine, most of the active ingredients of the drugs you use were originally isolated from plants and/or herbs. So Chinese medicine is not very different in that respect, but the problem is you cannot be sure that the herb you take is the one that contains the active ingredient you need, and mixing drugs can have serious consequences.
Also on that note, while acupuncture seems silly, it is actually more based on science that any of the other alternative medicine practices. By at least manipulating and stimulating nerves in specific points you can alleviate pain, but this is more based on actual anatomy than all that aura and chakra crap.
Nah, meditation is thinking nothing at all, actually. It's clearing your mind of all thought.
Chinese herbology is a little more complex than that, but I wouldn't really know how the intricate workings of it play out.
As for acupuncture, I really wouldn't know much about it, but I think you're right. Acupuncture really is based on anatomy.
