to this day i feel remorse at times for killing a for people in games but only at the time of me doing it. Earlier today i was playing gta iv online with my friend, i started to mess around shooting people in the legs to watch them stumble about, one of the old ladies was freaking out and started screaming "i wish my husband was alive to help me" and i just stopped. Then my friend ran up with a shotgun and killed everyone.
Then i just continued on after a bit of guilt.
I chase down wild horses in RDR, shoot them dead, skin them, then throw throwing knives at their skinned heads and that little religious girl that you find during a Stranger quest I hogtied her and then threw her on the train tracks.
I'm going to Hell aren't I?

I always try to keep my units alive in RTS's.
Except for the Imperial Guard in DoW. They're fair game.

When I was a kid I didn't do any of those things either. In GTA the primary thing I did was cause traffic jams and drive on the sidewalk.

I hogtied her and tried to take her back to town for her own good but I just got a bounty. Because apparently leaving someone to die in the wilderness is ethical and honorable.

Well if you look at JDK's post you can easily see that he said there was a psychological change, correct? Well I mean, what I basically said was that the psychological effect/change must not be too bad, or too intense, or else I'd be off murdering humans.

The point is that the kid had less exposure to the real world compared to most people that play it, and he didn't go apeshit when there were no rules.

It's even worse in RDR... if you start shooting civilians and police in the gut, they will crawl around bleeding to death making heavy wheezing noises saying things like "I'm not even supposed to be here... Oh, God...", "I can't die now, it's not my time...", "Peggy, Irene... I'm going to see you soon...", they'll start begging for the pain to end, they'll cry for help or a doctor, they'll start saying the Lord's prayer, and so on.

Meh, most games are probably safe with parental guidance... aslong as its not like saw.
I always felt like shit when I played GTA. I remember going, "that person probably had a family... and now the kids are gunna be orphans!" which led to me crying for about 30 minutes.
I played GTA too around that age,
glad not every parent goes:
"MY KID CAN'T PLAY THAT IT WILL MAKE HIM A SERIAL MURDERER!!!!"
